    Tyjak Morr, Jedi Padawan

    Character History:
Tyjak Morr was born on Corellia, the eldest son of an entire extended family of technicians, labourers and the sort, common dock workers living in the orbital shipyards. Tyjak was a happy, bright child with an optimistic, hard working nature and a curious, questioning spirit, though he could never refuse a challenge and was a habitual daredevil, enjoying the thrill of climbing the crane towers or leaping from rooftop to rooftop. His early years were filled with the great stories of heroes and villain told by spacefarers who stayed in the Corellian Shipyards on their long voyages, and Tyjak grew up appreciating the value of a good, epic tale.

Many Jedi passed through Corellia, being the hub of galactic traffic that it is, and so it was not long before he was discovered by the Jedi order. Tyjak's family were sad to see him go, and Tyjak himself was sad to leave, personally promising himself that one day he would return to his family, but was also excited at the prospect of such an adventure.

Tyjak trained for many years under the Jedi at the Academy on Coruscant. Though not really a trouble-maker, his free-spirited and adventurous nature meant that he was often punished for doing such things as sneaking out of the academy to watch the swoop racing, go for drinks with the common workers that are so common on the Galactic capital, make death-defying journeys across the towering urban peaks and so on. He embraced his studies, however, finding the beliefs and history of the Jedi fascinating, and always seeking to sate his desire for a new intellectual or physical challenge. Tyjak mostly is very supportive of the Jedi order, but the few criticisms he has he is happy to voice loudly and clearly, such as the way that Anakin Skywalker was forced to hide his marriage in a way which was clearly not healthy (and also for other, more personal reasons), the questionable way that Palpatine's summary execution was carried out, and that the beaurocracy of the Republic seems to have huge problems with corruption and decadence, supporting the lifestyle of the rich while doing little for the troubles of the working people.

Tyjak also has a secret. For some time he has engaged in an illicit romance with his fellow Padawan, a high lady of Naboo, Eliza Rholar. Tyjak cares very strongly for Eliza and while he somewhat enjoyed the thrill of keeping their relationship unseen by their masters, he knows that Eliza hates it, and is growing tired of the deception himself. He wishes the two of them could be open, and he himself does not truly care about the disapproval of the Jedi Order, but he knows that reputation means a lot to Eliza, and has agreed to stay silent for now. He has confided in his close friend Dol Foom about the matter, who is sworn to secrecy, and Dol is one of the few who know that underneath Tyjak's easy smile he is rather frustrated by the situation he is in. His optimistic nature is keeping him afloat for now, but it is straining somewhat of late.

His masters disapprove of his desire for action and adventure, and also his rather outspoken views. However, they recognise that there is no darkness in Tyjak as yet, simply a desire to do good, and that his desires and views are simply an extension of his examining how to achieve that aim. In any case, Tyjak is still young and untrained, he has many years ahead of him to develop the peace and serenity of a Jedi Knight.

    Personality:
Tyjak has the look of an archetypical teenager, he is tall and gangly, has floppy, perpetually messy blond hair, and his tough, workers clothes always seem to be somewhat dishevelled from his latest adventure. He is friendly, compassionate and cheerful, always with a grin on his face, and is known amongst his fellow students to be a good sort when you need someone to cover for you, help you out with something or just mess around with. Loyal and hard-working, Tyjak is also free-spirited and independent, an unrepentant daredevil, and seeks some adventure outside of the mostly boring Jedi Academy. The summons of Master Skywalker make the hairs on the back of his neck tingle with anticipation. Maybe she will finally give him something fun to do!

    Relationships:
Tyjak has many friends in the Academy as well as no few friends outside it who he sneaks off to meet every know and again. Tyjak considers friendship to be important and considers his friends to be very important to him. He is loyal to his masters and values their advice and teachings, even if he does thing they can be a bit stuffy at times.

    Dol Foom: Kel Dor Jedi

    History:
Though a Kel Dorian, Dol only ever has been to his species' home planet of Dorin once, when he was an infant and his parents took him there to be named (as is tradition in Kel Dor culture). The Foom clan is an offshoot of the more famous Koon family. About 150 years prior to the Skywalker/Amidala scandal, Dols great-grandfather, Baren Koon, then a Jedi Knight of no particular skill, was expelled from the Jedi Order for having a secret spouse of his own. The Koon family was so embarrassed by the incident that they expelled Baren and his immediate family members. He took the surname of Foom and moved to Correlia. Since then, the Foom clan has trained its own members in the ways of the Jedi. While the Order officially does no condone these actions, the Fooms have been known to work with official jedi members on matters taking place in the Correlian system.

