Something just occurred to me that I had almost forgotten about... I was playing a pubbie game about a week ago, and things seemed to be going OK. Then, all of a sudden, I died. I was running along a corridor where I knew no enemies were, and suddenly I was dead. So I looked down in the corner, and spotted the message that I had suicided. What??? How the hell does one suicide in ME3 MP? How do I avoid doing this again? I never realized this was even a thing in ME3.
For context, this was on Ghost, running through the little building directly to the right of the ammo box everyone tends to run to between waves, and I was playing as a human sentinel.

You walked over a spot where a Ravager had recently been killed. Their blood is acidic a la Alien.
I'll have to try the Saber II out on my Destroyer sometime.
It might be awesome, but I dont know how i can put down my Typhoon which allows me to kill in one clip any boss mob in the game from full health on Gold.
Tried out my Kroguard, had a lot of fun. I need to get better at aiming my heavy melee though, since half the time I wiff I do love the fact that on Bronze/Silver, the escort/pizza delivery objectives are cake since he can pretty much withstand most of the beatings doled out. Which is good since on Bronze, too often no one else tries to do the objectives.
I unlocked the Salarian Engineer, so maybe I will take a break from Vanguarding to work on him. Any build suggestions?
I'm going 6/6/3/6/5 or 6/6/5/6/3. At level 5 of energy drain, take the 100% shields restored and you can drop the extra health/shield in fitness. I'm not too big a fan of incinerate because enemies can dodge it, but it's good on armour. It's basically offensive vs. defensive. Take fitness if you prefer defence, incinerate if you want the extra armour burn.
I'd be curious to hear how that turns out as I've been considering a 6/6/3/6/5 build for awhile now to roll with on platinum. Like you said, all the mooks just dodge it anyway, and all the things that don't dodge (Atlas, Brute etc) have so much armor that it barely even scratches the surface. Funny to think that there was a time where people said guns were useless and powers were the only way to kill things.
Operation OVERWATCH drops troops on Earth to tackle the most secure Reaper strongholds. Reaper anti-air defense will make for high-risk shuttle extractions.
Squad Goal: Extraction on any difficulty with at least one squad member using an Earth Pack character
Allied Goal: Extract 800,000 individual players on any difficulty, with each live member counting toward the goal.
Squad Goal Success: All squad members awarded a Commendation Pack.
Allied Goal Success: All players awarded a Victory Pack that includes a new Earth character.
Special Circumstance: Extraction time lengthened due to failure of Operation BROADSIDE.
Requirement: Mass Effect: Earth must be installed to earn these rewards.
More extractions.
Yay....:rotate:
And a longer extraction period.
Prepare ye, prepare ye, for another failed weekend event!
@curly haired boy Haven't had a chance to try out your recommendation of pairing the Saber with the Destroyer yet, but just going off the weapons data it looks like a base level Saber does 427.9 points of damage, while a Valiant at the same level does 317.2. And the Destroyer has 8 shots per clip versus 3.
200,000 full extractions doesn't seem too terrible, though I imagine the lengthened extraction period will lead to fewer full extractions.
That said, even going right for the circle, I don't think it really gets ugly until Gold, and that depends on the enemy and who you're playing with.
You know what would be interesting? If higher tier extractions counted for more. Like if a full extraction on Gold counted as 8 people, and Platinum counted as 12 or more. Seems like it could be a way that they'd still get to use massive numbers with (again, presumably) a shrinking playerbase. I'm sure the regular releases bring people back every few weeks, and the events as well, but I have a hunch the numbers aren't exactly growing either.
And I'd still like to see a live counter going for progression during events. Let us see if we're short, or over, or how high we need to turn up the heat, or if we just got completely fucked. Hell, even if it was just a percentage, though I would prefer a specific count, assuming that was possible and wouldn't crush their back end. (I assume it wouldn't, but I'm not entirely convinced that their back end isn't held together with chewing gum and string)
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
Victory pack contains a guaranteed earth character? Good idea!
Sadly I already have all of them, but I know a lot of people who don't or worse, only have one or even none of the new characters, so I'll do my best to work towards this goal!
Bioware said a live ticker would be too difficult to implement, since they can only review data on a per day basis. Still, a half-way update would be nice wouldn't it? To see how we're doing and if we need to work harder or even not so hard if we wanna make it.
Also, Forars idea about higher difficulties counting as more extractions is an excellent one, though I'm not sure that'd be possible to implement...
Honestly, the weekend op where more brutes spawned was, in my opinion, the most interesting one so far. Not only was it a reasonable goal, but it also changed the game, even if only a little bit. I'd like them to expand on that! And not just in the way of penalties - say, we complete a certain operation, and the following week Rocket Troopers/Marauders/Centurions don't have shields, or are replaced by Assault Troopers/Cannibals! That'd be kinda neat.
This goal is more than twice as easy as the previous one. 400,000 full extractions vs reapers on the one hand, 800,000 individual extractions (200k full but with flex so all partials count) vs anyone on the other. A breeze.
Though I didn't even bother to contact support about not delivering my commendation pack for doing the last event though, so I'm finding I don't care about maxing N7s so much anymore. The victory pack is more interesting for once.
So, I unlocked the shadow when I was playing last night, and now I know why kasumi was so happy all the time. This thing is hilarious.
Do people take electric slash? I took the 'fire a power and stay cloaked' evolution of cloak and the shield drain evolution of shadow strike (not the damage reduction one though), and I maxed out fitness to get the melee bonuses, but I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do with the rest of my points.
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat

