    Like, if in this movie it's all shown as being hilarious and gleeful but actually the viewers are getting more and more disturbed and how fucked up these people are being, the laughter becomes uneasy and then we get the horrible crushing impact of the protagonists actions before they are stopped then that could be a pretty cool movie.

    I don't think the two are incompatible, really.

    Falling Down starts off with a man losing his shit with the soul-crushing mundanity of everyday life

    and we think "fuck yeah, get mad!"

    and then it becomes about how actually no this guy has snapped and getting mad results in someone doing horrible, crazy things

    it's not cool anymore. It's scary and horrifying. We feel sympathy for him, but also horror at what he has become.

    And that's what would be cool in this movie.

    But the murders are clearly portrayed as comedic.

    If that's what it is, then yeah, I'll agree with you. I am unfamiliar with Bobcat's work other than a vague memory of one or two jokes from his standup from the 80s, so you would know better than I would.
