Nice narrations MrT, especially the guard-that-could-not-find-crime was depressing :) I'm not a big fan of wrong/thrall information though. Hooray for 25% suicide!
alegis isn't a pure guard, he dies if his target is hit with a kill, but kills the attacker
Woops, did I say that? I only redirect a kill onto myself

This has been the first phalla where I felt like I did pretty ok as village. Up until we hit a wall with cythraul and feckless, because reverse seer thrall.

MrT, if you have sufficient motivation for it, I'd really appreciate a list of who targeted who each night as well as the time shenanigans that were going on. I'm also still trying to wrap my head around how the time travel mechanic worked.

Congrats to INANTP and Langly for sorting though most of the silliness and leading us to victory. Glad to see my trust in you guys wasn't misplaced. Also thanks to kuhlmeye for having crucial info, and warban and Ringo for crazy shenanigans that kept the game interesting.

(Still grudging everyone who had to do with my death, though - honestly that was just embarrassing.)

No, it was awful. It took all of my concentration to not fuck up and mix them up and accidentally reveal myself or others as mafia.

Also i've been mafia in 4 out of my last 5 games....I'm way sick of it.

Hello! I had a lot of fun playing this when I could : ), Kime scared me half to death on Day 1 haha, Lurking during these games does not prepare you for the PM madness that seems to happen
Sadly, I got sick last week and as it progressed I found myself really unable to continue! I got voted out the very night I was withdrawing :|
What made you guys vote for me that night? I went to bed before that whole turn of events

we were still pretty suspicious of you, and locking down someone's vote isn't very village friendly. It also wasn't a very useful powervnext to a roleblock, a guard, a busdrive, vote immunity, or being a lover.

Also kime you picked just the worst vote target. A vote immune (he had already claimed that) mason who had been busdriven every night of the phalla who had been confirmed by egos, and you, since you were adamant about stever's innocence, and he was the mason partner.

It says a lot that about you that once you came up neutral, we still went with that vote, just in case.

    I love this line.

Thanks, MrT, for running it. As far as being too powerful goes, I was worried for a bit when Egos died, but it did get a little boring towards the end, once stever seemed to fall out of the picture. Damn Tmoiy reminding people he was in the game. Aligning with the village turned out to be the right move, despite kime trying to ruin it behind the scenes. Once Langly moved the vote away from stever it was smooth sailing for us.

I asked MrT what happens in the event of a tie, he said a coin flip. If everyone who was tied died, I proposed to Langly that everyone vote for themselves to end the game. Langly & me would survive, so it would be a village + Hazard-Jenner victory. :D

Is INANTP said, it really was odd days. I made some changes as I sent out PMs, so what I listed may not be exactly what people got. Hopefully that's the only one that actually messed with the abilities rather than just the flavor text.

    Behind the scenes: Day 1
The reason kime survived the first night was because jdarksun guarded him. This did not cause the death of Feckless and Cythraul. That was caused by Feckless targeting warban, who was as claimed (killed anyone targeting him). This caused all sorts of problems for the mafia later when they assumed that going back in time caused their missions to fail/die. Though more urgently, caused a panic attack for the mafia day 1. Imagine seeing the narration and finding that not only did neither of your kills go through, but one of your members died from your own orders. Luckily for them they had the chance to rewrite history.

kime was really playing hard behind the scenes right from the start. There was a really interesting conversation between him and Retaba (I’ll leave it up to them to post) whose end result was kime being very suspicious. He used his 50% seer ability on Retaba and this was the only time it failed. Very bad luck in that sense. He never ended up revealing himself as mafia with the 25% ability.

Mordroth originally wanted to target wildwood. kime found out about this and was in contact with Void Slayer whose mission was to see wildwood dead. I think kime played this off as his doing, which isn’t entirely false (he certainly encouraged it). DeliciousTaco was Void’s mirror – he wanted Lucedes dead, and so he ended up dying when wildwood died.

Baidol targeted SLyM, who was the mafia’s backup target. He was also a watcher, so he knew that Peccavi was the assailant.

    Cythraul revealed to Spoit.

Before dying to the vote, Kuhlmeye gave half the list to warban, half to Mordroth, and the entire list to INANTP.

    3. I think the mafia/village was actually pretty balanced, despite how powerful the village was. The mafia made some mistakes in the middle of the game because they didn't understand how the village defense worked, and got scared because of a really unlikely incident with warban. My most fun moment was definitely the first night. I hope reading the mafia proboards gives some sense of the tension, but I think it's probably lost without the real-time element.

Even though I failed and got killed by the lynch My role was very enjoyable. I was a risk to the village more than mafia with seers and other action abilitys. Having me die off day 2 was really in the villages best interest.

    Behind the scenes: Day 2
Baidol revealed to INANTP that Peccavi targeted SLyM, making him likely mafia. They decided it would be best to just vig him. Mordroth attempted to do so. Unfortunately for them, it was public information that Mordroth was the vig, so the mafia set out to kill him. The original order was to kill INANTP and Mordroth, the former using time travel. When the INANTP order failed, this only confirmed their suspicion of time travel being unreliable, when in truth INANTP was guarded by both Alegis and jdarksun (I decided on the spot that jdarksun’s would override Alegis’ meaning she wouldn’t die, not sure how that would normally work). They also saw that Peccavi died. They decided to change so that they could both roleblock and kill Mordroth. It wasn’t a bad move, but they could have accomplished the same thing in one mission by using time travel, allowing another kill that night.

Baidol investigated Jason Todd, who was his apprentice, and would receive some of his powers upon Baidol’s death.

kime seered tmoiy to no effect. Cythraul revealed to Baidol.

The Ringo/warban debacle should have lead to Ringo's death, but because of vote manipulation by Langly and the mafia, Ringo was spared.

