yep, that's Bowman and Tavia. So I guess they are MT and HK, insofar as they exist.

So it’s been two weeks since Prospit & Derse was released. I suppose I should give some insight on the album and my opinion of how it turned out.

First and foremost, this was an experimental album for me. I did things far outside of my norm, and because of that it exposed a lot of weaknesses I have as a musician. Prospit’s compositions are somewhat boring and are severely lacking in theory. While I am a somewhat classically trained musician, I am not properly trained in composing, only performing. My strengths have been in music production, because that’s what I’ve been focusing on for the the majority of the past 8 (going on 9 by the start of next year) years. As I’ve mentioned, most recently in the latest Pesterchum Radio podcast, I’m hitting a plateau as a producer, and I feel that the only way for me to continue to improve in that area is to improve in composing.

The strongest song, in my opinion of the Prospit half, is Center of Brilliance. It was the ideal sound I had for Prospit. Is it a great composition? It’s absolutely no concerto, but I personally think it has its moments of being quite interesting. It just… started to go somewhere and then didn’t. Oops. I had the wrong approach period to this half of the album.

With the Derse half, it shows very obviously that this was more in my element. I was able to do more synthesis and sound design. One of my strengths is creating a soundscape through the qualities of designed and processed sound, rather than designing such a soundscape through the natural qualities of instruments. I do agree with the criticisms that a few of the songs got a bit overly repetitive, and I actually should’ve done some change-ups in chord progression (especially with Derse Dreamers). Speaking of Derse Dreamers, it didn’t surprise me that this was the most popular song on the album. I knew this one would be, but I didn’t know it’d be so much of an outlier compared to the rest of the Derse half.

In my opinion, however, Core of Darkness is the strongest one of this half. I just really like how it turned out, and how fittingly conclusive it is to the album. Side note of amusement: I picked both outro songs! Core of Darkness was the only song on the album to be completely scrapped and restarted, while Center of Brilliance was the only song I never created forked experimental versions. Yet another contrast between the two.

All in all, this album I feel is a launching point for me into becoming a better musician, not just a better producer.
