I never begrudged Macera his fishman honorific, for he was a decent poster who earned and deserved the familiarity and closeness of his peers. He was a solid guy, and I know that when people called him a fishman, it was done out of friendship and respect for who he was. We never interacted much, but I always found his fish-forumsona comforting to have around, a weird bond of commonality that connected us when otherwise we might never had much to do with one another. I'm not as close to him as others here, but I think I can say that I'll miss his presence, and be lessened by it.
Ah hell, this is terrible. I didn't know him as well as a lot of you did, but it always sucks to lose someone suddenly like this. Condolences to everyone involved.

I wasn't very close to Macera
but
those of you who know me know how irritable, bitter and argumentative I am
I do not have a single goddamned negative thing to say about Macera, word one. He was a wonderful, clever, nice, funny, excellent individual. We never once had any major tiffs that I can name, he was always pleasant to talk to, had wonderful taste in avs and sigs, found the most unusual and disturbing things from the internet. This makes me so sad and so fucking angry that he's gone.

This is about as close as it has come in my life to someone I know dying (which I guess makes me lucky, in a way) so I'm still having a really hard time processing it.
I'm an idiot who never pays attention to stickies on the forum, so I'm much later to this than I should be.
It's kind of difficult to really get a sense for a person when your only interaction is on forum threads about goofy things like webcomics, but pretty much every one of Macera's posts made him seem like a fun person with a good sense of humor. SE++ isn't going to be the same without him.
I just want all of you to know that I love all of you, even if some of you may not feel like you've had at least a little impact on my life. All of you have. You all truly have made my life at least a little better, even if I never see your perfect selves. And I just want you to know that I will always love you and care about you all, no matter what.
I just wanted to post this in case anything ever happens to me and I hadn't done this before.
Reposting this just because this is really all I can think of to say right now
Oh man. I didn't really know him, but I always really enjoyed his posts. I remember all the way back to when he joined and he always seemed like a really cool guy. SE++ isn't going to be the same without him, but more than that I'm sorry for his friends and family whose worlds won't be the same anymore.
Rest in peace, dude.

I'm so sorry. I just got off work and I'm crying on the train, I don't even know what to say.
Oh my god. I'm trying really, really hard not to just burst into tears right now. I just wish I'd gotten to know you better Macera, wish I'd taken the time to chat outside the forums and such. Like everyone else here has said, you were a wonderful, funny, clever, nice and above all else unique individual we won't forget any time soon. I still remember your charm luring me into watching a video depicting cockroach birth. Strangely, I'll cherish that memory now.
My condolences to his family and his friends, especially you @SpookyGhost. It's not even 11am here, but as soon as it hits 12, I'll be pouring a drink for both of us. You'll be sorely missed, my aquarian comrade admirer of all things Lovecraftian that dwell in the deep. Rest in peace.
Bloody hell, macera was a stalwart of this community and it's an absolute tradgedy his life was cut short. He'll undoubtably be missed and I'll be raising my glass tonight in his honour.
Well, fuck. I saw this thread title at work and assumed Tube was going to be trolling with some crazy new gambit. Then I just saw the real story get re-tumblred or whatever(I know).
Dude made some quality posts, but I really didn't know much about him, may not be my place to speak on some sort of ambiguous grief. Still, all of my sympathies to you folks that knew him better, and I hope you guys find a lot of good things about him to share with each other.
This isn't a really a thing I do anymore, but I'm really sorry to hear about Macera. He was a good guy, a clever guy, I know I liked him, and it's sad to know that everyone who knew him, in person and online, will have this hole in their lives now.
RIP

Oh god no
I don't even know what I can say. Macera was always such an entertaining, stand-up guy. I really enjoyed talking to him about horror movie monsters and Lovecraftian beasts. I can't believe this is actually happening.
RIP Macera, you will be missed by all of us. I just wish I had drawn more pokemon and orca monsters for you while I still had the chance.
Macera would give feedback and opinions on everything and everything. We've all seen him around and we've all benefited from his insight
It didn't matter how silly or serious or abstract or real the topic might be, if he was asked for his view he'd supply it in a clear and friendly and above all enthusiastic way, even if he disagreed or had conflicting suggestions of his own to share. Or a crazy picture of an eldritch abomination.
And not once did I ever regret talking to him about something
