The New Toonami (again)

All right, let's give this another shot. I'm not crazy about the new look for Toonami, as you may have guessed from this rather hastily slapped together Photoshop. It looks like they're aiming for a new, younger demographic, an audience that Miguzi already serves. Then again, I never really got over the departure of Moltar back in 1999. What say you?

    I used to watch Toonami religiously growing up.

    All they play is a shitty slideshow cartoon (naruto) a butchered (but originally great) cartoon (one piece) and once in a great while a movie worth a damn.

    They could change Tom's face into fucking goats at this point and I would not care.

    I would of course care if JLU was still around, but not enough to even think about not watching.

    I can't stand one piece the characters look very unappealing to me. I like naruto, though.

    I read the Naruto manga every time I remember to mind you, I just know damn well that the show is shit on a brick made of shat out bricks.

    dude, one piece is infinitely better than naruto. The japanese version and manga anyway.
    Naruto manga is pretty good, but One Piece is so much better.

    Why? Family Guy wa brought back because of Adult Swim. Futurama posts great numbers. ATHF has it's own movie coming out. Venture Bros is getting great numbers. Robot Chicken does very well.

    I think it really comes down to the idea they can spend money on Anime that is already owned by someone else (others get a share of the profits), or they can pay to have series made that they get full $$ for, and that do quite well.

    Basically, Adult Swim has way better anime because they don't have to worry about kids watching it (because it's on so late; if kids are watching it, it's the parents' fault) and therefore don't have to edit the ungodly shit out of it.
    See: One Piece. God, it would have been so good to have on adult swim. So so good. The VAs wouldn't have sucked, there would be like guns instead of hammer things....

    Toonami took a dive because it was doing to damn well with to old a crowd. This is the reason it's time slot was originally changed to Saturday, it's also why Megas XLR and JLU got killed. They did too well in the ratings with the wrong age group.

    And Proto, there's a difference between the 6-12 demographic and the 12-18 demographic. Miguzi services the former, while Toonami used to appeal to the latter. I don't know what they're doing with the programming block now, but it's a far cry from what it used to be.

    12-18 is not a demographic. 15-18 year olds will not like the same thing as 12-13 year olds as a general rule of thumb.

    The original Tom got blown up in a Toonami week of Epicness, and the new one was a clone. And now, they just done blowed Tom 2.0 up(philosophically, this time) and replaced him with GENERIC KID FRIENDLY GUY 1.5?

    GOD DAMNIT!

    And I never liked Justice League, but Megas was to far ahead of it's time for it's own good.

    In all fairness, Justice League never lived up to the first three seasons of Batman: The Animated Series, or even a few episodes of Superman. It was wrapped up quite nicely, though... I loved that crossover with Batman Beyond. It answered a lot of questions I had about the BB cast that weren't addressed in the series.
