So, is Syndicate worth the money at $15 bucks? I really enjoyed the original (I know this one is nothing like that) and I wanted to like the re-make, but reviews scared me off.

I snagged the Syndicate reboot the last time Amazon had it for $15 or so, and I'd say I got my money's worth.

A few caveats and descriptions. The co-op is really fun, but is 99% dead. There may be a brief spark of interest during the sale, but don't expect it to last.

The single-player is decent. Syndicate is the younger, dumber, louder brother of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Instead of fancy things like "dialogue fights" and "branching plots" and "multiple approaches", you get to blow a lot of shit up in between the cutscenes that advance the linear and not really memorable plot. But the combat, at least for me, was more satisfying in Syndicate. They do a lot of interesting or at least novel things with the "hacking enemy chips" thing, and Starbreeze (still) know how to make a visceral first-person shooter game.

So yeah, worth $15 if you aren't hung up on the franchise reboot thing and want a fun, dumb, short, pretty, and violent rollercoaster ride through Cyberpunk Junction.

Never got to play NOLF but FEAR is one of my favorite shooters of evereverever and ever. I don't doubt that GCI is fun, I love Monolith and how they do shooters, but it really sounds like it was mishandled in a lot of ways. Maybe all that's better now, I don't know.
It was HORRIBLY mishandled. It didn't even get proper matchmaking for like a month.

I logged into the forum and saw 86 unread forum posts. I thought to myself "hmm, that's strange, I haven't checked all day and Steam should be way higher than that." Then as I clicked in, it dawned on me, SHINY NEW STEAM THREAD!

I'm torn between buying Gods and Kings from GMG or waiting for an even better sale on it (which I know could be awhile.)

The spooky thing is that, if i remember properly, the author was born in the late 80s - she couldn't possibly ever have dialed into a BBS of the type she's showing, and she still did a surprisingly good job of generating BBS nostalgia.

My brother and I played the game this seems to be based off a ton back in the day (herzog zwei). I was lucky enough to get a key, and if nobody else is interested, I'd take one off your hands to give to him. Of course people here have priority etc

You don't have to download them through origin, but you do have to link them to an origin account.

Since they came out before Origin, you shouldnt have to. I dont need to launch Origin to launch SWTOR (came out before-ish), but I do need Origin to be open when I play BF3 (came out after). You should be fine. But you will need Origin to download them.

You don't need origin to download or install DA or DA2 to your computer.

You will need to have an origin account (but not the program) for the games themselves.

If you so choose, you can link the games to the origin program so that you have an easy way to back up and restore the games.

Damn. Want Space Marine, but worried about the sale. Damn being a teacher, all not having a job in the summer. Had a second interview for a bookstore today though, so hopefully I'll get hired/paid before the steam sale and I can be a SPECE MARINE!

I also beat LIMBO today. Not bad. Definitely some of the best atmosphere I've ever seen, though I thought there was a story of some sort? I didn't get any story other than "OH GOD WHY AM I IN THIS FOREST WHY IS EVERYTHING TRYING TO KILL ME AHHHH"

    Good few hours though!

edit: Also, @Lord_Snot , check your PMs! Sent that victoria Steam code over, since giving away the key for steam to someone else is probably frowned upon if you're using the other key?

edit 2: When are we thinking Steam sale? Mid july? 4th of july?