Dol, at the age of 17, decided to buck the trend and was accepted into the Order. Now at the age of 26, the Kel Dor is well onto his way to Jedi Knighthood. Overall he is an accomplished Force user, making his clan proud. There has even been talk of the Foom family being accepted back into the Koon fold. However, Dol is very vocal about his issues with various aspects of the Order, including their overall conservative attitude towards things like love and empathy. He is not alone in this sentiment though, as many of the younger generation of jedi espouse views that are similar....

    Personality:
Dol is both typical and atypical of a Kel Dor. He is quiet and contemplative, but like all of his species, he believes in quick action when needed. Still somewhat naive, Dol has a very black and white outlook on life and moral decisions. His view of the Jedi Council is one of general trust in their leadership, though he has begun to question more and more their relative lack of willingness to change outdated policies that had nearly destroyed the Republic in the past. This sentiment has gotten him in trouble in the past...mostly due to the fact that he rarely knows when to hold his tongue.

Dol is very friendly and kind, and has little problem finding emotional bonds with his masters and fellow students. For close friends, Dol would gladly throw himself into danger to save them.

everything is looking good so far; posting concepts is fine but i'd also like y'all to work with each other and sort out some relationships between you

you don't all have to know everyone else, but i'd like each character to know at least two others in our merry band here (and ideally be friends at least)

also just some very basic tidbits to keep in mind; this is, time-wise, where the New Jedi Order era would normally be happening (don't worry there won't be any vong)

however since the republic never fell you also have a lot of things that never happened:

no ewoks! the forest moon of endor is still pretty much unknown to the galaxy as a whole

none of the ships developed by Incom for the Rebellion exist yet

no imperial ships (tie fighters, star destroyers)

    alderaan is still here

there's more but those are some of the biggest differences

    That's a good point Arcanis.

I don't think it would be a stretch at all to suggest that Tyjak and Dol Foom are already friends, even quite close ones. After all, they are of reasonably similar ages and share similar views on the Jedi Order and Code, and are both people who seem to make friends easily. Dol is the older brother who is the voice of reason and thought, and Tyjak is a bit more reckless.

It definitely seems like they would get along well and become friends, and seeing as this is Star Wars where noble heroes are the name of the game, a dynamic duo (or titanic trio, or fantastic four if more characters come along who would fit in) like Tyjak and Dol seems to fit the theme quite nicely.

    Sulnaq Arwak

    Backstory
Sulnaq was comfortably raised by rich doting parents on Dac. From an early age she showed a temperament that did not always fit the Mon Calamari way of life: instead of patience and acceptance, she questioned everything and everybody. Her passion to explore and discover new things got her into trouble a number of occasions in her youth. Her parents patiently put up with all of this, even encouraging her to expand her talents. They were a little disappointed when she chose archaeology instead of a position in the Republic's space fleet. However, they happily shipped her off to Coruscant, looking forward to a little peace and quiet around the house.

Sulnaq now works on Tatooine at ancient Jawa and Ghorfa dig sites, trying to uncover the secrets of their social divergence. She wrote her dissertation on Jedi artifacts and has also worked on Katarr with a team of Miraluka experts. She is not above buying artifacts from smugglers (something her parents would be horrified to know) and she likes to associate with riff-raff. On her off-hours she can be found in the Mos Eisley Cantina.

    Personality
Sulnaq is rebellious and sarcastic, but she's also very generous and passionate about learning. When given a choice, she will usually choose the "right thing to do". The only time she can be tempted from this path is when something piques her curiosity. In order to acquire a new object to study, she will throw caution to the wind and consort with the lowest of the low. She doesn't have a lot of friends and thinks that she is friends with people that would claim they barely know her. This is probably because she would rather discuss multi-class dwellings in pre-Sith War Zabrak society than talk about herself.

So she definitely knows Koyi from the bar, and she could know Jedis as well. If someone else wanted to play a scout, I can re-jigger her for a noble instead.

one other thing i forgot to mention is the jedi order as a whole

ill post later the roster of the high council, but the biggest thing to remember is it never fell, so you have the same strictures that have governed the jedi for millennia

so what i need from you jedi is... your masters

or you can let me do it but i would prefer you came up with them

i am also going to be posting a mini questionnaire for you all to answer when i get home

  • SolarSolar Registered User regular
I think it would be better if you chose them

After all, you don't get to pick your master and I presume you will be playing around with established characters anyway, so it's just easier that way. Besides, then you can pick masters who give you the storytelling opportunities you want.

  • HeirHeir Ausitn, TXRegistered User regular
    ^ I like this idea.

The other...maybe have someone (or multiple someones) be masters over others?