    Behind the scenes: Day 3
INANTP publicly reveals that Peccavi was SLyM’s shooter. Despite efforts to convince them of busdriver shenanigans by kime, peccavi and others, the vote stuck.

KingMole announces his power with the vote tally reveal. It has enough information that Langly can determine that the Anonymous has the same power he had. I wasn’t expecting that to be so obvious after 2 days. That either says something about my ability to do simple probability calculations, or my lack of guessing the likelihood of vote dispersion. However, because of a double-count by KingMole, it seems like there is even more manipulation, perhaps a vote-nullifier. A role Retaba would later claim.

The mafia kill Egos and Baidol, both using time travel. This is important because it set up a real shit show on day 4.

Capfalcon becomes the new vigilante (though I had planned for him to come in on day 3, this happened to coincide with Mordroth’s death). This vig was actually more powerful because the mafia weren’t warned that they would die because of the delay, yet they would still be roleblocked the day after. He targets Ringo.

Ringo and Cythraul had a hilarious conversation where Ringo thinks he's manipulating Cythraul, but Cythraul knows the whole time that Ringo is mafia and is trying not to crack. Cythraul reveals to Ringo in the night.

kime tried desperately to get Peccavi to allow him on the boards. This is another great convo, and it opens with kime saying:

    You are so mafia.

Yesterday's results (aka the death of SLyM, you know what I'm talking about), and today's results (Mordroth's target (you) combined with the narration) make that clear.

I'll give you 2 guesses as to why I'm not making it public

and ends with kime trying to get on the mafia boards, which they were not even considering.

kime tips his hat to Peccavi, which was an ability that gave a 75% chance of revealing as mafia (and no seering ability). And it would have worked, too, had only Peccavi survived.

    Behind the scenes: Day 4
After the previous close (but before mafia needed to get their orders in), Langly made a huge reveal about his ability and how the Anonymous was the other mafia. The mafia either ignored this or decided it would be too suspicious to make him die that night. Ringo turned up sick because of the poison, and Feckless and Retaba were fatigued from the previous night. This meant that only Anonymous was able to go on a mission, and he needed to go back to give the warning. This left zero ability to kill for the mafia, on a day where it was imperitive to shut down the burgeoning network.

Spoit and JasonTodd each inherited half of Baidol’s power. This was intentionally disrupting to the village. They both targeted Alegis. Jason Todd saw that she guarded INANTP. Spoit saw that Jason Todd targeted her. Somewhat of a double-confirm, though JT was already in through Baidol.

kime targeted theScruple to no effect. Capfalcon poisoned Spoit. Cythraul targets Langly, getting him and Feckless into the network.

Langly's reasoning eventually prevailed and the Anonymous was voted out. Ringo died from the poison.

    Behind the scenes: Day 5
The number of unconfirmed have dwindled, so the network decides to push on roman, basically a random call. He gets an apparently convincing cover role, and the network pushes off to Retaba at the last second.

Spoit dies of sickness. The mafia originally target Capfalcon and INANTP, but see that Alegis interfered with the latter order. They decide to just target Alegis directly, hoping it would redirect back on INANTP (thinking it was a 2-way busdriver). kime revealed that jdarksun was the guard but after they already had to get orders in.

Capfalcon poisons kime. kime doesn’t take an action despite the fact that roman has revealed himself to kime to extract information. I rolled a tip your hand to roman because I thought that would be a likely action, but it would have failed even had he taken it.

JT targets jdarksun, who tried to guard INANTP, but it was an odd day.

technically, although I did add to your death, Anon put his vote on you as well, so you would have died even if I didn't use my power to sway the vote.

    Actually what happened was:

I gave a half list to both Mordroth and Warban. They each got a 3 different names. INANTP got the full list, as well as the claimed names of people I was in contact with. I also told INANTP that mordroth and warban got half the list. I was sort of hoping this would help jump start some talking between the three of them.

I'm glad to see that getting that info out helped. I really didn't want to let the role names of all the mafia die with me day 1, and INANTP's reveal really helped with that.

Good game MrT, just wish I could have played longer!

    Behind the scenes: Day 6
kime, poisoned, is desperate to get on the boards. He really is playing hard, and came up with the scruple lie to try and save roman from the vote. roman says he’ll put him on the board but isn’t around at night and leaves the decision to Feckless, who in the end decided not to let him on. He asked for a warning, which presumably was intended to see if kime was actually sick or not. I messed up the original warning, forgetting to include him on the death list, which was later clarified, but kime’s VC was left to be a vestige of history never to be completed. It’s surprising how close he got despite the fact that his powers were no help to him whatsoever.

roman eventually does go down to the vote, and the mafia take out the last seer, JT. Cythraul revealed to jdarksun.

  • MrTLiciousMrTLicious Registered User regular
    Behind the scenes: Day 7
Feckless had to go back to give the warning, so the mafia could take no action today. There was a test to see if theScruple was really mafia, though his vote immunity had been somewhat tested the day before. Langly thought that maybe with enough votes, the immunity would disappear. They couldn’t understand why kime, a confirmed non-mafia, would lie to them. Though the INANTP/Langly logs show how ridiculous it must be for that to be the case. Almost as ridiculous as a mafia masoned with a reverse-seer lover…(whoops)

Tmoiy ends up in second place with a whopping 4 votes (2 of them Langly’s), and goes down.

  • MrTLiciousMrTLicious Registered User regular
    Behind the scenes: Day 8
KingMole is the next on the network bandwagon. Feckless kills the guard, jdark. When the mafia got down to 3 members, they were allowed to go on missions while fatigued, but this gave them a 25% chance of death. Feckless decided to risk it in the interest of time, but it bit him in the ass. He and Cythraul died. I really think they would have pulled it off had they played it slow, but them’s the breaks.
