Name that game! Genesis? Edition

Hey guys I'm hoping someone can help me out. I've been trying to figure out the name of a Sega Genesis game I played as a kid. I'm pretty sure it is Genesis, it could be 32x or Sega CD, but I'm leaning towards Genesis. I don't remember all too many details, but what I do remember is that it is a 1v1 fighting game. I'm pretty sure it had kind of an anime style to it. I remember the controls being pretty simple, like press A and you do a certain move, press A+Up and that is a different move. Also I seem to recall that when you preformed moves there was almost a cut scene that happened as your character was preforming the move. I think maybe one of the characters you could pick was a Magician or something, if that helps at all.
Anyway that is about all I can remember about it, pretty vague, but I figured I would give it a shot since I have spent the last hour reading through names of Genesis games without anything popping out at me.
