Also, on principle, I'm annoyed with anyone who knows Batman's secret identity. I don't like that I know Batman's secret identity.
I was reading Supergods and had no idea that Batman's secret identity was kept, well, secret for like the first 3-5 issues of his appearance.
They introduced all of the supporting cast but Bruce Wayne just looked like a dopey millionaire. Then after a few issues SURPRISE HE'S BATMAN IT'S ALL AN ACT.
that's one thing I thought was a really cool idea in tim burton's batman
I think if it was done well, a story taking place early in the batman timeline about an investigative reporter trying to get to the bottom of this Batman nonsense could be really really cool
unfortunately that movie blew ass
but maybe if I'm lucky someone will tell me that as a matter of fact there is a comic/graphic novel that is about exactly that!

Red Robin did this. Vicki Vale used logic to piece together the Bat-family but Tim Wayne faked an assassination attempt to throw her off of it.

What about instead of an investigative reporter there is a nine-year old kid?
Nolan's Batverse is meant to be one grounded in reality and Batman obviously has to sound wildly different from Bruce Wayne since the latter is on tv a whole bunch.
Batman was actually designed to be super successful.
Bob Kane and Bill Finger sat down and looked at various stories and intentionally took what worked and what didn't and made a Frankenstein monster from the corpses of Zorro, The Shadow, Superman and others.
He was designed to be a best seller from the get go. Business came before the creative process.
as opposed to Superman who was just a neat idea Siegel and Shuster had that they never really expected to take off.

I mean it is hard to follow the range of the multi-talented Michael Keaton...
like I think a proper Batman story should spend at least 30-40% of the time with him as Bruce Wayne. A lot of writers just use him as an act or a mask and write him the same as when he is wearing the cowl.
But Bruce Wayne has his own personality, even if it is just Batman playing pretend. Nolan summed it up well with:
Drive sports cars, date movie stars, buy things that are not for sale... who knows, Master Wayne? You start pretending to have fun, you might even have a little by accident.
Despite his best efforts, Bruce can't help but be his own man a little bit.

can I get a "to read" list on Bane then please
I would like to actively like this villain and I appear to have been doing him a disservice

I thought that was pretty rad.
Batman: Knightfall
Secret Six
there is also the storyline where he teams up with Batman to take down King Snake but those three are the highlights
apparently he is fucking huge and menacing though
they can't understand half of what he says
because this happens:
hopefully they can clean it up a bit before release, especially since they are just now entering post
I can't imagine they won't do some ADR in post.

This is something I'm curious about
Is that a thing that's likely to happen? Because they seemed to set it up in Begins and I was always hoping they'd come back around to it

now there are two incomprehensible silly-sounding growling men
Yeah that is so ham-fisted that pig populations across the world had to drop by half in order to get the ham and make the fist
Also Prometheus has a bunch of stupid bullshit things like Mental Chaff that are supposed to make him so awesome
But really Superman would just bust his head and that's that
Also, I say again, low-rent Taskmaster

the proud
who is fine with Bale's Batvoice

driving around in a blue convertible shooting criminals from the driver's seat with a pistol
is Citizen Wayne

I like it too
Plus rumors of Liam Neeson being on set

We all know that the legend will never die.
it's just a raspy voice
I don't really get what all the complaining is about

Yes.
this is absolutely correct
I too am fine with it and feel there is an element of realism in a dude trying to sound wildly different & menacing.
Some billionaire playboys aren't classically trained voice actors.
Bale is, without a doubt, the best Bruce Wayne. I mean just look at scenes like this:

I think only secondarily
Mostly he comes from Zorro and The Shadow which both come from The Scarlet Pimpernel
And of course Superman

and his wayne is so good that those scenes are forgiven forever
