Buying a Nintendo 3DS on the cheap! (gift help)

So I am trying to pick up a 3DS for a friend in Toronto when I visit next month. She is a hard-working professional illustrator interning in an animation studio, as well as going to school full-time. There is some software on the 3DS that I really think will help her out both in her studies and at work, so i'm shelling out the green for one as a gift!

The thing is, I only make minimum-wage down here in Texas ($8), so something like this can be pretty pricey! I was wondering if there are any good promotional sales going on either online or at the local game stores that would help shave down the cost of picking one of these up? I'm googling coupons for various stores with little success.

Any help is appreciated!

Amazon has them used starting at around 150 depending on the color. Pretty much the same prices as I'm seeing on Ebay.
Unfortunately, we're a bit past holiday sales so options are going to be limited.
Gamestop has them new @170, if you have any old games or systems you don't use you could trade them to bring that price down a bit.
Looks like WalMart may have the best deal at the moment, it's still 170, but it comes with a case and a game - http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nintendo-3DS-w-Bonus-Game-and-Case/17201142

Everywhere I've looked they've been in the 170 area for a new one, 150ish or so used. You may want to check out craigslist, toss up a "Looking to buy" ad.

I believe that the prices on non-used game consoles are fixed. You might find places that offer free giftcards/games/accessories/etc. though.
