That's kind of the point, though. It's a list poll to see what people's reactions were to games they played (hopefully) when the year is over.
If you were going to run this kind of poll later in the year, might as well just run the poll for the best game of 2005 now. However, it could be fairly interesting to do to compare to previous mcc polls.
As I recall, over on GAF they decided to hold a best of 2008 poll earlier this year, to see how changed perspectives affected the voting. MGS4 still won, I believe.
Game of the decade is gonna be fucking impossible to answer. I've played so many terrific games in that time that ranking them in any order and picking a #1 spot is..well, impossible.

Hopefully we'll have more than 20 slots to play with

That's impressive seeing as it didn't come out in '07.

I played frog fractions some, but it seems like saving up to get the warp drive would take hours
*cough*the dragon can hold its breath*cough*
I played all the way through and didn't really get what the bid deal was. I got a couple snickers, but that's about it. My funny bone may be broken. :?
Just played some Frog Fractions.
It's fun and cute and all, but I don't see what's so special about it or how someone could honestly say it's the best game they played last year.
I'm a little embarassed by the amount of time I spent playing the fractions game to get enough fruit.
I noticed that "something was changing" when I kept turning the computer targeting system on and off, and I couldn't find any other way to change the game's long term state, so I just bought dozens of "turn computer targeting on" / "turn computer targeting off" upgrades to see if it eventually stopped letting me buy new ones, thinking that was "the point"
One of two Indie games, the other being Passage, that were near ruined or at least changed into something else the first time I tried to play them because I didn't realize the up/down buttons were even wired up
The Walking Dead - its decent, for a Heavy Rain push button scripted affair. The story is pretty decent and horrible at the same time (?too much drama maybe ...)
There's no real game there though ...its basically interactive fiction.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown - for a turn based reboot its not bad, I just couldn't get into it. It seemed plagued by glitches. An autosave feature would have been great.
Hotline Miami - the controls for this game sucked. Infinitely frustrating. Its a nice idea, just a poor execution. I mean cmon...retro gaming?
Diablo 3 - I played the Beta and was not impressed.
Legend of Grimrock - Its a rip from dungeon crawling like Eye of the Beholder, Shining in the Darkness, jesus even Etrian Odyssey, old Might and Magic, standard fair and not that interesting
ME3 is good, but ME > ME2 > ME3 opinion-wise.
GW2 - great, amazing MMO - dungeons are a bit lacking (its not TSW), but you don't have to really grind dungeons in this which is awesome. Big time sink.
FTL - Great, just really hard. One of the best games in 2012.
if we must focus on something wacky japh said, how about the confusing remark about "retro gaming" attached to the Hotline Miami. What kind of retro game controlled like Hotline Miami?

MCC is a she?
EDIT: Question Answered! Carry on!
I saw this and was like ok fine, Ill look this up.
So I went to the page.
Holy shit. That would have made my top 10.

Must have been '08, then.
My two takeaways from this year:
1) I guess I should really get Farcry 3 already
and
2) I think I'm gonna check out "War of the Human Tanks"
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat

I would like to think it was a fever dream caused by my being sick, but I know that's not the case.
But it's the only explanation I have.
Couldn't get past

N..no?
Re: Frog Fractions: If there's one thing I would tell anyone who plays it, it's definitely "Go down."
I think it is about time for an upgrade.
(But seriously, Flash is terrible sometimes, I know.)
This is a clickable link to my Steam Profile.
There's a reason it was in my top 10 for last year; maybe top 5?

Please give me a list of these fucking amazing DVDs you're watching
You know what's barely a game? Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. You just wave your hand around a bit.
You know what's barely a game? Portal. You just walk around and listen to some woman talk about cake.
You know what's barely a game? Diablo. You just click around on your mouse a bit.
You know what's barely a game? Tetris. It's just some blocks that you move around.
