Next week are the Jungle and Fresh Water episodes.
I showed this in the Resident Evil 4 thread, but in the Jungle episode, they show one of the mind altering parasites that exist in real life according to a document you find in the game:
Ah yes, the ape war. That was good too. But I like the parasite the best. It suprised the hell out of me because I remembered the document in RE4 that gives 3 examples of mind-altering parasites, and then seeing it on Planet Earth.
So living in Minnesota, I have always been told that Lake Superior was the world's largest body of fresh water. Then they talk about Lake Baikal which I've never even heard of. Turns out Superior has the largest surface area and Baikal has the largest volume of water.

"Ha ha, we kicked your ass! Now watch us eat you!"
"Hey man, share them there ribs"
The grossest shot was the monkey eating the scalp of the other monkey. Las Plagas kicked ass, the ant one was cool, but the one in the moth/butterfly was the best.
And someone needs to get on the "Rape time" photoshops for that tree frog group.

I was dissapointed they didn't expand upon the largest lake in the world. I can't remember the name, but the entire expanse of it was frozen half the year (it was located somewhere in Siberia) and they had a few stunning shots of fish swimming in and out of these bizzare, almost alien-looking ice blooms. It would've been great if they had spent a little more time talking about the variety of species that lived there and showed us some more of the geography.
The series is amazing. At times it can even make a person emotional, knowing how amazing the planet is.
I've seen all of them so far. I think one of my favorites was 'mountains' watching the snow leopard hunt was amazing, as were the cliff dwelling baboons. Coming from Montana I am highly partial to footage of Grizzly bears and mountain goats and mountains in general.

Run, Bambi, run!
Lion vs. Elephant was pretty epic.
Also, there are some freaky critters under the sea.
I'm saving the second Diary for tomorrow, though. Really makes you appreciate just how rare the footage actually is.

Is that because you love elephants, or because your cat couldn't take one down?
I was all, "Go kitties!" when I saw that. bad-ass MF'er climbed onto the elelphant and was clawing at it as it ran around.
It reminded me of Pikmin. The elephant didn't have a chance.
I can't wait for the showing of the real Las Plagas tonight.
The Frog-Rape or the Las Plagas infected ant?
The monkeys.
