I think a large part of the problem is people's tendency to label groups with respect to their activities and interests. A better way might be to group them by their outlook and opinions.
Then you could have the Complainers, the Optimists, the Over-analysers etc.
That's what I do when I see situations like this. It's not Bronies who are over-reacting, it's the brony Complainers. They're a part of every group and society, football fans, sub-urban mums etc.
Anyway, that's how I sleep at night knowing that are people who are demonstrably wrong on the internet.
