UPDATE: You don't have to be a customer apparently!

Where they give a bunch of money to local charities that are nominated by their customers. We totally have one of those! If you're a chase customer you can log into https://www.chasegiving.com/ and nominate Child's Play. The more votes it gets now, the higher on the ballot it'll be when voting opens in July which is obviously crucial in our endeavour to get that money to sick kids rather than other, evil charities such as huskie painting or training guide-hitlers for the blind.

Thanks go to forumer @JackKieser for letting me know about this

Well I definitely don't approve of guide-hitlers, not after that exposé Dateline did on them, so I will definitely go and promote Child's Play instead

Hey, guys. So, as I am required to do, full disclosure: in addition to informing Lewie P about this, I also work at Chase. When I found out about the program we were doing, I was determined to see Child's Play at the top of the list, getting the largest sum of the monies. This must happen. So, a couple of things:

You're supposed to only be able to vote in the preliminary nomination round if you have a Chase.com login. Now, I'm sure the IT department isn't perfect, so there may be workarounds / exploits which allow non-customers to vote. I can't tell you that I condone using those exploits... but it's not like I can stop anyone so... ^_-

If you've logged into Chase.com lately and haven't cleared your cookies and such, it's possible that the site auto-logs you in, so keep that in mind. Also, there are reports of old user data still working, so if you used to have an account, you can always try that out.

Finally... please spread the word as much as you can. I really, REALLY, REALLY want to see Child's Play take one of the top spots for this; I don't think the actual monetary breakdown percentages for placements have been revealed yet, but over $5 million is on the line right now, so that's serious money that would go a long way. PM your forum friends. Cross-post on other gaming forums / sites. Post on Facebook and Twitter. Blog, harass your friends, whatever you have to do to get the word out.

Thank you for voting, if you already have, and thank you in advance for voting, because you had better in the future... :P

Apparently after the initial chase customer voting phase you can vote if you're part of this facebook group:
    www.facebook.com/chasecommunitygiving

or, installed the app i guess?
Facebook: During the Voting Period Facebook Users on the Facebook Chase Community Giving application will automatically receive two (2) votes ("Standard Facebook Vote(s)") to cast during the Voting Period on the Chase Community Giving application found at www.facebook.com/chasecommunitygiving. A Facebook user can only cast one (1) Standard Facebook Vote per charity. A Facebook user can earn one (1) bonus vote by allowing "Access" and sharing any content from the Chase Community Giving application to his/her Facebook newsfeed or timeline. If one of the Facebook users' Facebook Friends links back to the Chase Community Giving Application and casts a vote, the original Facebook user will earn one (1) bonus vote. The bonus vote earned by the original Facebook user can only be cast once he/she has cast his/her two (2) Standard Facebook Votes. The bonus vote may be cast for any Eligible Nominated Charity, including an Eligible Nominated Charity for which the Facebook user has already cast a Standard Facebook Vote. Eligible Voters must return to his/her Facebook page to find out whether he/she has earned a bonus vote as it will be displayed both in the header as well as in the "apps and games" link. There is a limit of one (1) bonus vote earned per Eligible Voter.

that's an incredibly poorly thought out post

it's a legit question, what's the quality of the voting pool

    i don't understand how that's not a legit question

for reference I consider CP to be a p cool charity but I mean, there are more important charities out there doing more important work that those dollars could be better spent on

  • FyndirFyndir Registered User regular
SPOILER: What you appear to be saying is that no-one should ever donate to Child's Play in any form, because that money could be "better spent on" the work that other charities do.

And that is a pretty goosey thing to be saying, IMO.

  • RentRent I'm always right Fuckin' deal with itRegistered User regular
considering I've donated in excess of 100 dollars to them over the past two years, no that is not what i am saying

on a personal level i really dont give a shit what you donate to. shit changes when we go to a corporate sponsorship level, which is the point i am making

and i clarified my point. it's p crystal clear. somehow getting "don't ever donate to CP in any form" out of "what's the quality of the voting pool" is an insane way to interpret my point

If it helps at all, Mike and Jerry announced that Child's Play is soon going to be routing aid to women's shelters as well. Personally, since that's been one of my choice charities for years, this is an easy decision.

  • PaladinPaladin Registered User regular
One of the reasons Child's Play is successful is because it's simple. It has a modest goal that has a proportional benefit to the amount of money thrown at it. You can't say that about a lot of other charities.

the list of charities is literally whatever charities you can think of

i'm not sure why you would say that someone choosing Child's Play over whatever other charity you deem more important is "not cool" but you are free to choose basically whatever other charity comes to mind

It's a write-in nomination. The popular ones will be on the list of potential votes in July
