I kind of want to a NaNo Rebel project (some kind of RPG book), but I don't know how to properly define it in terms of words per day, and I just finished (and failed) a massive 25-adventures-in-a-month blogging challenge. So I don't know if I have the energy. But it's an option.
Yeah, it's definitely rewarding but also an incredible chore at times.
A couple years back, me and three other people co-wrote a NaNoWriMo book, switching back and forth from chapter to chapter with no collaboration involved. It almost seemed like more of a pain in the ass because when it was your turn, you had to catch up on several thousand words of plot, not to mention characters and the like. Holy balls, I was glad when that was finished.

That sounds like a ton of work. But it also sounds awesome

I tried this a few years ago, but I was way too unfocused. I don't even think I wrote more than 100 words.
I think I'll give it another whirl this year. I've been trying to write more and I have a lot of ideas kicking around in my head, I just gotta try to organize my thoughts a bit more.

Heh, yeah it was meant to be sort of chaotic. It was a thing for a magazine that we worked for. It was a few of us editors and a copy writer, if I remember correctly.
We started out each writing the first 500 words of our own novel, all of which were printed in the October issue. The article directed readers to our website where we had a poll so they could vote on which author's idea would be turned into a novel (I should note that mine was winning until 15 minutes before poll close, and the person who won somehow spammed the poll through a number of different IP addresses with minutes left to go. He was kind of a scumbag, and I never brought it up because who the fuck would do something like that for such a petty project?).
Over the course of the next month we did our chaos writing, and had a side-blog on the site to basically lament, with wry smiles, the ridiculousness of what we were doing.
You can just do what I'm doing and write right now to give yourself a head start, regardless.
I'm not going to submit a formal entry or anything this year.
Tis the season.
May as well! I've been slowly expanding the idea I want to write about over the year anyway, so I should probably just do it instead of being a lazy butt.
I need top men to break into my house and plant a bomb on the nape of my neck. The bomb will detonate if I fail to write 2000 words between sunrise and sunset every day.
That way I might have a chance.

Oh wait whoops this is my eighth year, seventh as ML
I can write but I can't count
And I don't need to make up excuses, I've already won this four times
I have no idea how to do this
I can come up with like, a big idea (maybe) but when it comes from getting a story from point A to B to C I'm just like... nothing
There's absolutely nothing going on in my head
I think my problem is that I'm too retrospective when I write. I go to bed thinking "man I could have done that last chapter way better" and then it ends up being a mess.

Read up on some famous authors' writing processes. You'd be surprised how much you probably have in common.
I've been trying this since like...2006? I've failed to make it past like, day six every year. I'll try again this year though! Especially now that my hand is better.
Hero should accomplish something with his tearing around, if only to rescue Eloise, and surprise! Eloise is a ring-tailed monkey. The hero counts the rings on Eloise's tail, if nothing better comes to mind.
They're not real. The rings are painted there. Why?
I'm going back to a cyberpunk setting this year -- I can technobabble far better than I can imagine a consistent fantasy universe, or "real life".
I think I've got a main character and the stirrings of a plot. Things I have considered but not yet decided on: ending the world halfway through.

I am definitely up for doing this. I made my first attempt last year and was doing pretty well for the first week. I mean what I was writing was tripe but I was getting words down and it was a lot of fun. Then Skyrim came out and my novel died from neglect.
Think I managed about 10-15k last year so, while I will try for the full 50 this year, if I get above 15 I will consider it a success.

Last year I failed miserably due to baby-having
This year it is ON
By which I mean I will probably fail again but whatever

I'm writing urban fantasy because I am a silly goose
How about you guys

I just sit and stare at the monitor and then delete the file and go do something else
will take up the challenge
Hard boiled PI noir shit, probably, maybe with some sci-fi flavoring because I'm utterly predictable

And by that I mean I'll back out at the last minute again.
I was thinking about a detective story as well, or possibly a Lovecraft pastiche
or both
GG if you actually want to try this shit
I will help you

who knows, maybe I'll try to write a novel
What will happen next, what's going on behind the scenes, how will it all come together
Normal guy takes a teaching job at a high school that is full of terrible fantasy cliche archetypes
basically it's Great Teacher Onizuka if it took place in a terrible Gaia Online high school RP
are there any rules or something. I am no stranger to writing long papers but usually they are boring historical ones
Fuck
Fuck
I would read this book
