Private sites for team collaboration with a forum

I have been using Hoop.la for the past couple months as a collaboration site for my game development group. Recently, they've changed their basic (free) package to not allow the site to be private. Without getting into too many details, I can still have all important content as private through permissions, but it has severely messed up my main page's widgets.

I am currently using Hoop.la's service to do the following:
- Display Tasks (by using blog posts as tasks)
- Have forums for discussions related to major jobs of the game development (writing, art, code, etc)
- Have sub-forums for discussions related to minor jobs of each major job (writing-game, writing-rules, etc)
- Customizable main page showing tasks (blog posts) and active threads, recent posts, recent threads, etc.

Do you guys know any other free sites that allow creation of a private community with all those features?

Even better, do you have any other ideas on ways to privately collaborate a team with tasks and customizable forums for discussions?

I've used Assembla before I really like it. It does everything you want.

Thanks LRH. I just looked at that and it looks nice. The only sad part is that if you want a "branded" site it costs like $100 a month. Not a deal breaker, but geez.

If you can afford hosting somewhere that supports ruby, http://www.redmine.org/ sounds right up your alley.
