Avengers Arena lives up to its' "character driven stories" promise by spending an entire issue fleshing out Deathlocket as well as introducing and establishing the new characters from The Braddock Academy. Bloodstone is probably my favorite so far, as he seems like a pretty nice dude.
Indestructible Hulk was good but didn't wow me as much as the first issue. Waid writes a good Tony Stark, especially as a foil for the newly "loose" Banner.
A+X was the best issue yet, the highlight of which was Asmus' fun as hell Hawkeye/Gambit team-up.
Avengers was fantastic, of course. I am happy that next issue is the end of the initial arc, though, as much as I love recruitment issues I really want to see the new team kick some ass.
Cable and X-Force helps cement Hopeless as a great character writer, as everyone in the book has clear, unique voices. I really like his Colossus especially.
FF was rad and goofy as heck, it looks like it'll be the better of the two F4 books.
and not really Now-related but Hawkeye 6 was fucking amazing
I promise you I am not actually reading Thunderbolts
I skimmed it in the store and am basing the rest of my deceleration on previews and the track record of the creators and the fact that no one anywhere that I can see has said anything good about it.
When I tried to alter my pull list from THunderbolts to Dark Avengers so as to avoid getting the book by accident. The guy sorta tried to talk me out of it. Said nobody was getting DA but a lot of people were getting Thunderbolts.
Aren't half the people issue 2 spends time recruiting already Avengers? Why did they have to be re-recruited? Did the team really strip down after AvX or something?

They address that in the issue:
The Avengers as a team post-AvX weren't really official at all. Hence the whole "We have to have the core six" thang. And then the first wave of recruits were all recent-to-retired Avengers because they could be depended upon.

Guess that makes sense, though I had always assumed that once you were an Avenger you were always on reserve status if the team needed you. Hence my confusion.

alright so I tried to give everything that caught my interest at least 2 issues to try them out, but I can't afford to keep buying all of them and now that most titles are past the 2 issue mark save for the ones that haven't launched yet it's time to break it down
Tier 1 (must buy):
Avengers, All-New X-Men, Thor: God of Thunder, Captain America
Tier 2 (good, but might not make the cut):
Indestructible Hulk, Cable & X-Force, Avengers Arena, X-Men Legacy
Tier 3 (Not bad, but I'm just not feeling it):
Fantastic Four, FF, Iron Man (Tier 1 if it gets a new artist), Deadpool, Journey Into Mystery
Tier 4 (didn't even bother):
Thunderbolts
New Avengers and Young Avengers are guaranteed buys once they launch, and I'll be giving Uncanny X-Men, GotG, and Superior Spider-Man a shot.
Oh hey, reading the letters of Avenger's Arena #2, the comic is going to show the (not going well) search and rescue efforts and family/friends of the missing kids after the first couple arcs.
Hawkguy continues to be the comic I read first every time bro.
Which is weird because if you'd asked me a year ago to pick up a Hawkguy solo book where he spends most of his time out of costume I would have said no bro.

I know you can write good stuff!
Dark Avengers, by Parker (more Thunderbolty than the current T-Bolts book), however, remains cool beans
a dozen year slump is a hell of a slump
He does more with him in 3 pages than any other writer has done in the past couple of years.
It is without a doubt the worst Marvel NOW book and one of the worst books currently being published
Someone has to tell us how bad it is

I write about video games and stuff. It is fun. Sometimes.
like that series quickly rocketed up to possible best of Marvel Now for me
just pure Kirby/Pulp madness the entire time

How is it so good all the time
Also I finished that initial Gambit run and it was enough for me, moving on
Yeah like that guy from M.A.S.H

"Ride or Die" confirmed Dominic Toretto, as they took off to find the Dragon Balls in hopes of reviving their friend Sonic

Because whether the other stuff I get was bad/disappointing or fantastic, i'm guaranteed to end on a high note when I get to Hawkguy.

Now if only the tumblerers would actually buy comics and not just look at scans the series might not get cancelled
they mostly care about relationships in comics, especially gay male relationships in comics
the chromedome/rewind fans alone posting the #mtmte tag on tumblr, agh
i mean, those two are canonically together, as much as two giant alien genderless (but effectively male) robots can be, but still.