    QUESTIONNAIRE TIME

    1. What does your character Love? With a capital L. Even the most reviled, evil despot has something, somewhere they care about a great deal, and would give of themselves to protect - perhaps even sacrificing their life to protect and care for. This could be a friend, family member, or lover. Perhaps a homeworld, a group of people, or a village that once sheltered you. Maybe you have a soft-spot for kittens.

    2. What does your character Hate? With a capital H. Even the most benevolent and well-meaning character has something, somewhere they hate, would go out of their way to harm, or would irrationaly distrust. This could be an individual in the character's past, or a group of people. Even a planet. Perhaps the character has a prejudice against Twi'leks, or has sworn to destroy the bounty hunter clan that destroyed his village as a child.

    3. Why is your character willingly (and eagerly) working for the Republic? Why is your character an active participant and willing to work with the rest of the party? Are they devoted to a cause? Do they have a simple love of credits? Are they devoted to stamping out a threat?

    Loves:
Knowledge, old objects and discovering things others don't know. Secrets. Beer. Museums. She would probably protect the Museum of the Force in Coruscant with her life. She certainly has almost given her life in the pursuit of knowledge or artifacts. She does love her parents very much and she's still searching for that special Mon Cal to share her love of primitive Wookie settlements with.

    Hates:
People who follow the law without question. Rules were meant to be thought about, picked apart, or bent. The only people she makes an exception for (mostly) are Jedi. She's very impressed with their culture and doesn't realize that even though she claims to hate people telling her what to do, she almost always listens to Jedi without questioning.

She also really isn't a big fan of Nar Shaddaa. She was kidnapped and had to be ransomed by her parents when she was there following a lead on a stolen Miraluka force-sensitive artifact.

    Why the Republic:
The Republic has paid her salary generously and she enjoys contributing to their museums. As long as her curiosity remains piqued, she is loyal and almost always steadfast. She can't stand leaving something half-done to the point that sometimes she fixates. Deep down, if she really analyzed herself and even though she claims to be a rule-breaker, she is a Mon Cal who loves stability and is patriotic. On the surface, any chance to learn more about Jedis will keep her going for a long time.

Hmmm, I am definitely thinking Sak and my character could have some history. Here's the basics:

    Alek Centarri, Blaster-for-Hire (Human Scoundrel)
    Backstory

Alek was born in the scum-ridden underlevels of Nar Shadda. His mother was a spice-addicted exotic dancer, and, according to her, he had no father. Bringing it up just resulted in her crying, cursing, and her running off to get strung out on deathsticks again, so Alek long ago gave up on that.

He was always the smallest among his hoodlum friends, but he made up for it by always being first to throw a punch, snatch a wallet, or jack a cop's speeder. That all changed when he ended up sticking some nerf-head hitting on his girl. Alek watched the guy bleed out right in front of his eyes, and for what? That wasn't how Alek wanted to go out, a vibroknife in the gut fighting over a streetcorner in this hellhole. That moment changed Alek's destiny forever.

    Current Activities

Advancing to the present day, Alek is a part-time mercenary, full-time wanderer. He's not above robbery and thievery when he needs to, but opposes bringing harm to anyone who isn't an active threat to himself or those he's protecting. He's comfortable on both sides of the law, one day providing escort for a merchant's shipment of high-value goods, and the next day getting in a shootout with the law to get a fugitive off-world. He's guided by his morals as much as by credits and has walked out on jobs when the customer demanded he do something he didn't think was right.

So, he's open to starting just about anywhere, and likely has run some jobs on Tattoine. Maybe even tipped Koyi off on a few baddies that were getting out of line.

Sulnaq and Alek are great for linking to Koyi. Heck I can easily see Sulnaq and Koyi getting along pretty well since she is one of the more or less honest people to be found around. That cantina is going to be a great setting for their first meeting haha.

Alek is a bit more complicated. They could have crossed paths a few times but his willingness to work on both sides of the law and his criminal background would probably keep them from forming a friendship at this stage of the game. That may change as time goes on but it will be a hard road. I see them have a sort of working relationship, when he's on Tatooine doing some work she probably makes a point of keeping an eye on him.

    What does your character love?
Several years after she joined the Tatooine police force Koyi intercepted a group of Jawas who had been smuggling parts off of transport ships and into the desert. Most of the droids had been returned unharmed and their Corellian onwer had been so delighted to have them back that he rewarded Koyi with one of her own. A slightly used protocol droid to be precise.

Initially she didn't care for the machine and she allowed it to carry out a few basic duties around what was laughably called the Mos Eisley police station. The droid's ability to speak more than a million languages proved very handy and in time Koyi began to rely on Y9's advice as the droid exercises far more patient thatn her.

