What is the difference?

If I have a given 20" lcd (widescreen) at 1680x1050 and another monitor at the SAME resolution, but in 22" ... what is the real difference ?

So far, i can figure about $50-$100 .. but for the same resolution, the 22" gives more screen space but less 'crispness' then the 20" ?

It's not that big of a difference, especially at that resolution.

You won't really notice a difference in the crispness, I have a 15'' monitor for my laptop at that resolution, and my friend has something like a 22'' monitor. I can't really see the difference in crispness there.

But yeah, the only thing that would differ is the "crispness"

....I think, this is all from simple observation anyway

Well, what matters most is brand. I recently had a 22" Sceptre that broke within 3 weeks. It was a great monitor, but came with it's problems such as a long strip of broken pixels and a dead AVI port in 3 weeks.

My new Samsung 20" looks better, but it slightly smaller. Since it's a Samsung, I doubt it will break in 3 damn weeks.

Both LCDs were 1680x1050 and the Sceptre had a better contrast ratio, but not the better picture (still damn good though). I'd recommend the Samsung 20" SyncMaster 204BW.

If you buy it now, it's $250 from newegg (that is including the $30 mail-in-rebate).

Well the Samsung 20" SyncMaster 205BW is £210 here in the UK, or about $400. *sigh*

The 204 goes for up to $700 too... Ouch.

well.. i happened to be looking at the samsung ... although Acer (Gamers Line AL2051W) has a 8bit panel for the same price @ newgg

So ... for the given resolution (1680x1050), a 22" is just giving me 2 more inches of real estate... i can't see how 1680 pixels in 20" of space is the same as 1680 is 22" os space .. it seems SOMETHING needs to be given up...

I am dropping a dell 1950fp .. so I want to trade UP in quality ... hence the acer... I game 99W% of the time, but i want colors to look nice too!

Each pixel will be bigger. So it will be easier on bad eyes but also less sharp for good eyes. I'd go for the 20".

    excellent advice ... thanks all...

so what is everyone happy with in 20" I like that acer .. and I am very close to just pulling the trigger... but the addition of speakers and the lack of useful features like usb ports, etc might dissuade me.
