you know which Disney canon film (as in, not pixar or sequels with the exception of The Rescuers: Down Under and Fantasia 2000) everyone ever forgets exists, despite it being only 25 years old? The Great Mouse Detective.
I fucking love that movie so much and I seem to be the only one, so as a little social experiment I will ask people if they've seen it.
Only one person besides me ever has, to this point (I've probably asked about fifty people at random times, most of them Disney fans), said they remember it. I have no idea what that film did to be worth forgetting.
Actually, going over the list of the full 51 canon films, there are quite a few people seem to forget exist on a regular basis, even if they have fucking Disneyworld rides. A few are entirely worth forgetting, though, so fair enough.
Also, it's a shame that Disney likes suppressing attempts at works based off of things they've already made animated adaptations of (especially if it's a specific novel), because holy fucking shit we need a Chronicles of Prydain film series.
I've just never liked it. I don't like a lot of things taken from Greek mythology unless they are very by the books which most of the time they aren't. The music was good and I understand why people could like it, but I never could.

Hercules is chronically overrated, but not awful. I could also go the rest of my life without hearing another mob of teenage girls singing that one fucking song from Mulan.

It's my second favorite Disney animated movie, behind Robin Hood.
Like, I remember before even seeing it, my little brother had gotten one of those baby storybooks for it and the first page describes Hera as Hercules' loving mother and I was like AW HELL NAW

I remember enjoying Great Mouse Detective when I watched it in the theaters as a kid, but I don't think I've watched it since.
Starting next year, four Disney and Disney•Pixar favorites will be back on the big screen in 3D: Beauty and the Beast, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc., and The Little Mermaid.
Hopefully this means a blu-ray release for The Little Mermaid!!

I was looking up a capella versions of the Circle of Life on youtube (shut up it's been stuck in my head) and every group says it differently
a couple also get quiet at the other Afrikan parts because they don't know what they are

I didn't know about the cool metal box!! Is it too late? We probably wouldn't be able to get it here anyways, in Canada.
I kinda want the 3 movie box set though... Maybe for christmas.
that sounds like an aberration to me, because I remember around here opening day screenings being sold out far in advance.

so is the picture as glorious as Beauty and the Beast? If so then I need this as soon as possible.
Exactly my issue.
I'd say I wasn't as impressed with Lion King as I was B&tB. No real reason, though.
I was in love with greek mythology as a kid and yet I got over myself!

The only thing I remember from going to Disney World when I was six is having Robin Hood hug me, I was the happiest twerp in the whole world.