I am always happy with a new level for the Valiant, or maybe a Hurricane I, but in this case I'd definitely be happier with an Earth character as I only have a Shadow.
I'm not quite sure what to do with the Shadow myself. I put 0 points into N7 Shadow and maxed everything else out. Took the duration and one power while cloaked bonuses. Having a problem with its DPS though. Being able to assassinate phantoms is great, but the whole shadow-strike-then-run-away-and-wait-until-cloak-recharges takes so much time. My guess is that electric slash through walls should make up a bulk of your damage output, but that's just a guess.
One slightly related note: I usually expect a slight drop in team performance right after a DLC is released as people are getting the hang of new characters. In my experience the Shadows have been the worst for this update- seeing a lot of behavior similar to Vanguards when the game was first released. Guys who have heedlessly charged to the other side of the map and now need reviving, again. I'm sure that'll work itself out over time though. I do think it would be fun to see a team of 4 shadows simultaneously take down a Cerberus mob.
I can't give advise for the shadow either. I tried a max shadow strike build, meaning absolute maximum damage for it, equipment included, and with the armor piercing evolution i could take out 4-5 bars of armor on a prime. I guess it's not that bad, but eh.
What I'll try out next is go for tech bursts - set them up while cloaked via shadow strike, and set them off with electric slash (which you can evolve to give 100% more tech burst damage).
It seems pretty survivable as long as you manage shadow strike properly; if I cloak then shadow strike I had plenty of time to run away.
Without electric slash it just wasn't doing much damage, though. Maybe I should drop the class skill and max out slash instead.
I also don't really know which weapons to give it. SMGs are light enough but don't do much damage; I thought about the disciple but I don't really like that gun in general. Maybe just the avenger with the melee attachment?

I went with the paladin
talon would work too, that's generally my light-to-medium-weight gun of choice for melee characters
you definitely want something that can fit a melee attachment
The only place I've ever had it happen consistently in in the back doorway of the console room on Firebase White. Out of all my playing, I've not been there much, but if I die on that doorway, I glitch and respawn on the platform. I've never seen someone intentionally exploit it, the fact that it respawns you far from the normal GWG camping spot makes it not that much of a benefit.
That's where it happens to me the most often, yeah. It also tends to happen when I die on the lower staircase, inside the building.

Electric Slash is phenomenal. Shadow Strike's amazing for focus firing on heavy targets, taking out stragglers, or for tactical movement, but I use Electric Slash for the bulk of my damage output, to be honest. I upgrade it for Damage, Recharge, and Damage again. It's great.

My Shadow Flowchart is as follows.
A) Mook by themselves - Shadow Strike
Mooks grouped together - Electric Slash
C) "Boss"-level enemies - Leave to allies and search for A and B.

Actually had this happen quite a few times.
I pretty much take down all the mooks one-by-one until only the bosses are left then just get rid of them the old fashioned way.
It isn't too hard against Cerberus or the Geth.
But against the Reapers...man is having to solo a wave as a Shadow annoying.
Have bought 7 PSP's since the Earth DLC came out. No Earth characters yet. Piranha and Acolyte both at Level 1.
If a Piranha I gives 160% cooldown how much will a Piranha X give?
if it makes you feel better, I've bought over 20 PSPs and half a dozen regular spectre packs and I've only gotten the Earth soldier class (destoyer? demolisher? D-something), the acolyte I, typhoon, I, and piranha I. I haven't even gotten a level IV equipment thingy. It's been all phoenix vanguard or quarian engy cards and disciple or graal upgrades. I have both of those at level VIII and the GPS only at IV. I fucking hate RNG and it hates me even more.
EDIT: I did finally get the geth plasma SMG the other day and then leveled it up to III in the next two packs, but I don't like the weapon much.
I also don't have a Harrier. Or the Indra. Or the freaking Black Widow, which was the only gun I really wanted when the game was first released. I do have a Typhoon I, and a Javelin IV and Scorpion V and various levels of the other ultra rares, so it's not all bad, but yeah, random gear packs are random.

My manifest.
That lacks a Typhoon.
Some of us don't have that option.

If a Piranha I gives 160% cooldown how much will a Piranha X give?
On humans, with weight capacity and weapon weight reductions, 191% I think?
With the level 4 and 6 weight reduction you can get 200% cooldown.
With level 4 only its around 180-ish.

And on a Destroyer/Demolisher, with "... What's a cooldown?", you can just spec for the +dmg over reductions!
Yeah, it depends on your race. Humans can get 191%, which is pretty decent.
A lot of the races can get to 200% pretty easily, though.
Lets be realistic now.
If you have any Earth characters, the pack will contain another card for the same character.
You will not get a new character.
You know this to be true.
This hurts you.
