Recommendations on Screencapture & Movie Editing software

Hopefully this falls under the "Technology" portion of this forum. If not, please direct me properly.

Could someone recommend some screencapture and movie editing software, (for windowed applications, not limited to games). I'd be interested in free, inexpensive and professional options. (Although I'd probably just be interested in the professional options for the sake of discussion and comparison.)

I've been using a GPL software called CamStudio in combination with Windows Movie editor. They are good enough to do most of what I require, but I'd like some more advanced features.

For the screencapture software the only thing missing is an automatic window targeting function. You have to manually define the region to record. Of course, I might find other features useful that I didn't even thing of. There are more features missing from the MS Movie Editor. I'd like to have more flexibility with text and graphics, as well as a more intuitive interface for timing and scene adjustments.

If you've got the cash, Adobe Premiere. Final Cut's a possibility. As is AVID. These are all film editing software, by the way.

I'm not fully understanding what you're looking for in the screencapture stuff. I think you're saying you want something like AviScreen:

I assume there are better ones out there, but that'd involve paying monies.

I want to make a movie of what's happening on my desktop as it happens, as is often seen in a photoshop tutorials.

Edit: Thanks for the recommendations, though. I checked it out and it looks promising. I'd still be interested in any others, though.
