I should probably stick to Close Quarters, which is hella fun. Very few of the regular CQ maps feel as good on console as the BC2 maps did. They're just too damn big, and DICE seemed to be more interested in showing off how much of the PC maps they could cram into 512 MB than cutting them down to a playable size. Also, Operation Metro is terrible. But I like it.

Seine and Grand Bazaar are also pretty fun small maps, at least in my opinion. Heck, the large Conquest version of Seine is actually not very good.
Yeah, large Seine is only fun if you happen to be a crackshot with a sniper rifle and then it turns into a game of long range, spawn camping, whack-a-mole. Otherwise it's just an infuriating shit slog that's no fun for anyone involved.
Are people going to start playing this again? I missed the bus on Armored Kill and Aftermath.
I've tried starting back up a few times but have had trouble finding servers that weren't run by completely inept assclowns. Seriously, how do you forget to put auto-balance on?
The 100 person limit on the friends list thing also threw a major fucking kink in the works. Every time I log into Battlelog it starts screaming at me about friend requests because I'm completely out of room and can't be bothered to sort out who's still playing what and whether I can delete them or not.

I've been hopping on the past couple nights after repairing my install and playing with Nailbunny a bit on the PURE server. Its still a pretty good little server with more and more people using their teamspeak. I haven't been sticking around to play a great deal usually just a couple rounds. I never used to have this problem with this game but lately I've been getting really tight shoulders from gaming in general, but anything high-stress makes it a lot worse.
Started playing this again last night. Going from Planetside 2 and other games on the computer back to the Xbox was a bit weird but still felt good. I am sure I will be playing some more, so Xbox bros, hit me up, I miss playing with you beautiful people.

I saw an interesting tactic on CQ Seine (console) today. What you do is grab the tank, but instead of rolling around to support your team, you just hang out by the spawn. Occasionally, you timidly inch out to lob a shell or two in the general direction of where bad guys sometimes might be, but never kill anyone. This is a really good tactic for making sure the enemy tank, which is consistently supported by engineers, beats the piss out of your team and pushes them all the way back to the flag nearest your spawn. The best part is that since you stay out of combat, you never lose the tank, so no one else can take it and ruin your strategy!
In short, I hate all of humanity and wish aliens would turn us into pet food.

May I suggest doing what I do? When you start a game, go in thinking you are going to have to do everything and that everyone else is a complete idiot that is both playing on console and this game for the very first time. That way, when you actually see someone doing something even slightly helpful, you are pleasantly surprised and can feel like you have a bit of hope. Makes it far easier to continue shooting the mans.

Yeah, that's the attitude I have to have in every game. I was hoping BF3 players would be better than COD players, what with my good experience in BC2, but it turns out that all that BF3 does is provide players with newer and better ways to be complete idiots. In this last match, the newest and coolest version of idiocy I saw was a sniper who, instead of throwing down a mobile spawn point, instead elected to simply lie down behind a rock near the map boundary and not move for the entire match.
I think what annoys me is when I see the enemy flagrantly doing things that would translate into easy kills if people would stop being cowards. I've already learned to accept that everyone's Select button is broken, no engineers know how SMAWs or Stingers work, and the only squads that move together are on the enemy team.

Yup, unless I am with PA or Friends, I rely on no one to do anything and I try to do everything myself.
Helicopter destroying your team? That's a stinger.
Tanks patrolling cap points? That's a SMAW/RPG-7
Soldiers killing your allies? That's a bulleting (?)
Seriously, there are times when you are going to feel like the only smart one on your team. If you do enough though, you would be surprised how much courage it gives the other players on your team.

When your whole team is pushed back to spawn, and you grab the tank, push like a motherfucker through the whole enemy team obliterating the 10 dudes that are just sitting behind a corner that your team stupidly keeps trying to gain control of instead of going around, then continuing past through the whole enemy territory killing mans, capping a far away point and suddenly your squad spawns on you and helps you cap, and with the enemy routing back to re-capture the point, making it possible for the rest of your team cap the other points and suddenly turning the match over and winning it because you, the single rambo dude, decided to push with the tank.

Where people that won't take off in the helo are team switched, over, and over, and over. Where players freely give each other ammo, health, and repairs, without having to be yelled at, shot at, and their paths blocked. Where only the good version of Wake Island is played, and pinning the enemy in their spawn is not allowed until all points are capped.

So...i'll probably set it up tomorrow and I need rotation ideas. Obviously Aftermath will be a big part of it because Aftermath is pretty excellent. But what else?
I miss having two domes so that we could run one all Close Quarters. Sometimes I just need to run around with a shotgun and wreck people.
We don't actually really have any rules. Just don't be a shitbag. No weapons bans or anything stupid like that. We have had some shenanigans with idiot players but mostly we play it stress free.
Train tea-bagging is not only server-admin sponsored but is encouraged.
When your whole team is pushed back to spawn, and you grab the tank, push like a motherfucker through the whole enemy team obliterating the 10 dudes that are just sitting behind a corner that your team stupidly keeps trying to gain control of instead of going around, then continuing past through the whole enemy territory killing mans, capping a far away point and suddenly your squad spawns on you and helps you cap, and with the enemy routing back to re-capture the point, making it possible for the rest of your team to continue to spawn in the base and try to snipe the enemy team from the back corner while you, the single rambo dude, successfully hold off the enemy team from two of the capture points by yourself in the tank for several minutes before you finally get overrun and lose them again because no one on your team either spawned on them or pushed out of the base.

I am done for a mix of anything and everything, there isn't a map that I am not willing to play as long as I don't have to play the same map over and over and over.
If you would like a bit more specific though, I would vote for all of Back to Karkand and Aftermath, whatever maps you see fit from the originals, and maybe one or two of the Armored Kill maps (though if you choose no Armored Kill, I won't be sad).

Watching those Battlefield Friends cartoons was cathartic. It's good to know I'm not alone.
Edit: Ugh. It's appalling how much time I can waste in this game without having fun. Just played for 90 minutes, failed to find a single server not populated entirely by idiots.

I somehow got dropped into a squad with three Brazilian kids. One was a medic, the other was an engineer, and another was support. I mostly rolled as medic, briefly switching to support to shoot down choppers (it was a smaller map with only 3 points, some kind of harbor). They would say things like "Hey, fearsome, come revive me!" and "Over here, pirate, here's your ammo!" The engineer took out LAVs all on his own, and this one time, the support guy said, "Hey fearsome, distract this tank and try not to die!" So I did, and he ran up, put C4 on the tank, and blew it up. And when I spotted guys, they would provide suppressive fire or flank around to kill them!
I...I...I don't know what to say. Is this real life. Am I dreaming?
