My friends and I wanted to make costumes of the main characters from Borderlands 2. Right now it's just Salvador, Axton, and Zer0.
Where do I even begin with the questions? Could you include tips for prop gun creation? How would I get Salvador's beard and hair on a beardless person with a shaved head? How would I go about making Zer0's helmet? Any tips on how to make the cloth bit? Bandoliers should be made out of cloth or leather, and if cloth what kind? How do you make a belt buckle, spurs, and custom shoes? Is there a knowledgeable database where information like this can be accessed from?
Thanks in advance for the help!

What's your budget? Does anyone in your group sew or work with plastics or leather? Paper mache and some nice paints can be good for beginners.
And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn
I have some sewing, leather, and plastics experience. Plastics are my weakest having only worked with sentra, and 40k minis. I also have experience with bondo, fiberglass, and the like.
This would be my first project making guns, and my most extensive so far. I would be teaching my friends what I know, as well as learning a bit myself(seems obvious now that I typed it, but here it shall remain).
I know where to get some fabrics(not many), have access to some great army surplus and leather shops, if that helps at all.
there are hobby shops that sell fabrics and other useful materials for this. there are also different guides online on how to make helmets like zero's, just google "how to make daft punk helmets"
Got any toy stores or dollar stores nearby? Check those for cheap toy guns and water pistols that can at least be used as a starting point. And then slap on paint&stickers and glue whatever else you can think of to make them more borderlandish.
Gun wise, it might be easiest to start with a nerf gun. Sand it down, lay down some black primer then go over it with a few metallic drybrush coats to give yourself a worn, dirty look for the metal. Then paint the non-metal parts in whatever brightly colored patterns you like.
Hit up a hardware store for extra costume bits. Short lengths of pipe or conduit can be easily cut to make scopes or barrel extensions. Nylon webbing or tool belts can help with the costuming for ammo belts or pouches. For the armor bits hit up your local good will and see if they have any sport equipment you can get for cheap. Alternatively, hit up a used sporting goods store like Play it Again. Not going to be free, but it will be a lot cheaper then buying it new and likely be more durable/comfortable then building it your self.
For the beard, depends on how much time and effort you want to put into it. The easiest way would probably be to cut the beard out of felt and attach it with spirit gum (available online or at any costume store). If you want to go further and make a fake beard, google can help you out.
Can someone help me make a zero costume please need help please make this for me i would be really proud if u did and i will pay for it and I really want to be him for halloween.
Thanks for the help so far. I've actually gotten a couple of my other friends who are more adept when it comes to some parts than I am, so it's coming along rather well. Putting a materials list together. I'll either have to grow out my beard or buy a fake one for Salvador. Anyone know a good place to pick up a good fake beard?
Now on the note of Zer0, I've been searching for a Pepakura file of his helmet and have yet to find one. I've searched 405th and such, but to no avail. And on such a note, snoopDo, even if someone could make a Zer0 costume by Halloween they'd need your measurements, for one, and it's a very labor intensive task making a high quality costume like this, so it is pretty expensive(hundreds, but, more likely, a grand or two). Your best bet is to make one yourself. If this goes well, though, I'll try to post up instructions somewhere on how to make one.
The kind of glue used to attach fake eye lashes might work for a beard too, maybe? Check with beauty salons. Still got to find the material for the actual beard though. Could just google map for costume shops in your area. They should have beards as well as some method for attaching them.
