Hmm I normally buy digitally but im not sure if you need to buy the starter pack with the disc thing to play

You can get an inexpensive base secondhand from GameStop or likely even new on eBay.

So Amazon posted an image of all the Marvel figures, it included some heavily expected but unannounced figures. Vision, Antman, and Black Panther.
Speedway came out yesterday too. I held up to my word and didn't picked it up. I want it, but I haven't even finished Rise of the Empire yet.

I cannot recommend the Speedway pack

Especially if you have kids because holy shit

Even on 50cc, the lowest difficulty, this is harder than pretty much any Mario Kart I've played at the higher CCs

Gamestop is doing a big Infinity sale right now

    http://www.gamestop.com/collection/disney-infinity

    3.0 Playsets (all 3) for $29 each

    2.0 Marvel Starters for $29
    2.0 Toybox Starters for $25
Vita Version for $25 (with Black Costume Spider-Man)

They also have the Force Awakens set and Poe/Kylo up for preorder now too.

So if you have a portal already, you could buy the digital game for $20 and the playsets for $30 and save $15 over buying the Starter by itself.

edit: oh and in case anyone hasnt seen them:

So I got one of the Vita Copies of 2.0 for $25. then traded in the Portal and Playset from it and got about $8 for those. $17ish for the Black Costume Spider-Man figure is not bad at all.

Also bought Rise Against the Empire, Sabine, and the Toybox Takeover, along with the digital copy of the game on PS4.

Gonna wait on any Jedi figures until the Light FX ones release.

I could swear black suit Spiderman shows up with a 3.0 badge in the collection screen. I just assumed that meant he was getting a new figure and the vita one was just a timed exclusive like Boba Fett.

Also no light FX Darth Maul?

I think I heard something about the power draw on 2 LEDs being unfeasible. apparently they only barely got the single blade ones to work?

  • ManetherenWolfManetherenWolf Registered User regular
I heard the same. Supposedly they are still working on it for Maul and Ahsoka (2 sabers for her) and might release them later as a 2nd wave or something.

What do the "Power Disc Pack" do? (Are they limited to one game mode/expansion?)

  • ManetherenWolfManetherenWolf Registered User regular
so if you put the Black Costume Spidey in the game, he registers as normal Spidey in the Hall of Super Heroes, except a black bubbling symbiote goo appears around the base of his hologram projector.

  • Baron Of HellBaron Of Hell Registered User regular
What do the "Power Disc Pack" do? (Are they limited to one game mode/expansion?)

They give bonuses or gear. The packs are blind so you never know what you are going to get. One pack might give you a jet pack and another might give you super speed. I believe they work just like figures. You can use any of them in toybox but you can only use 3.0 power pack in 3.0 play sets.

  • UnbreakableVowUnbreakableVow Registered User regular
Also worth noting is that 3.0 has no blind packs of power discs

  • Commodore75Commodore75 gothenburg.seRegistered User regular
So the "Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars Rise Against the Empire Power Disc Pack" gives me two disguises (which can only be used by Leia and Luke respectively, meaning they effectively are two new figures, using my old figures' stats) and two ships?

And they can be used outside of "Rise Against the Empire"?

  • RiokennRiokenn Registered User regular
No so much disguises, more like alternative costumes you can put on Luke and Leia.
And yes they should be usable in toybox mode.

Also if you use Luke and/or Leia in Twilight of the Republic (once you get their respective coins) and, presumably, in The Force Awakens.

I love so much that it only takes 1 coin per character and every Star Wars figure is usable in the playsets.

So in the Rise of the Empire Playset you have to unlock the ability to use characters out side of the main heroes. This is done by finding a floating "coin" with that character's picture on it. They are all pretty easy to find. So in the example mentioned, if you want to use Vader, Fett, Clone Wars, or Rebels characters you need to find their coins.

  • Dr_KeenbeanDr_Keenbean Dumb as a butt Planet Express ShipRegistered User regular
Some of the coins are in amusingly appropriate places too.

