[Skyrim] & [The Elder Scrolls] Skyrim's second update may bork the game! Be wary!
Man, twenty hours of Skyrim footage and the only good bit I got was when I first accidentally stumbled upon Krosis with my Khajiit rogue. It was a fun moment, but the video has enough pauses from alt-tabbing and console fuckery that I would need to do some video editing to make it watchable, and I have precisely squat for video editing skill (or software).

Is there a mod that makes Dawnbreaker and Nightingale Blade benefit from smithing?
Hrm...I was able to upgrade Dawnbreaker already. What do you mean?
Despite using an ebony ingot to upgrade, it doesn't benefit from the ebony smithing perk. The swords don't benefit from any perk other that requiring arcane smithing to actually improve.
Weeks, WEEKS at work, reading these threads, and I finally caught up. I'll give a pre-thanks for monday after the thread overtakes me again.
I guess this is a good time to be hitting up the Terraria Update. I was in the works of making a 2 handed milk drinker slaughtering Orc, after taking a mage to 30. Only completed up to just after high holthgar.
Want magic resistances, otherwise my Orc is just paste.

I kind of want to put the Ebony Blade's special effects on a Daedric Greatsword and call it Blackrazor
This might be a silly question, but I'm curious if my assumption is correct. Do daggers take advantage of the Bladesman perk from the one-handed tree? I'm guessing no, since daggers are represented in the Sneaking tree (Assassin's Blade).
You are correct, they do not.
In that same vein, how do the Block perks translate for 2h users? Do you need a shield equipped to use the various bashing moves that can be learned?

Basically, the right side of the tree is open to 2h users, the left side that all specifically mention shield are not
Block talents are pretty useful for two handers, even if you only go so far as to put the first point into the first improved blocking talent for 20% better blocks.
I used to run around dual wielding in combination with my sneak skills, but I've actually been enjoying stealth + sword and board more. Eventually, when I pick up x15 dagger, I imagine I'll run a set of twin daggers for stealth kills and then have the backup sword and shield for actual combat.
I wish there was some stylish finesse oriented clothing. As in no armor bonus on it, but it would have effects like improved sneak, speech, one handed, improved block damage reduction, stamina regen, etc. An offhand dagger that is used for blocking and scaled off onehand instead of light / heavy would be absolutely awesome too.

Depends what you think is "stylish", but if your avatar is any indication, there not only is such a thing, but you'll love it. Do the Dark Brotherhood questline.

Actually, yeah, that petty much fits his bill perfectly. And the DB questline is short enough that it won't take long to get it either.
In other news, DarN has a mockup of a DarNified Skyrim UI's inventory:

Mockup meaning he hasn't actually started on it? Because come on DarN I need your UI yesterday.
Apparently there's not much he can do until the toolset hits unless he wants to do really hacky and possibly glitchy stuff like QD Inventory (not that I'm knocking QD Inventory or anything).

Man it really does suck that Unarmed doesn't get a skill. It's kind of a "fuck you" to Khajiit; on the one hand, their awesome bonus seems to encourage an unarmed character, but on the other, since it doesn't have it's own skill tree, you literally don't level up at all from fighting with your fists. Unarmed fighting even gets its own killcams. It's a real shame.

There is a kill cam when fighting humanoids, and the skill that adds your Gauntlet armor to damage (unfortunately only the base value though). Unarmed is perfectly viable, just not nearly as breakable as literally any other combat skill.
Well there is a heavy armor perk that turns heavy gauntlets into unarmed weapons, and there is an enchantment you can get that adds flat damage do all unarmed attacks that you can then put on all your stuff, so I imagine it should be all good as long as you play a heavy armor, enchanting, smithing character.
Yeah, we've known about that for a several pages now. BUT! Doesn't mean it's still not worth talking about. Bethesda games have always had great community support. There are a lot of storied modders out there that have done fantastic things for the past games, so much so that Bethesda went ahead and stole their ideas (and funnily enough, did not do them as well).
The Steamworks thing is reeeeeally interesting, though. I'm curious to see how well it's implemented.

Considering that it's Bethsoft's first time implementing such a thing, it's probably a safe bet that the answer will be "clumsy and buggy", with a possibility of getting better over a few months. Then it'll be better-implemented in their next game.

I figure that once things start to pop up outside of the scope of the system Beth implements, like the script extenders and such, it'll basically be obsoleted.
But it's an interesting idea that I'd like to see them refine.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. I've got some misguided faith that it will be totally awesome the first time though *fingers crossed*
It sounds amazing though.

I'm starting to get frustrated with buggy quests. I'm doing this thing for one of the mage guild guys. Put a soulgem into a box, heat up the box. Three times, is the quest.
I do it once, and it says, "Do it once more", but I can't get credit for heating up the soulgem after putting it into any other boxes anymore. God damn it.

Can't wait until the construction kit is out so that the fanbase can really get cracking on bugfixing the game.
By the way that is in no way hyperbolic, because we all know it's going to fucking happen so let's not kid ourselves.

It's viable, yeah, but the problem is that because it isn't a skill, you literally don't get any experience for dealing damage or killing things with your fists. That's the shame of it.
So I bought my gf Skyrim as an early birthday present on the xbox. As I was watching her play, it was so weird actually having enough time during the loading screen to actually read the tips. Will installing to the hd drastically improve load times? Shes a bit envious of how it runs on my pc in comparison so we were trying to figure out how to ease the pain.

Clearly the thing to do here is make a music video of your character running across the landscape set to "Road to Nowhere" by the Talking Heads.

Installing to the hd makes a huge difference.

Aren't you supposed to not install Skyrim on the 360? Like it actually causes more issues than it solves?
Oh my god where did you find that guy? I have a couple miscellaneous quests from him (I think that was his name) that I've wanted to finish but the quest gives no location for him and I'll be damned if I remember where some random jerk is.

I don't even give a shit about Unarmed, but I would play an Unarmed character if the perk tree was the big dipper

Won't get the game until Christmas but looking at preparing by seeing how some things like archery match up against things like magic etc.

The fact that playing Oblivion without the various Unofficial Patches is really dumb backs up your statement.

It doesn't.
I have played over 70 hours with it installed and besides a handful of blurry textures when looking at objects in the menu it is fine.
Certainly better than really long load times and the xbox making a sound like a jet engine.
