The classic Panel de Pon (Tetris Attack) returns to the DS bringing wireless puzzle action to the portable world. Nintendo have released a selection of fresh shots for all your puzzle needs.

The game involves manipulating a stack of multi-colured blocks. To survive, players must clear blocks by linking three similar colours in a row to prevent the stack from reaching the top. Pan de Pon DS comes with four player wireless, online modes, touch screen features and voice chat!

Yes, I freaking love Tetris attack.

Appears to be played in the Brain Age/Hotel Dusk orientation. Hopefully it will be a big a remake as Tetris DS, with plenty of new stuff.

Needs more Yoshi though :.(

dicuss.

Looks a bit plain, though. At the moment I'm quite happy with the Dr. Mario + Puzzle League GBA cart I picked up recently.

Needs more Pokemon. Pokemon Puzzle Challenge kicks Tetris Attack´s butt HARD, in every way imaginable. Especially the Puzzle mode. And the cute babies like Smoochum and Magby. <3

This may very well be redundant, but: Yoshi.

    ...how...boring...looking.

I think the more important DS news is the announcement of an Ouendan sequel.

Mario & Wario needs to see a DS release. Honestly, that game is perfect for the touchscreen.

The graphics on this look a bit bland. It's like the devteam sat down and said, "Puzzle games have to look sharp and clinical, right? Let's get rid of the cute factor, then."

The Wikipedia article, based on information from this page in Japanese, says that the Wi-Fi modes are as follows:
Free Vs.: Players can play with anyone else on the network; matches in this mode do not influence competitive ranking.
Beginner Vs.: Players are matched with beginner opponents. Once certain skill conditions are satisfied, this mode becomes unavailable.
Friend Vs.: Players can play with players whose friend codes have been registered. Up to 60 friend codes can be registered. In-game voice chat is available for players who have mutually selected the "voice chat on" option. Item panels are only available in Wi-Fi matches in this mode.
Birthday Vs.: Similar to Free Vs., in that players can play with anyone else on the network. With this mode, a competitive ranking can be verified against a player of the same birthday.
So we can play against anyone, but our rank will only go up or down if we're playing against someone with the same birthday?
Someone, anyone, who can read Japanese, please tell me this is a mistranslation. Google says "Free VS similar, anyone opposition possible. With the prayer of the same birthday, you can verify the indication of ranking."

    Sounds like a semi-hilarious mistranslation.

Moreover, I'm quite satisfied with Tettatds, myself.

Thing is, I just recently started playing Tetris DS on Wi-fi and IT IS AWESOME, and my fragile point of view can't handle Nintendo changing the ranking system in any way.

My understanding is that this game will be controlled primarily with the stylus. It seems like this will make simple chaining much easier... which is bad for those of us who have worked hard to master d-pad chaining. Even so, I'm looking forward to this game more than any other in the near future.

That birthday thing makes no sense at all. It has to be a mis-translation. If not, then I pity the players who were born February 29th.

This YouTube video seems to show Stylus or D-pad control, with the DS held horizontally or vertically.
