So, it's that time of year again when I start fantasizing about being a ninja, but I'm worried that I might end up with a lot of "ho hum"s instead of "holy shit a ninja!"s.
I've spoken to a number of people now who have given me mixed opinions about being a ninja and some of them think it's a little boring while others seemed to think it was cool. I guess it's a little played out at this point, but whatever. It's cheap and I think it won't make me look like a total fatass since black is slimming.
So...thoughts? And if it wasn't clear, I'm talking about Halloween.

I knew more than one friend who would go to halloween festivities as the classic sheet ghost.
If you were to make an attempt at the ninja from Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear, one of the ones from Mortal Kombat, or maybe one that also happens to be a turtle, that could be not boring.
You know what to do.
You have to sell it.
You'll be highly visible in the dark, though, and maybe not immediately recognizable as a ninja, but at least you won't be boring.
Or go as a specific ninja, like that guy from Ninja Gaiden:
Or even a ninja pirate robot.
Or go all out and be a ninja pirate robot zombie.
But I have a few problems with this idea:
a) There are no ninja pirate, ninja pirate robot, or ninja pirate robot zombie all-inclusive costume packages available for purchase.
b) I have to keep the cost down.
c) I'm very lazy. Seriously, just writing this post is kind of making me sleepy.
But lets say I forced myself to trying to throw something like that together...
Any thoughts?
On the other hand if you go as one of these ninjas I will give you mad props.
This goes double for weird combination costumes. If you want to be a cowboy pirate ninja zombie you'll probably just wind up looking like a dude who put on a blindfold before getting dressed and then tripped and fell on a makeup kit
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
Exactly this. I did this a few years ago when I was in College. Halloween day I dressed as young McNinja to go to all of my classes:

And then Halloween night at the party, I went as Dr. McNinja with a lab coat and stethoscope. Cheap and easy costumes, both, especially if you know the super-secret guarded ninja-trick of making a black t-shirt into a ninja mask.
It most Certainly couldn't be found at such an easy website like youtube, certainly not a here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=einMMqOze3U
That is scandalous.
I did have a good idea for a built costume, but it's kind of a lot of work and potentially a lot of money.
Additionally, as a side note, Ninja are, for the most part, incredibly boring, as it's unlikely anyone but their target ever knows they're there. And their target has exactly enough time to think "Oh wow, a Ninja!" before the poison takes effect.
Lashing a bunch of memes together makes a pretty bad raft.
There was another thread here recently for bald-dude costumes where the person ended up going as a ghost, but then had a Hitman costume on underneath. The double-disguise thing would also work really well for a ninja.
3clipse: The key to any successful marriage is a good mid-game transition.
What would I need?
- Ninja costume (black pants/top/mask)
- Lab/doctor coat
- Swords
- Stethoscope
- Shuriken
- Clipboard with blank medical chart
Hmm.
The NPZR is kind of a meme unto itself at this point. I mean, I understand what you are saying and, of course, the NPZR itself was lashed together at some point from existing pop culture components. But at this point it has transcended into its own meme without compartmentalization.

Uh, what?
No-one will know who you really are!
