Sometimes my wireless router craps out. So I just bypass it. Normally, this works fine.
But I just did it and, as of now, there are 18 ... 19 ... 20 'new devices' connected to my router. The one that's turned off. And my internet connection times out for a 2 or 3 seconds every minute or so. What in gods name is happening. I know nothing's connected, because it's just a modem, plugged directly into my computer.
Some kind of virus? And why would it affect my router software like this?

Reset all hardware to factory settings.
Set up the basics again for your network.
