[ZombiU] How long will you survive? Probably not long to be honest...

That was probably my zombie that was loaded up with handgun ammo, a carbine, 4 health kits, and a crossbow.
You totally should have killed me, I was loaded.
That bit damn near stopped my heart.
And yes, for anyone wondering, this game is hard as fucking nails. I'm convinced that almost no amount of careful play can truly mitigate all of the ambushes and shitty situations the game throws at you. And I have to admit, I kind of like a game that's this fucking hard and merciless.
Well, according to the Prepper, she's a lizard(wo)man.
As a US resident, me too. There's something unabashedly American about stomping around in another country's royal residence, shooting everything that moves.
The only thing I know about history is what I've learned from video games.
Same same. corin7
This game is amazing. I need more time to play it.
I couldn't suggest dropped over four hundred dollars on any single game, and ZombiU isn't an exception. Especially when it's such a divisive game. You're going to loathe it or you're going to love it. I can't see much of a middle ground existing with the way it unabashedly sticks to it's core concepts and mechanics.
For anyone with a Wii U wondering if you should take the plunge - read a review. Don't take the score(s) in and walk away. If you're still unsold or on the fence and someone you know has it, try it out, or wait on the demo. Personally, it's worth it, and as mentioned it fits so well on Nintendo's machine that you owe it to Ubisoft to atleast give it the shot to win you over. It's tense and it's sights are set on challenging you, the player in more than just gameplay. You're never going to feel fully prepared but you're just going to have to press on and deal with your shortcomings later. Or be dinner.
Totally true.
Well, to be fair, I have to admit that my initial impression from reading the first previews and seeing some E3 videos was that it was more of an actiony L4D/Dead Rising/Dead Island type of game. Of course, it's clear within minutes of starting it up that it's full-on survival horror with a twist of roguelike mixed in. Although, none of the pre-launch previews seemed to give any indication how HARD it is.
Oh no no no no. It's the British self deprecating thing. I can revel at the thought of shooting my own Zombie monarch but the rest of you Johnny Foreigners keep your dirty uncouth mitts off!
Those three games are all pretty drastically different though. Except for ZOMBIES they're almost all a different genre.
It works because it is a more deliberate paced game. Yes, there are moments of "OH FUCK!" craziness, but it's more a test of how well you've prepared yourself to handle those moments than it being the crux of the gameplay.
It's exactly what I was hoping it would be.

Literally any game where one of the effective choices is to run away tends to go over like a turd balloon. Most gamers just want to hammer a buton until something dies and that's certainly what you would expect from a zombie game.
I meant more in terms of what they share: Zombies as fodder. They all have shitloads of zombies and they're all pretty minimally threatening (maybe Dead Island a liiiiittle more than the others), and they're all pretty fast-paced and actiony.
That's the polar opposite to ZombiU where even one zombie is a dire threat if you do something as simple as mis-time a swing. Two zombies is a death sentence unless you're REALLY quick on your feet and have plenty of room to maneuver. And three zombies is just impossible unless you concoct a death trap for them.
THAT'S IT. The game isn't "zombies are fodder" it's YOU'RE fodder.
That's why reviewers are crying foul. Complete 180' expectations coupled with a rush to get the review out leaves them writing during Confusion Time. I bet if they were given a month with it they'd like it more.
Whoa...this is a Zombie rouge like?
Seriouse?
FOR FUCKING REALS?!!
Tell me now, cause I'm gonna buy a Wii U yesterday if that's the case!
1 bite = dead, but you can get scratched/hit about 10 times I believe. Friends that you've added to your WiiU will show up as corpses if they died as well and you can kill them to take their stuff.
I'm really just impressed that Ubi not only made a game like this, but managed to get it out there as the premier 3rd party launch title on a new Nintendo console.
If Zombie U is truly a Zombie rouge like, then this is the game that I wish Dead Rising would of been.
I also appreciate how it's knocked me down a peg when I think about the zombie apocalypse. As any good nerd believes, I always thought I'd do just fine in a zombie apocalypse. Now I know I'd die before I even got out of the 'tutorial'.

It does if you LOVE roguelikes.
When I started reading reviews and the words "roguelike" and "Demon's Souls but zombies" popped up, my desire to get a WiiU and this game went from "I'll wait till more games drop and any hardware issues get ironed out." to "Holy fuck, WHY didn't I reserve a WiiU?!"
One of the previews put it best, I think - somebody asked if it was fun. The guy kind of stammered and said he didn't know if you could call it fun, but it was intense.
A game doesn't have to be fun in the traditional sense to be a worthwhile experience.
Oh, wait. No. Only 6 of them were crows and now you're dead. Oops!
I'm too paranoid to do so.
I cannot imagine an item valuable enough to get me to fire a loud ass gun outside of a life or death situation.
Another, larger gun.
