So reviews have been saying this is legitimately good stuff - much like our heroine, dis game got it goin' ON, apparently. I think I'll be picking it up soonish, maybe today if I decide to get a haircut before going to work later this afternoon.
Yeesh, the Gamestop I went to only had one copy they received, and I snagged it right then and there. Anybody interested in this had better get it quickly - I doubt this'll be widely available.
A few missions in and the game is great stuff so far. Missions are very bite-sized for pick-up-and-play sessions, and the writing and voice-acting is terrific thus far - Atlus' localization staff loves to revel in how absurd things are (did you know it's illegal to be a zombie?) I'm hoping the challenge gets increased soon, though; I've been steamrolling everything thus far.
This game is shit hot, has an amazing soundtrack, is funny as hell. My second favorite packaged 3DS game this year behind KI:U and I've only played it for an hour.
Michelle Ruff kills it as Zozo; most of her in-game grunts and sound effects are all to the effect of ". . . ha, yah, whatever." So far one of the most adorable not-zombies ever.
I've got no time at all to actually play this, between XCOM and Borderlands 2 and like four other things, but I guess I'll order it anyways... don't wanna get burned by a low Atlus print run.
I kinda forgot that I had preordered this, but it has arrived! Much like @Dehumanized (and most other PAers I would imagine) I have WAY too many games to play right now, but at least I wont have to hunt this one down later.
So far my only beef is with the fact that the Circle Pad doesn't really detect your inputs that well, and though I really don't like the placement of the Control Pad on the 3DS it allows for the most precision control, but cramps my thumbs quickly. Other than that it's been fun, and I like the distinct playstyles between the characters - Allegro on the ground has a pretty short range for most of his regular attacks, but chaining his aerials can put down enemies quick.
Allegros jump kick and downward sound wave are civilization. When bursted his regular b combo can get crazy damage and his attack up buff is basically 50% of your total stat for a good amount of time. He's quite possibly the best starting character.
This game is insanely good. I intended to just try it out and get back to beating pokemon, instead I just plowed through and beat it twice, only stopping from when I got it to make dinner and drop some stuff off at my folk's place before going back.
I daresay it is better than Guardian Heroes. My only beef with it is that unlike GH it doesn't have branching paths and you can only palette swap characters in free play.
Here's the lowdown on the main story characters for everybody new, and looking for some style pointers:
-Solange: As straightforward of a fighter as possible, she's this game's analogue of Guardian Heroes' Han. Lots of sword attacks and launchers, not much in the way of "magic", so keep her attack strength and defense high and she's a great tank.
-Ali: The "speedy trickster", her main offense is her quick attacks; her strong attacks involve tossing explosives and her specials involve dashing and darting around the screen. Kind of like GH's Ginjiro without all the lightning attacks.
-Zozo: A lot of her moves involve magic attacks with status effects, so keep her Piety (MP) high to keep them coming. Basic quick attacks involve quick strikes and projectiles, heavy stuff involves more wind-up time, but she great at creaming everything on a plane.
-Allegro: A tricky character to pin down, he's good at crowd control with his standing quick and down quick/strong attacks, but he also has a great aerial game with easily chainable attacks and the awesome downward quick attack which thwomps everybody below you. His better moves also consume MP so boost it up.
MP characters are at a massive disadvantage because of how powerful Burst damage is. So while everyone actually wants Piety in the end after maxing out their attack stat of choice the magic types will burn through it roughly twice as fast. But man when enemies have low mind scores they can die extremely quickly to those jets of fire.

Gah, the Jupponji fight almost gave me fits. The bastard's incredibly slippery; he teleports all over the place at a whim, throws projectiles at you constantly, always tries to keep a body in front of him, and when you can attack him he usually just ducks out of the way. I had to use Solange with high defense and attack, with the Champion Braclet (or whatever gives you Boss Slayer) to deal with him thanks to her long reach and clear out moves - say what you will about her simple playstyle, she's really useful against bosses.

Outer box was nicely smashed, as is to be expected with these sorts of things.

Well its not a cool beat 'em up I think. Only did one level and was turned off instantly. Whelp.
It's the Dark Souls of beat em ups.

Solange is terrible. Play as someone else. Anyone else.

She can't fight either? Oh, what the fuck Japan.
I troll. I will get this game. I just got a new job with a big boy salary. I'm just waiting for my first paycheck.

Sure. She's just boring because her big swings are also slow as hell, and not in a "slow but powerful" way. The other three are much more fun to play.
