I'm sorry. I've lost interest in this after the only class I unlocked was demolisher. I just can't muster the enthusiasm for grinding out more credits so I can unlock something everyone else already has. I might try to join this weekend enough to get my crusader iv, but this game is fading fast right now.

I don't know..the problem is we don't have any numbers on total games played, players, extractions etc, right?
We know that we failed the last operation's extraction goal, but we don't know by how much. It still sounds like a lot to me.
and the extra long extraction is meaningless because if you're doing it RIGHT you're not standing there waiting for pickup until the last 20 seconds or so

Yeah. Seriously.
Either way, I honestly don't care if you guys think its worth the effort or not. Since I'm going to just do what I always do and play the game for fun anyway.
Yeah everyone can just run Bronze all weekend and get a lot of extractions. I can't imagine they'd set impossible goals two weekends in a row.
I'm normally full-extracting on Silver, so. But yeah, this doesn't sound like a biggie. Take some time to level up some neglected classes I guess.
Yeah I usually get full extraction on Silver too, but if you were just trying to help out with the Allied goal I think running Bronze would be quicker. I hate doing Bronze though because it's just so damn boring. I can never manage to find anything to kill before they're all dead.
Yes, this goal should be possible. I've got the Demolisher unlocked but I might want to respec him, so that will give me a good excuse to promote the class and play it back up to level 20 (once I've written down my Salarian Engi's profile - whatever I did made that character the master of GWG).
Tried out my Kroguard, had a lot of fun. I need to get better at aiming my heavy melee though, since half the time I wiff I do love the fact that on Bronze/Silver, the escort/pizza delivery objectives are cake since he can pretty much withstand most of the beatings doled out. Which is good since on Bronze, too often no one else tries to do the objectives.
I unlocked the Salarian Engineer, so maybe I will take a break from Vanguarding to work on him. Any build suggestions?
Operation OVERWATCH drops troops on Earth to tackle the most secure Reaper strongholds. Reaper anti-air defense will make for high-risk shuttle extractions.
Squad Goal: Extraction on any difficulty with at least one squad member using an Earth Pack character
Allied Goal: Extract 800,000 individual players on any difficulty, with each live member counting toward the goal.
Special Circumstance: Extraction time lengthened due to failure of Operation BROADSIDE.
Squad Goal Success: All squad members awarded a Commendation Pack.
Allied Goal Success: All players awarded a Victory Pack that includes a new Earth character.
Requirement: Mass Effect: Earth must be installed to earn these rewards.
Seems pretty easy.
Is this a cut/paste from the BW site? If so, why can't they specify whether it's full or partial extractions? That was just as vague last time, and it turned out they were looking for full extractions to count toward the allied goal.
They should clarify this time what is an extraction for the squad goal. At least it's clear what counts toward the allied goal this time.
Also unclear: is this supposed to be reapers only? The description says they're dropping troops on Earth to tackle Reapers. So, does that mean the maps all have to be Earth maps, too?
I'd just check the BW site myself, but blocked here.

It doesn't mention Reapers or Earth Map anywhere so I don't see why it would involve them.
Q1. Does this have to be full Extraction?
NO.
Q2. Does this have to be on an earth map?
NO.
Q1. For this I'm assuming your post in the MP section meant at least 1 earth char must be in the squad for all people extracted to count?
YES. One Earth character must be in the squad. More is fine, but at least one.
Q2. Again any map or Earth maps only?
ANY map
Also if you already have all the Earth characters maxed then you get a rare card instead.

Don't try too hard on the melee. I used to miss a lot when I didn't just lash out and let the auto-pilot kick in. At least I'm under the impression it auto-targets.

All of his powers are great. I usually max out his powers (spec to your liking, different people use Energy Drain differently), then take his class and fitness to level 4 each.

I personally go to level 4 with the Decoy and Fitness and max the others. I don't think you really need that many points in Decoy. Then again, I think of the Salarian Engineer as more of a support role so maybe you don't need that many points in training either. I don't think you could really mess up the build anyway.
Though if you are going to use him for a lot of GWG, I'd recommend taking the Energy Drain upgrade that restores shields from synthetics.
I didn't find Decoy all that useful beyond level 3..yeah, the explosion is nice but it can take plenty of damage even without upgrading and if it's destroyed, you can just re-cast it.
I can't remember, did they ever fix decoy not taking damage from half the things in the game?