Amazingly enough Y9 is one of the few beings in the galaxy who you could actually say Koyi loves today.

    What does your character hate?
Hutts, slavery, Ryloth, the Jedi Order, and criminals. She has strong feelings about slavery for obvious reasons and it is a touchy subject for her as it is lawful on many worlds throughout the Republic. Koyi hates Ryloth and views her homeworld as one of the worst places in the galaxy. The fact that selling Twi'leks into slavery has become common practice there is a large part of her dislike for Ryloth.

Koyi dislikes the Hutts as they are a symbol of everything that she has worked against for most of her life. She'll work with them because that is something she is forced to do but she'd like nothing better than to put one of them behind bars or out of an airlock.

Anakin Skywalker passed on a seed of dislike for the Jedi Order. It grew into a strong hatred of the order in Koyi as she feels the Jedi have abandoned countless worlds for an easy life in their temples. That said she has had precious little exposure to Jedi. She doesn't hate Jedi, she just feels the Order is run badly. it is a hate for an organization, not it's members.

Why is your character working with the Republic?
I'm not 100% sure what Master Leia will say when they enter the Council Chamber so this may change but Koyi is there out of a feeling of obligation to Anakin. If she can help the children of the man who freed her than she will do so, even at the cost of her own life.

Given her tendencies to socialize with miscreants and other ne'er-do-wells at the Mos Eisley Cantina, I'd definitely say they run in similar circles and probably do business regularly. I'm thinking her preferred topics of conversation are a bit above Alek's head, though ;)

    Loves
Alek loves the feel of a well-balanced, perfectly calibrated blaster pistol in his hand, and he loves using one to make some small piece of the galaxy a better place (at least for a little while). He loves the feeling after pinching a big score from someone he feels didn't deserve to have it in the first place. Most of all, as drug-addled as she is, Alek still loves his mother. He left her behind on Nar Shadda, and he's always regretted that he couldn't convince her to leave that smogpit.

    Hates
Alek hates bullies. Even more so, Alek hates bullies in nice suites who have to pay some pig-faced gamorrean thugs to do their dirtywork. Most of all, though, Alek hates those that value credits more than people's lives.

    Republic
Alek takes republic jobs because 1.) they pay up without trying to shortchange you (or kill you), and 2.) when they require violence be done, it's usually somebody who had it coming anyhow.

    1. Loves = Tyjak loves his family. He was young when he left them to join the Jedi but was still old enough to remember them still, and he misses them often. He also loves Eliza, his secret girlfriend amongst the Jedi Order.

    2. Hates = This is difficult, since Jedi aren't supposed to hate anyone and indeed reject those negative emotions. Tyjak has never really had an experience in his life that has caused him to truly hate someone, and is very friendly and optimistic by nature. However, as a child from a working class family Tyjak was raised to be suspicious of the rich and powerful, and he mistrusts the trade corporations as well as the ruling Senatorial class and their bureaucratic advisors. He hates to see the poor and disadvantaged be exploited by the rich and powerful, and feels that there is too much inequality in the Republic where little to nothing is done to combat this except by some planetary governments. He has a particular hatred of Slavers, who prey on the weak and innocent, and will always try to help free slaves and destroy the slave trade where he can. Also, Corporations are given far too much of a free reign, in his opinion, especially following the actions of the Trade Federation which nearly caused the Republic to splinter.

Tyjak also hates that he cannot openly be with Eliza and is forced to sneak around like a criminal or spy to be with her.

    3. As a Jedi, Tyjak is sworn to be a protector and defender of peace and justice, and he embraces this, feeling that his force powers are a lucky gift that he should use to help those around him. He does believe that supporting the Republic is the best way to protect that peace and justice, however he also believes that the Republic is flawed and needs to be changed in order to fulfil the best interests of it's common people rather than it's elite. He is dedicated to the Jedi Code, but considers it lacking in certain areas. He is not so arrogant as to believe he knows best, but does think that the wisdom of the Code has become unquestioned over the years, and he considers that a mistake.

    Loves:
Dol, much like the rest of his family, is fiercely prideful on the matters of his clan. He sees his clan's "scandal" as a badge of honor, and is proud of how they continued the Jedi tradition even among the controversy and adversity that faced his great-grandfather. His masters admonish his stubborness to let go of family pride, as they see it as a form of attachment that should be squelched.

    Hates:
Dol hates injustice. It's a deep-seated feeling that was instilled in him as a child by his clan. They had always viewed them being ostracized as a grave injustice. When his masters would use the Skywalker/Amidala scandal as an example of the dangers of attachment, Dol would always secretly pity Anakin and the personal torment he went through. As much as he loves the Jedi Order and the Republic, he recognized the hypocrisy in some of its policies and practices.

