The arm behind me twitches, then dives forward, slamming the jack into my spine, letting out a hiss of steam as the slam into my shoulders and back. The lights of HEX flare, the construction below doubling in speed.
"It's been wonderful. Good night, Slates. I will see you very soon."
As the arm hauls me up toward the command room high above, the Slates drop to the ground, bodies slumping across shiny dark red plastic.
When they wake, the city will greet them.
