Wow, I remember playing Ecco 2 when I was like... 10ish? I know I got to the sky tubes part, but after that, I kinda just floated about and jumped in the air. Is it bad, when you have more fun messing on a level, than actually playing a game?
Echoing the "this is fantastic" sentiment. I played Ecco 2 once, long ago, but I couldn't figure out how to get past the second level. Had not even a clue about the sci-fi story.

Nope. I never got very far into the Dreamcast version for the game reason. :P
I remember getting pissed at Tides of Time and quitting on the "City of Forever" level, with the giant monsters you had to follow around, but killed you one hit if they spotted you.
I know there's a lot of other TSR stuff going on (with the incomplete Sonic breakdown and the Sonic LP), but I'd just like to give some more premotion to Ecco.
...I'd love to hear about other missing levels and such.
Unfortunately my experience with Ecco is somewhat...mediocre...because I was like 10 and didn't know pretty much anything that was going on...plus I wasn't all that good with the puzzle solving (or the crazy jumps, especially when there was no water around).

The facehuggers want to play with you in the AvP LP. Facehuggers also want you to check out the TF2 cards here. View the in-progress RE mansion recreation for L4D here.
Worth noting, a playable demo for the unannounced, unknown, Ecco the Dolphin sequel for the dreamcast was unearthed not too long ago. ECCO II - Sentinels of the Universe. About 5 levels are done.

Wait, as in a sequel to Defender of the Future? So it just got canned? I'd think they'd have at least considered porting it to the PS2 or something.
Yeah, Youtube got them taken down, and they contacted a few of the sonic hacking sites asking for them to be taken down. I doubt they'd find it on a penny-arcade message board, but who knows.
That would be the Sega Dreamcast development kit, indeed. If I remember rightly, it has four controller ports (obviously), dip switches to set regions on the front, an optional internal GD drive, and SCSI ports on the back to attach to GD burners. And I want one.
A bump from the grave-- I found this thread interesting and think you guys might enjoy this: mod-edit: no roms
It's a newly-found prototype version of Ecco II for Genesis/MegaDrive. Approximately 50-60% through development, with few never-before-seen or dramatically different stages, new music, and lots of easter eggs. The ROM was obtained by Drx of [some website] and I and a few other very helpful contributors are currently busy working on documentation (and subsequent release) of 35 other Ecco II, Ecco Jr. and Ecco II (Game Gear) prototypes.
There's a lot of other Ecco 'secrets' on Dark Sea if you feel like poking around.
EDIT: A note for mods; the ROM provided is not a retail product and is an unfinished prototype version of the game. I've spoken with Ecco's producers who voiced no opposition to the hosting of this material.. regardless if it is a problem I will edit my post. Thanks.
Mod Edit: A note for users; don't provide ROMs period. It's in the rules.

Can you find differences in VC or XBL Genesis games?
On a side note, I officially declare that this thread is composed of pure win.

I had Tides of Time, I could never figure out how to 'give' that other dolphin a fish. Can someone please help me out?
I've been entertaining a guest from louisiana, hence why I haven't been able to update. He leaves today, but I have work in an hour or so.
I found some videos of what Sega Channel looked like! These bring back so many memories

I'm curious TSR, did you ever sign up for Sega Channel? and has anyone found stuff in the old Sega Channel cartridges?

It was scrapped, then eventually restarted and ultimately ended up as Jaws unleashed.
But what exists of Ecco 2 is vastly, vastly different from Jaws Unleashed. It's Ecco 2, dammit.
EDIT:
Oh hey whats up Ecco?
Crap...Jailage means I can't edit my post.
The system doesn't work dammit
What can you tell me about that nifty-looking machine right there? I'm guessing it's some sort of developer kit.
That really saddens me somehow, though it explains why that game was supposedly good on some level.

It was good on a so bad, it's good level. You had to use a keycard to open a door.
I never asked for this!
(it's a dev kit)