Beyond that, the whole reason Dol joined the Order is he felt it would be the best way to right the wrongs of the galaxy..of the injustices he saw in day-to-day life.

    Republic:
Even after being expelled from the Koon clan, Dol Foom's family has always been fiercely loyal to the Republic, the Jedi Order, and their ideals. They, like many Kel-Dor, saw the Clone Wars as a clear cut battle between Good and Evil. While the revelation that Palpatine was secretly orchestrating the whole war was quite a shock to their faith in the Republic, they have remained unwavering in their loyalty.

For Dol, he has inherited much of this loyalty, though he has his own personal doubts about how things panned out those many years ago. Overall though, he feels that any issues he has with the Jedi Order and the Republic it serves can best be fixed from within, peacefully.

dani - Sulnaq Arwak, Female Mon Cal Scout
sak - Koyi 'Rav Muvunc, Female Twilek Soldier
heir - Dol Foom, Male Kel Dor Jedi
squish - Alek Centarri, Male Human Scoundrel
solar - Tyjak Morr, Male Human Jedi

so if this party layout is correct, adding a female human soldier would be making it a little combat oriented. also about 50% female characters (so a lot like firefly - zing!)

clearly what this party needs is some class.

working on a noble concept now

    Introducing...

    Eliza Rholar
    animejedi.jpg
    Background:
Being the daughter of a Duke of the Royal House of Naboo meant that Eliza and her sister had only the best. The best nurseries, the best schooling, the best tutors.

It also meant that when she began to show signs of force-sensitivity, her father's connections practically guarenteed her acceptance to the academy.

Throughout her early training, her noble heritage and wealth made her feel like an outcast. She found Dol Foom to be a kindred spirit, and the two became close friends and confidants.

When the time came to be assigned a master, at least in her mind, she recieved the best master: Master Luke Skywalker. When he mysteriously disappeared, she had to be physically restrained from running off to search for him.

As she grew, she and fellow padawan Tyjak Morr became close friends, and eventually more. She tried to keep their blossoming relationship a secret, but was caught by Master Luke. Thinking that this meant she would have to put an end to their relationship, Eliza broke down, crying, trying to explain how much she loved Ty, and how it wasnt fair that the Jedi wanted to keep them apart.

Master Luke simply responded with a knowing smile, saying "You're a wise and capable jedi, Eliza, and I trust your judgement. I consider the matter resolved."

During what little free time she had during her training, she would slip away from the academy and visit one of the many cantinas on Coruscant. While there, she made contact with Alek Centarri who would occasionally run messages and small care packages between her and her mother on Naboo. She knew that if her father ever found out about her breaches of the jedi requirement of no family contact, he would disown her, or worse.
    Personality:
Eliza proud and arrogant, believing she deserves only the best of the best, and will fight to get it if it is not given to her. She is passionate about everything she does, and strives for excellence in all areas (to the point of a compulsive perfectionism). She is fiercly loyal to, and protective of the few people she loves in her life, above all else.
    Loves:
As a child, she loved the affluent lifestyle, and being able to have whatever she wanted. She still loves the idea of that kind of life, though she is not sure if it will be possible for her.

She loves Master Luke Skywalker. He was her surrogate father in the loneliness of the academy. She was closer to him than she ever was with her real father.

She loves Dol like an older brother. Even though she still makes contact with her old family, to her, Dol and Master Luke are her family now.

She is falling in love with Ty. She hates the idea that they cannot be together
    Hates:
The restrictions in the Jedi Code. The fact that she cannot openly speak with her parents. The fact that she cannot openly be with Ty.

Droids. Her father used to tell her and her sister bedtime stories about the war with the Droids, and they fueled her nightmares. She doesnt trust droids, and believes they are all secretly biding their time before they strike again.
    Why the Republic?
Because she knows nothing else. She has never once thought of dissent, because the Republic and the Jedi Order are all she knows, despite how frustrating they are.

Sounds good psolms, add a little spice to the game! Also clearly the two are very different so in that sense they compliment each other nicely. Lots of good roleplaying possibilities. Clearly, Tyjak loves Eliza and has the same problems she does with the whole situation, adding to his personal issues with the Jedi Code.

Sak I am sure that someone is up to the challange, the dashing Alek Centauri, perhaps?

FYI, I think Dol and Eliza's friendship should be interesting. Dol tends to find rich people to be part of the problem when it comes to social injustices. His family was never really given anything, they had to work hard to achieve everything they have.

This image will suffice for Dol Foom:
