My mother never signs off of her computer (like, ever) and when she does need her password she has them written down. Only we no longer have that scrap of paper and need to get into her computer for some files she uses for her business. Anyone know how to reset a password for a windows XP account or is this going to be one of those guessing what we set it to back in 2005 games?

Nevermind, guess number 500 or so worked. Thanks anyway!

For anyone else with with issue:
On the login screen, press hold ctrl+alt, and press del twice.
Type Administrator in the username and hit enter.
If it says "Unable to log in due to account restriction," restart, spam the F8 key while all the text is going, choose "safe mode" and try again.
Once logged on, go to control panels -> users
Click on the user you want to strip the password of.
WARNING: IF YOU HAVE ENCRYPTED FILES, THEY WILL NO LONGER BE ACCESSIBLE AFTER THIS STEP. However 90% of users have no encrypted files. If the account owner doesn't know what that means, you are probably safe to continue.
Click the "remove password" button, and agree to everything it asks you.
Log off, or, if in safe mode, restart.

Note this only works if there is no admin password, but the default XP install has no password so this will work for just about all users un-savvy enough to forget their passwords.
