As you level it up, its tool around ability becomes quite useful. It can do significant damage to a single enemy, or moderate damage to all enemies. It can also cast a moderate heal on your entire party or cure their status ailments. Of course, as it levels up, it also keeps the mundane abilities, like low damage hits and cures, or worst of all, nothing. It tends to do something most of the time, at least, once you hit the higher levels. Best part? It doesn't take any magic points.
So I put it on my mage, Jim, and have him use that ability while waiting for more MP.