For example, Boba Fett's coin in Twilight of the Republic is right above the Sarlacc and Darth Vader's is in a sand people village.

In DI 2.0, you had to find 10 coins scattered all over to unlock a single figure and even then only 2 non-playset figures were unlockable per playset.

today only, best buy has a bunch of 2.0 figures for $6
and, that stacks with their buy 2, get $5 promotion
(you can only do 2 per order to get the discount on all of them, but that's ok since they have free shipping for everything)

so if you have GCU, it comes to $6 per pair. and if not, a little over $7

On Saturday I was out of town (and couldn't post here in time) but Toys R Us had 1.0 figures for $3, 2.0 figures for $5 and then the discs for $1 each. I picked up Woody, Hiro, and Donald along with $10 of discs. I have no idea if the prices are still that way in the system now though.

So I picked up the 3.0 Starter Pack for the 360 for my kids for christmas, plus I grabbed a few figs from GS's b2g3 sale.

Still trying to wrap my head around all the ins and outs of this system.

So with the 3.0, I can only use 3.0 playsets, which are the Star Wars and Inside Out sets.
If I want to use Marvel playsets, I need to get a 2.0 disc. (but my 3.0 base is will work fine?)
All the figures will work in Toy Box, but only certain figures work in playsets they are configured for.
Are powerdiscs playset restricted? (Still not even completely sure what the point is of power discs.)
Figures can be upgraded and save any upgrades on the figure itself?

    Thanks for any pointers.

Let me answer what I can.

3.0 Only works with 3.0 Playsets and games discs. So Inside out, the 3 Star Wars, the Upcoming Marvel, Toybox Takeover, and Toybox speedway.

To use any of the 2.0 you would need the 2.0 disc, the 360 base will still work. I found the 2.0 playsets to be pretty repetitive and the 3.0 much more entertaining. Playing 1.0 and 2.0 Playset pieces on your base in 3.0 will unlock a bunch of Toybox items for you.

All figures 1.0-3.0 will work in the Toy Box. Only characters that "fit" the playset are useable. Some characters may require you to find their coin in the playset before you can use them. Like in the Star Wars sets you need coins to unlock the Rebels, villains, etc.

Powerdiscs are a mixed bag. They will all work in a Toy Box. Inside Playsets they may be restricted. You can't use Marvel Team ups in Star Wars. You can't change the sky or ground in playsets, etc...

The level progress will follow the character.

Good job picking things up on sale. If I could offer one piece of advise never pay full price unless it is something really rare. Sales are very, very common. Even when the hot new figures hit the shelf if you wait a week or two you can probably get them during a sale.

Yep, the general rule of thumb with Disney Infinity is to NEVER pay full price. Sales are a near-consistent entity.

Correct, playsets will only work with the version they were released for.
If I want to use Marvel playsets, I need to get a 2.0 disc. (but my 3.0 base is will work fine?)
Marvel playsets are 2.0 only. Your 360 base should work fine for any version that was released for 360. It won't work on an XBox One.
All the figures will work in Toy Box, but only certain figures work in playsets they are configured for.
1.0 figures didn't cross playsets at all (as far as I can recall).
A few 2.0 figures could cross over to other 2.0 playsets, after you found a certain number of collectibles during game play.
All 3.0 figures can cross over across all the 3.0 playsets, again after finding collectibles.
Are powerdiscs playset restricted? (Still not even completely sure what the point is of power discs.)
Powerdiscs work with playsets from their own version, and any newer versions, but not any previous versions.
Figures can be upgraded and save any upgrades on the figure itself?
    Yep.

This is a good site to look at, even though it can be a little confusing at first.

If I don't plan on getting 1.0 out 2.0 play sets, there is no need to get the game discs?

God help me, I don't know why I want to do this to myself...

So I can get 3.0 on PSN for $15, and I imagine I can find just a portal thing for sale on Amazon or something (I haven't checked yet, but that would ruin my plan if I cant), and a couple Star Wars figures to start me off. I don't need any playsets right away do I? There's like a base game in just the 3.0 download, right?

Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
