hi evryone...im from dubai...i've finished my 12th so i have some time till i join college. Now that i am sitting free at home..i decided to go for walks every evening...(i live next to the beach). I started in august...and now since last week, I noticed two men (pathans) staring at me on the beach. They try to stay around the place where i sit after the walk....They figured out my schedule..at what time i come...they also come at the same time....one day they followed me throughout the whole walk. After my walk i sit by the sea..one day the came and sat on the benches ...and kept staring at me. I feel really uncomfortable with their presence...I come out to the beach to relax...but now these guys are giving me serious trouble. I told my bf about them...he said that he would bash them up..but then i asked him to wait..because they aren't harming me and i dont want an unnessacery issue. Also one day...unfortunately ..as i was leaving my home to go..i met them i little away from my building...and they noticed me...i got confused about what to do...so i let them take the lead...i stayed behind..and then as both of us wer about to cross the road to go to the beach..i changed my way around a building just on the road...those two crossed the road..but i went around the building..but wen i came again to cross the road..they wer waiting for me ...they wer looking back to see wer i had gone..this really creeped me out...Now I tried to figure out a way myself. Before, i used to go for a walk at 7.30pm..i changed my time to 6.30pm...i usually stay there for 1 hour exact. It saved me from seeing them for a couple of days..but then 2 days later ..wen i was returning home at 7.30pm...i saw them from a distance and they were going to the beach. I instantly changed my way..then again for 2 days i didnt see them. But then today..wen i was returning back from my walk...i saw they wer alredy sitting right at the beginning of the beach...i guessed this was planned by them to leave sometime earlier. But as soon as i ssaw them from a distance..i changed my way..but obviously they noticed me...i had to walk right past them..and believe me it was very uncomfortable...i avoid even looking at their faces...i try to look elsewhere if they are around me. And you wont believe i even had a nightmare about them today..this is getting out of control as it occupies most of my mind...any advice/help in this regard will be appreciated..

Stop going to the beach? Take someone with you on your walks? Call the police? Those are your options. Pick one.
Esh is correct. You have stalkers and you need to be proactive. Either stop your routine or you'll need police intervention. Unfortunately, their persistence suggests it won't go away on it's own.
I am a little surprised that you can walk alone in a Muslim country, you should consider carrying with you a weapon if it is legal in Dubai. You should fill a police report, and see if they can be investigated. Sometimes a good shake up from the police can be very effective to make them think twice before trying to stalk you again.

Why would you be surprised that women are allowed to walk alone?
As for the second point, no. No no no.

Because in some countries they aren't?
caroline, you need to be taking someone with you, or you need to stop going. Of course you shouldn't have to stop going, but that is not the world you live in right now, and your life and safety should to take priority. I would tell you to call the police, but I'm honestly not sure how helpful the police in Dubai are about this sort of thing.
And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn
obviously i won't stop going...as for taking someone with me for a walk..the thing is i do not have any friend whom i could take along..and there is no such thing as women are not allowed to walk alone here..carrying weapons is not allowed..actually even im not sure how the police would respond to such a thing here...so should i ask my bf to handle them for once and all?

No, you should take your boyfriend with you, or you should stop going.

I agree with the others here, that you should take your boyfriend with you on a couple of walks so that they see him, but he should not make a huge scene about it or beat anyone up.
There's a good chance seeing you with him will be enough to make them go away.
Just out of curiosity, because the situation sounds weird and creepy and I want to understand what is going on.
You mentioned the men are Pathans. I had to look the term up, does that mean they are immigrants from Afghanistan? How would you know that?
And how close do they come to you on your walks? Do they just stand there and stare, or do they talk with each other? Do they try to make eye contact with you or smile or anything? How old are they?
And is the beach mostly empty when you go there or are there usually lots of people about you could turn to if those guys actually did more than just staring?
even men from afghanistan are pathans but the pathans that i am referring to here are from pakistan in an area called balochistan. And since my family knows alot of pakistanis...we are very well informed with their culture.
They do talk to each other as well as stare as me...i never noticed if they try to make eye contact or smile because the moment they are close to me..i look away...i never saw their faces clearly..but i know they are the same people. The closest they've come is around 7-8 feet. And one of them looks around in his 20's and the other one looks in his 30's....yes there are a few other people who come to the beach but not so many
Unless your boyfriend is a Kung Fu master, any confrontation would be unfair because we are talking about 2 vs 1, so if he accompanies you, he must be careful.

Their ethnic origin is interesting but immaterial to the advice you are being given, and on top of that you've never talked to these people and you don't really know who they are or what their story is. Don't go looking for a confrontation because it is a stupid thing to do. Take someone with you on your walks, or stop going there. Or both. There are other places to walk, and if these guys are really paying attention to you and the worst really happens, they could follow you back to your house. Two people are probably less likely to attack two people than they are to attack someone alone.
So instead of being an idiot and starting something, either bring someone with you or start going somewhere else. You can call the police if you think they will be helpful, but in a situation where you think you are being stalked this is the advice you are going to get here, because most any other course of action could end up with bodily harm being done to you or someone else and no one here is allowed to advocate anything that would come to such an end.

Dubai is cosmopolitan, and in the extremely wealthy tourist buildings and shopping western standards are acceptable. However, wandering outside those areas you find yourself in some much more traditionally muslim areas. Culturally, they're actually fairly frustrated by the western stuff they see.

It's Dubai. It's pretty cosmopolitan.

This is what I found out about pathans:
