    Good idea!

No. Just no. Stop it. You are making all the other studios look bad. Stop being awesome.

The best thing about breaking some dudes knee is that it stuns them so you can soccer kick them right in the face.

I just started this up last night and the fighting is mostly really easy, but still extremely satisfying. It becomes less "can I beat these guys" because the answer is basically always yes, and more "how can I make beating these guys more awesome"

Did they patch the shaky cam while driving or am I just imagining things?

If so, bravo. That was my one big complaint about the game

Then you learn the skill so you can just take their knife and stab them in the face with it.

I've seen all of them so far, but really heavies and knife dudes are just about counterattacking, and grapplers go down really fast to striking attacks. Though to be fair the grapplers are the ones that have damaged me the most out of anyone. (I assume by heavy you mean the bruisers or whatever the game called them that can't have attacks interrupted)

Yeah those guys. It's not particularly challenging but it gets diverse enough to be fun throughout the game.

  • Darth_MogsDarth_Mogs Registered User regular
The fight clubs offer a pretty good challenge in the latter rounds, if only because of the sheer amount of dudes that are in them.

But yes, it is definitely more about being awesome and that is plenty fine with me.

Yes, we fixed that with the v1.2 Title Update for consoles that we released last October/November time. Please find the release notes below.

Sleeping Dogs – Console v 1.2 Release Notes
    • General code stability fixes like crashes and resource issues
    • UI improvements
      • The ability to launch the DLC store from anywhere the infoticker is visible (including in-game in the wardrobe, vendors, etc)
      • The option to disable aim-assist
      • The option to disable in-world GPS arrows when navigating to a destination
    • Localization/text fixes
    • Other community requests
      • Slightly extended daytime
      • Decreased camera shake when driving at high speeds

Once installed, downloading the *free* Ghost Pig DLC adds the remaining:
    • World art issues (especially where the player can fall out of world)
    • Script fixes
    • Combat and driving-related fixes
    • The unlocking of the gold .40cal pistol after completing the main game
    • The unlocking of the Supercharged Cop Car and SWAT outfit for owners of the Police Protection Pack

I'm reinstalling Sleepy Dogs right now (though I lost my 100% save to the ravages of not having Cloud Sync GUYS) but was the awesome kidnapper suit ever added to the wardrobe? The black shirt suit you get from doing the kidnapper undercover missions?

As far as I could see, there was no way to create it from any custom clothing and it wouldn't get saved as an outfit either.

    Oh brilliant

Just started playing this. I got flashbacks to The Raid when I grappled a guy, and threw him over a railing, cracking his back on it.

I'm really enjoying the combat, I'm finding it similar to Batman, not quite as smooth in places but a lot more varied and fun.

I would just like to add that I bought this game yesterday on a Steam sale and despite only meeting the minimum requirements it looks and runs fantastic on my computer.

It is also a really good game!

Quick question, is there an easier way to switch targets in the midst of combat? I have been playing on kbam and it's sometimes a little tricky to switch to the next threat after I have stunned or knocked a dude over.

Would this be more easily accomplished playing on a controller?

I'm very glad I got this game on the steam sale, I'm surprised how smooth it plays! So far I noticed that the combat can be quite tricky if you don't find a good rhythm in the beginning of the fight, but once you get in a few upgrades, it seems to be getting easier (In a "Oh, I see what I did wrong there when I died" sense).

Btw, I beat this game last weekend. I could not put it down. I believe I beat it near 100% completion (I can't get past the Enduro race) in less than three days of hardcore playing.

I liked the Nightmare in North Point DLC, but the Zodiac Tournament was awesome. I loved it.

I am also proud that I completed it when the game warned me not to due to lack of skills.

That said, you should try a controller. Best for combat and driving, and there's not enough shooting to make using kbam worth it.

  • jdarksunjdarksun Struggler CORegistered User regular
Nah. The game controls pretty great with kbm, and folk were reporting problems switching back and forth. A controller isn't worth dealing with that hassle.

  • StormwatcherStormwatcher Blegh BlughRegistered User regular
Well, if all it takes is plugging a controller, than it's worth it.
But if he doesn't have one, then it's not worth it.

I personally love playing with a gamepad.

Tried to take a picture of the sunset. Was stopped by a dork who insisted on blocking my view.

I didn't mean to throw him over the railing to a 50 foot drop...

But that has become my new favorite way to dispatch enemies.

  • El MuchoEl Mucho Registered User regular
I love throwing guys over the railings. It is very satisfying.

Is there a point in the game where you keep a gun or are the only ones you have access to from disarming enemies?

Not until you complete the story, I am afraid. Various DLCs add guns you can take from your apartment though.

Also: So, bought the Monkey King pack... and it has not unlocked on my file. Anyone else have this issue?

I bought this and all of the DLC on Steam without knowing that 3 of them basically amounted to cheat codes. Is there any way to turn DLC off?

I had the same problem. Bought all the DLC and realized after starting that I was level 8 already. Here's the page I used to fix that.

    forums.sleepingdogs.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2517

YMMV, but renaming the specific files mentioned there removed the "Top Dog" DLC's, and let me experience levelling up naturally.

Is anybody else having trouble with the drug busts? Any time firearms get involved, I get really boned, really fast. As I take out the initial crop of thugs, new ones spawn right behind me and shoot me until I am dead. What am I doing wrong?

It doesn't sound like you're driving a heavy vehicle onto the scene, mowing down a guy with a gun and grabbing that gun and using it?

I stumbled upon my first drug bust under an overpass. Had to swim to a sewage outflow or something like that. Then I got shot to death. So...are there any particularly aquatic heavy vehicles?

  • jdarksunjdarksun Struggler CORegistered User regular
Boats are usually fine. Jump out before you get to the bust, take cover and take a few shots. Or rush in, tackle a dude for his gun, then take cover.

    Beware reinforcements.

Yea, on the underpass busts with armed dudes you need to push in and clear them, then defend from that point as the guys spawn behind you.

So I've been able to get rid of all the DLC except the Just Cause 2 outfit. Anyone know what the file name is on that one so I can kill it?

Also, which DLCs can I safely leave in the game? Does anyone know the file name of Zodiac Tournament and Nightmare at North Point?

That was actually one of my few complaints about the game, how in those waterway areas reinforcements would just pretty much spawn on top of you if you were still at that corner (which I usually was).

I may be wrong, but that one may not be DLC so much as an unlock for having a Just Cause 2 save on the hard drive. It just gives you the outfit and since it's in a part of the wardrobe away from exp boosting clothing, you won't be seeing it much.

Now the game won't even start. Gives me a black screen and a "Not Responding" on task manager. Awesome.

EDIT: I can now get it to start, but I have to edit the config file to set it to windowed first. It also crashes all the goddamn time. This sucks.
