Windows 7 some of my windows are snapping to predetermined spots

Ok, so I have obviously turned on some feature where when I move some windows, not all of them which is really baffling, they will snap to predetermined spots on that screen. The problem is I can't freely move these windows anymore, I can only snap them to one of the other spots, and its really annoying me because it resizes my windows and puts them places I dont want them. Does anyone know what this feature is and how I can turn it off?

What resolution are you running at? Maybe the windows you are opening are too big for your desktops resolution so its snapping them to the side. Try resizing them to a really small size then see if you can move them. If that works close the window in the spot you want it and open it and resize the window to what you want then immediately close it again and it should save the size and location for next time. I know windows 7 does some weird things with desktop management sometimes. *Edit* there is also this: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-7/disable-the-mouse-drag-window-arranging-feature-in-windows-7/

The windows arent too big, its actually enlarging the windows to fit wherever it is snapping them to.

The blue and red lines are what pops up when I move some windows over to this monitor. If I were to release my mouse and leave my window here, it would expand and fill the red outlined area. Then if I tried to move the window, it would only let me put it in that same box, or one of the other two to the left there, again, resizing it to fit.

I'd reset the folder options and see if that helps. Go into Control Panel, double click Folder Options, choose the VIEW tab and hit Reset Folders.

That should reset everything to the default.

    If you're talking about "Snap".

Control Panel. Ease of access. Make the mouse easier to use. Check the box for Prevent windows from being arranged automatically when dragged

edit - oh whoops mbannick beat me to it.

So you are using a dual monitor setup? *edit* that is so odd. Everything I come across is the same answer for the window snap problem (check the prevent option in mouse settings). Maybe you need to restart your computer for it to take effect? Do you leave your computer running all the time? If you do try a restart after changing that option.
