Fixing USB ports

My desktop has two USB 2.0 ports on the front of the machine. My Wacom tablet is always connected, and usually my iPod is, too.

It's the family computer, so other people use it. My brother caught his foot in the tablet's cord and pulled it out by accident, and now the ports don't work. If I plug something in (like the tablet), it says that there's been a power surge in that USB port, to disconnect the hardware and click "Reset this port".

I've done that like 20 times and it still doesn't work. How would I go about fixing this?