Yeah, you just want to get that targeting box outline around the enemy and it'll ensure a melee hit (barring anything getting in the way or other situational shenanigans)
Realizing this (which may seem obvious, but wasn't when I started playing a Krogan) will reduce your frustration with melee characters immensely
Does anyone still have the link to the weapon data for the Earth weapons? Been toying around with different mods for the Typhoon and having a hard time deciding between extended barrel or piercing. I realize the Typhoon has innate penetration but I'm thinking the armor reduction would still be useful when taking on bosses.
Speaking of melee, sometimes you'll slide forward to connect. It's a quick motion.
And have you noticed that batarians really do pistol-whip differently? A straight stab to the nose. I don't think my other unlocked races do that.
You know, related to the risk vs. reward question of "why are shotguns so OP", they should make Heavy Melee, like, ignore shield gate or something. And hit harder at higher difficulties.

Actually, kinetic barriers in fiction, including parts of Mass Effect, are ineffectual against relatively slow punches. It's a necessity, so you could sit down without knocking the chair away.

I have yet to, just because I love swangin my harpooner like a club too much
and yeah, that "sliding into position" is super noticeable with the Batarian heavy melee. It also stops them from moving away from you, thankfully.

The Typhoon ignores 50% of all armor damage reduction. Once it's wound up I think it does like 95 per round at 650RPM, and that's before damage bonuses. So like 70 per shot to armor on Gold - over 700DPS.
It's probably a bit higher than that - but still, it hits like the Harrier with a big magazine and basically makes armor worthless. Horrifying gun.
Stability mod and extended barrel seem to work for a lot of people. I'd stick AP or Warp Ammo on there, and maybe replace the stability mod with an extended magazine?

This is actually the case, or at least part of it. Melee attacks seem to ignore the shield gate altogether.

It seems spotty at times. When I'm rolling my asari meleeguard in Silver, about once a match I'll run into a mob that takes the hit from the melee but takes very little (only a couple bars) of health damage after shield depletion, when ordinarily mobs are instantly killed.

The best thing with the Batarian is when you wind up for a swing, and some jerk/hero uses Throw on the target at the same time, and you skate across the map for the punch.

It may be that your Martial Artist bonus went down.
I actually use to roll a melee-centric Human Vanguard when I was just starting out. That was a whole lot of fun on Bronze but I never had the guts to even try on Silver.

Extended barrel + stability mod is my choice. Can always equip AP ammol
But you can also equip the Stability armor consumable, of which I have plenty. Out of all my consumables I'm probably most reluctant to use AP ammo just because it takes my Geth Infiltrator to new levels of ridiculousness. I would rather save it for those matches where you simply have to kill everything immediately.
@Wyborn Ok thanks. The 50% armor reduction is what I wasn't sure of. If that's the case then I'm assuming equipping the level 5 piercing mod will only raise it to 65%. Probably better off going with the extended barrel (+25%?) which would also help versus shields and health then.
I've also never used a Typhoon without the extended clip, just seems like too good a bonus to pass up. But I should probably try a few matches with extended barrel + stability just to see.

I'm going 6/6/3/6/5 or 6/6/5/6/3. At level 5 of energy drain, take the 100% shields restored and you can drop the extra health/shield in fitness. I'm not too big a fan of incinerate because enemies can dodge it, but it's good on armour. It's basically offensive vs. defensive. Take fitness if you prefer defence, incinerate if you want the extra armour burn.
I call my Carnifex the postman. Always delivers and is basically an instant guardian removal weapon.
But after extensive play I do prefer the SMG on my kroguard. I'm struggling to choose between Tempest V and Hurricane I. Tempest has less recoil and far greater accuracy for fighting from afar but hurricane is better in CQC.
Finally registered a few codes from these collectible ship things, got a few new guns. I take it the Krysae is pretty good, but I don't know much about the Geth Pulse Rifle or the Striker Assault Rifle. I don't generally use assault rifle classes anyway but it would be nice to know if they are complete crap or not.
