Dungeon Raid and Robotek have consumed my soul as far as mobile gaming is concerned. H5s to and a pox upon those recommended those games here. Until I can afford a tablet these games are my go to for recreation while catching up on the latest TV with the Mrs.
Okay looks like I have to give Dungeon Raid a look. And Robotek. And Dungeon Village. And Pocket League Story. And... THANKS GUYS.
To give something back, here's one I haven't seen mentioned here yet: New Star Soccer. It's maybe not the most realistic soccer "simulation", but it's really really (REALLY) addictive. Basically you're a rookie football player and try to keep moving on to bigger and better things. The game includes quite an impressive number of leagues and teams from different countries, if you're good enough you get to represent your country in the World Cup and the continental championship of your home continent, and so on and so on.
I picked up a random game during the sale and it is way too addicting. The game is called Grabatron and fills my need for tilt controls and the old crane arcade games.
So I just bought my first smartphone (Galaxy Nexus) and I'm looking for awesome games. Do we have any turn-based games that I could play against my friends, ala Hero Academy that aren't real-time?
Dammit, guys. I was looking over this post to see about some games for my incoming Dragon tablet, and my mother happened to pass by as I was clicking some links. By the shine in her eyes when seeing Dungeon Raid, I think I'm not going to actually get to try my tablet for a while. I'm blaming you people :P.

Whats a Dragon tablet?
It's a somewhat low-cost 9.7" android tablet. Bought mostly so I can carry my pdfs and comics around to read them, in honesty. Full model name is nvsbl Dragon.

Yeah. There are three races that pretty much correspond to humans, robots, and insects (similar to Terrans/Protoss/Zerg). Each race has a unit that can take over a certain unit from another race (the human engineer can reprogram one of the robot units, the robots can take over one of the insect units, and the insects can infect and transform the basic human marine).
Instead of traditional resource gathering (send unit to mine, unit comes back with money) you gain a certain amount of points every turn based on how many bases you control. A base is an individual hex, and units inside of one have better defense. Units are created at bases, different units require different amounts of points. You capture a base by sending a unit to an empty base.
There are different abilities, one unit can move twice in one turn, one unit can burrow and travel underground, one unit can teleport. Humans can use EMPs to disable robots for a turn, robots can use a UV bomb that damages humans and insects, and insects can infect humans, which poisons them each turn.
Different terrain affects movement and attack/defense as well. There are air and water units, and you need to control a harbor to build water units.
Units can level up to get slightly more health if they manage to destroy enough other units.
There is also a map editor, and you can share maps online.
Yeah. Not a lot of 4:3 tablets for a reasonable cost around, and I wanted a 4:3 rather than a panoramic because it's mainly for reading and RPG books usually have 4:3 ratios, not 16:9. This one was affordable, acceptable, and of the correct ratio, so I snagged it.
This morning I discovered Robotek and it has charmed me in a way I haven't been charmed by an Android game in a long time. It's sort of a semi-tactical, turn-based robot fighting game with chance added by an interactive slot-machine mechanic. You can level-up and upgrade various powers. There's a campaign mode and multiplayer though I've only played with the former so far.
Totally free to play with an option to buy upgrade points but the devs state clearly that you don't have to pay to win. I can see how if you lost enough in the campaign you would run out of power and be unable to continue, but any purchase starting from $1 appears to give you the ability to recharge. I suppose if you're really cheap you could just reset the campaign altogether but I have to say from what I've seen so far it'd be a crime not to give these guys a buck.
I can not decide if I hate you or love you for introducing this game into my life. I guess my neglected fiancee, enraged colleges and dead pets will have to tell you since I'M TO GODDAM BUSY PLAYING ROBOTEK!!!!!
I'm looking at picking up another Kairosoft game, any recommendations? My favorite of the ones I've played is probably Game Dev Story, followed by Pocket League Story. Grand Prix story was good, but I didn't like how dirt/ice tracks took completely different cars that were hard to make.
I wish they'd make an American football game, or, more likely, a baseball one.
Cardinal Quest is out for Android now. Anyone taken the leap?
Also, Windows Phone 7 has Civilization Revolution. WINDOWS PHONE 7. Can I cry now?
Edit: I just found Wagic: The Homebrew. It's exactly as much of a Magic clone as it sounds. Legal-wise, it's been cease and desisted once before, so everything in it should be lawyer approved (tm). Unfortunately I've only played Magic once, so I have no idea what I'm doing. But it seems pretty snazzy.
Edit 2:
Good news everyone! Android is getting Civilization and Pirates! Bad news: Take-Two Asia is making them, and the press release notes that they'll be "bringing them to new audiences" as "social titles." I really hope it's absolutely nothing like the Civ World Facebook game.
But it probably will be, and that probably means that we won't be getting a real version of the game for a while. Meanwhile, dumb cell phones got a Civ 5 port last year. I don't understand why they hate us.

The new Cafeteria Nipponica is pretty fun. My gf and I have been playing the hell out of it recently.
TripleTown is discounted* to $4 right now, possibly because of a recent content update. Really, really good match three game; better than Dungeon Raid imho.
* Well, the in-app purchase that unlocks the full game. Same difference.
Wow, yeah, this Blood Brothers game is pretty great. Feels like a Ogre Battle 64 lite kinda. Much better interface and more intuitive than Rage of Bahamut.
Picked up a retro-looking puzzle game for $1 called Treasure Sails! (yes, with the ! in the name).
The point is to get to the treasure before you run out of moves (ship rations). There are other mechanics in-play in later puzzles such as currents (use up 1 move, but take you along a certain path on the map), whirlpools which change the direction of currents, keys and locks, and obstacles like rocks that block your path and force you to plan out your moves.
It seems a little short (20 tutorials, 20 "normal" puzzles, 20 "hard" puzzles) so I'm hoping it will update regularly with new content every now and then.
when is chrono trigger suppose to be out? i keep checking the the market every so often since i heard it was coming last year and still.. nothing.
annoyed me no end when i upgraded to a galaxy s2 from a iphone and then they release chrono trigger on ios.. i was like "daaamn you! damn you all to hell!"
Pretty good one day $1 sale going on over in the market. GTA3 and ME: Infiltrator seem like the standouts, but there might be more in there worth getting. I desperately want that ME:I price over on iOS.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention! Wanted ME for a while now, but didn't want to drop the £5 that it was. 69p though? That's absurdly good.

Referral codes kind of scare me in games, though, because they usually suggest that I won't feel like I'm playing the game well enough unless I trick 10 other people into playing with my code.

How did you find this one? Pretty decent stuff.
Oddly enough, it was a random ad in Draw Something with some nice art, lol.

It's in the sale but still nearly a fiver, looks kinda tactics-y.
FUCK I don't have time for this game.
Why did you make me aware of its existence?

I'm hoping for something more like a turn-based strategy game.
Uniwar is basically turn based Starcraft on hexes.
It's a lot of fun.

Awesome! Has there been any word on when Hero Academy is going to hit Android?

Is Worms 2: Armageddon on Android? It's either supposed to or already received an update that implements asynchronous multi ala Words With Friends.
