Project Silmarillion - RPG Table (Critique and Suggestions)

Greetings!

So I hope this is legal to have in here. If it isn't, let me know and I will happily remove it.

Since I have gotten into wood working I have wanted to build an awesome RPG table. I say RPG and not D&D because in all honesty it can be used for anything from D&D to Warhammer to d20 Modern - even large scale board games like Arkham Asylum. I would appreciate any suggestions or critiques you may have. Please forgive the images - I did this using Illustrator. I'm kind of an AI newb and I am just starting to work with the Perspective mode to make a more 3D view of the table.

To break it down; the table will have a wide DM station and 5 set player stations with drawers that slide out. The drawers are large enough for a standard notebook or laptop with a few inches to spare. The drawer fronts will fold down, providing another 4" of surface area for use. Each player station will feature an under-mounted LED light for good visibility as well as a combination cup holder and dice tray. This has the effect of leaving the table top completely clutter free for large-scale battles. As you can also see in the images below, the middle of the table will feature a 24" x 36" whiteboard surface. We have at our house a 27" x 36" lexan overlay that is painted with 1" squares (this makes it so we can turn any poster-sized image into a battle map) that is ideal for this spot. The white board will be flush with the table. The white board area can, in future models, be replaced with an LCD monitor (like the Microsoft Surface). I am currently debating whether or not to incorporate a power plug into every player station as well as the DM station because there is an increase in the use of electronic devices for character sheets. The DM area may also have a small white board set into the table to keep count of things like initiative and monster/player hit points. I haven't decided yet.

The construction is rather simple and fairly cheap. After looking at some of the 'big name' table manufacturers, I have concluded that while their tables are beautiful, they are incredibly overpriced. And, well, no one will want to play on it and risk damagin it. The RPG table is something that has to be able to stand up to spills, hits, books being dropped on it, nerd rage, etc. while still having a nice solid surface to get good rolls of the dice.

Here are the images below. Feel free to take the plans and use them yourself. I am not looking to make money on this, but I want to share what I think is probably going to be a very good table.

Please feel free to comment, but be constructive. Saying "This looks awful!" without any suggestions for improvement is just a goose move.

Thanks!
