Electric Brushes of Teeth

So I've currently got the Oral-B Smartseries 5000 electric toothbrush, and man it's awesome. Been serving me great for almost two years now.

But over the weekend I started having trouble with it. There's a built-in pressure sensor that indicates on that little LCD display whether or not you're applying too much pressure while brushing so you can avoid any damage to your gums. Problem is, the sensor is going off all the time, even when I just turn the toothbrush on and hold it in front of you.

I called the 800 number this morning to see if somebody there could help, but the menu optioned just offered help with using the toothbrush and where they could direct me to get it fixed...So, by looking at Braun's website there's a service center I can ship it to that handles warranty repairs. I shot the service center off an e-mail to ask a few questions before I blindly mail it, and as soon as I hear back from them I'll be shipping it off.

HOWEVER, if for some reason they can't fix it or want to charge me for service (Which they shouldn't, as I've got two months left of the included two-year warranty.) I'll probably just end up having to buy a whole new toothbrush.

While I'm not against the idea of buying a new toothbrush of the same kind, I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions.

I just use the one my dentist gives me until I go back to the dentist 6 months later and get a new one. It's like a 6 dollar electric that runs on a AA battery and you replace just the head every 6 months.

Having a warranty on a toothbrush is out of my league.

I use a normal toothbrush. It doesn't have a warranty, but it does come in packs of three for something like $7.50. So I'm spending about $10/year on toothbrushes.

This one is great and was recommended by my dentist. That LCD thing yours has is really just a gimmick.

Got in contact with someone over at Oral-B. She gave me an address to send it to for repairs since it's still under warranty.

May as well try that before I buy something else.

I did see this one while looking yesterday. Looks to be the best/most reviewed one on Amazon, so it's likely what I will go with if/when I have to replace what I have.
