Shepherd Smith: Okay, no one's dead and nothing was seriously damaged. Go American Steel and Engineering. Now back to the Libyan people walking around in Gaddafi's compound and taking his stuff as souvenirs. Anyone hurt or dies, I talk about it. You want earthquake news, change the channel.

In southern NJ and felt that. I'm on the 3rd floor of an old six story building and it was shaking and swaying. We evacuated because even the engineer (the building is a city hall) wasn't sure how well it would hold up from a shake like that. It's a shoddy building because we feel a strong wind go through and shake it. Gotta say it was pretty scary, just because of the building I was in. If I was at home it probably wouldn't have been a big deal.

I don't think I've ever experienced an earthquake

slept through the last one we had in the midwest and found out about it the next day

  • MarsMars Registered User regular
Yeah, I live near Terrendos, the epicenter was apparently 10 miles away. I was on the second floor of my house and it was bad enough that I couldn't stand up for the first few seconds. Thankfully we're in the middle of Bumfuck nowhere, a 5.8 is enough that it could have caused some pretty bad structural damage if it was centered in Richmond.

There was apparently an earthquake about 20 miles from where I live here in Texas a year or so ago. Super tiny and I, of course, didn't feel anything but everyone was freaking out about it.

Hey, there's also man made disasters.

    http://news.yahoo.com/fish-kill-cleanup-smelly-job-louisiana-paper-mill-202019962.html

I've done some work in the paper industry, mostly making mineral fillers to so they can use less wood pulp. That black liquor from the digestion during the Kraft process to make pulpwood into usable paper pulp is fucking nasty stuff, especially to aquatic wildlife. Good job dumping it into a river paper mill guys. Even better, way to wait like 8 hours to report it to the local authorities and EPA.

Felt it as I was going to the pool. Then they evacuated the pool and now I'm sad because I can't be at the pool.

I know, look at all this damage, definitely a failure on the Obama administration.

This is actually a conspiracy though, it was cause by government through HAARP.
