ugh... just did ubers at MP8 and was only 1 of 3, and the 1 I got is the one I already had 4 of... what a way to send me off for a damned week, that and a f'n madstone
My game stutters when I'm running around outside, and it doesn't even seem to matter how low I turn my graphics settings (plus I do fine with games like Skyrim and BL2, so I feel like I should be able to render some brown fields OK). Does anybody have a magic solution for this, by any chance?
Yeah, putting the game on an SSD fixed a lot of my stuttering and odd frame drops. I have a beast system otherwise, and there was no reason for the game to have some of the performance issues it did.
SSD fixed almost all of them.
If you are reading this add me.

I played with a friend for a bit yesterday. He hadn't played since like May and was progressing through Inferno. I joined him about midway through Act 2 (MP0), and the first elite pack we killed dropped a legendary for me (I have maybe 60% MF with 0 NV). Merry Xmas!
Of course it was a terrible Won Khim Lau. It actually had some nice random rolls, getting life steal and a socket, but it had terrible DPS (like 690). It's a brimstone now. Looks like I got coal from Santa.

umm.....I think that brimstone was a mistake. Lifesteal and a socket on a WKL is awesome. Even if low DPS you get the lightning bonuses for SW/Cyclone and can make up some DPS with it having socket+MH 0.o

I could have sworn I looked up LS/socket WKL and the shit DPS ones weren't up for much, but now you got me thinking about it and I wonder if I only checked one or the other. I'll check the AH again tonight if I get a chance and see if I fucked myself out of some money.

Need a worthwhile Hellfire Ring and I'm basically set for MP0 exp farming -- just a little bit too squishy to competently farm in MP1. This was significantly more expensive to put together than RandomEngy's. Prices have gone crazy since that ban wave. :rotate:
It shouldn't be that long. I am sorry I cannot be more concrete than this, but it should be ready before the new year... hopefully that is :-)
Last I heard 1.0.7 was next so I have no idea what's going on with this. Maybe they're posting a blog while PvP is still a ways off, or maybe they decided to go straight to 1.1, who knows. My guess is that PvP will be on the PTR for quite a while though.
-They're adding dueling in 1.0.7, slated for early next year
-They're scrapping everything else that they had planned and starting over again :rotate: :rotate: :rotate: :rotate: :rotate: :rotate: :rotate:

Well uh I completely agree that Team Deathmatch never seemed very interesting and wasn't a great fit for Diablo. I think the lukewarm response to it from day one spoke for itself. It's disappointing to hear that they're nowhere close to having an alternative though, not even knowing what they're going to do instead.
Seems like the writing on the wall is a mode based more on competitive monster fighting DotA-style. They should have done that from the get-go, dueling was always lame.

it falls short of our expectations for a high-quality Blizzard experience
I chuckled. Is this the first time that happened then?
Srsly though...it sounds like they really just don't get it. Games....they're like playgrounds. CoD is kind of like a swing set...not much else you can do on it but swing, or jump off the swing...or turn your insides out. Far Cry or Stalker is like a sandbox (been used before I'm realizing). Games like Trine or platformers are more or less like the weird things attached to swings with cubby's and bridges and stuff. A bit of room to manuvre but you're gonna go to the same place.
Blizzard...well it seems like I can't finish this metaphor...but maybe it's like Blizzard wants to turn Diablo into a swing set game...but force us all into those baby swings instead of give us the jungle gym that was d2...maybe?

Fixed that for you.
I'll agree with Hex that the best part of this blog post is the amount of butthurt it generated. Though, I think those posters going with the, "How about you release the content and let us decide whether we like it or not!!!" have a point. If Blizzard did invest a wealth of time and effort into Team Deathmatch, to the point that demos were available at cons, then it seems silly for Blizzard to decide it's not fun, and scrap it, rather than release it with a gigantic qualifier of "We're not going to change this. Here's some PVP. Have fun while we make a better system."

PVE is swings.
PVP is a slide.
Blizzard needs to say, "Here's Diablo 3. It has swings. If you want a slide, then fuck off."
Practically speaking they've already done this; the game only has swings. The problem is they keep herping and derping about a future in which Diablo has the bestest slides, ever. This while LoL exists...a game with many, many slides.
Yeah, PvP absolutely wasn't going to do much to keep people playing or bring players back. I can see them heading in a more Dota-ish direction with it, though who knows what they'd do for rewards.
Kinda incredible that over half a year out they still haven't got in a feature that was cut for launch though.
What a useless blog post. So they've been working really hard on PVP, but they basically have absolutely nothing to show for it, is what they're saying.
Honestly, the Diablo team has no right to piggyback on the excuses the WoW team often used to deliver late but polished content.
This is Blizzard taking its hardcore Diablo fans for a ride. They sold us an unfinished product, straight up.

Yeah, 7 months of development after release and they decide to scrap it. That on top of the development time before release they spent on PVP. At some point they need to cut their losses and stop wasting time on PVP.
We've brought a lot of people in to try out Team Deathmatch and, while some found it entertaining, most of our testers didn't feel like it was something they'd want to do beyond a few hours.
Isn't this what Diablo 3 was to many players (90% maybe?)? Sure, replace "a few hours" with something like 20-80 hours, but the point is only a minority of more devoted players like most of us posting in this thread still play D3 (and in my case, just barely for now). Is it really a big deal if a supplemental feature follows a similar arc?
Edit: I mean Diablo 2 was no different. By far most the people who bought it didn't play for more than 50 hours or whatever. Then you had the 10% die-hards who dumped hundreds of hours into it.
Without more varied objectives, or very lucrative rewards, few saw our current iteration as something they'd want spend a lot of time in.
As I understand it, that sentence could be applied to both PVP and PVE, for most people. Somewhat amusing that they throw out their PVP system because people wouldn't want to do it for a long time...but maintain their PVE system that is, in their own words, an unsustainable end-game.
Am I wrong, or wasn't the end-game of Diablo 2 finding crazy items to PVP with so you could kill each other in half a second? What kind of golden standard are they holding themselves to here?

The fucked up thing is that before launch Jay Wilson said that most players would play through normal and then stop. So, presumably, they expected this. Yet now they're worried about it, or scrap content because of it.
Blizzard just needs to pick one fucking design and stick to it.

For some people, yeah. For others Diablo 2 was just killing mephisto / baal over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over....

I think the reign of Blizzard as innovators, etc. is coming to an end. Diablo sucks, SC2 has pretty much failed to catch on in e-sports compared to LoL and other more popular games, and WoW is more or less stagnating.
And God only knows when/if their 'Titan' game will ever release, or if anyone will give a damn.
Actually now that I think about it, how is dueling even going to work? There are no games you join you just join random quests. Some poor guy is going to be doing his thing and be like "hay guys so glad ur here I'm having problems with omg wtf r u doing?! i've been trying to do this 4 hours omg fu blizz"
So basically it's going to just be confined to private games... and we couldn't have just had a "dueling" toggle upon launch because...?
