    @Luchaire, there's something to that.

With one kid, it was "How do we manage this, it's so difficult???"
With two kids, it was "This is exponentially tougher. But I think we're starting to manage okay."
With three it was "This is sort of insane, but all right, we know how to deal with this."
With four it was "Been there, done that, and #1 and #2 now help with #4."
With five it will be ???

But like I said, we figured we were done at four. Surprise!

Capcom's usually good about supporting PCs, even with their more console-y releases (SF4, SFxTekken, Rocket Knight). Then again, their track record with licensed properties on the PC isn't good. We shall see.

Hey, so, I installed Fallen Enchantress on my desktop and, not wanting to download another 3.6 gigs of stuff, I just copied the folder over into my laptop's (pre-existing) Steam directory.

How do I get Steam on my laptop to realize it's there, again? I can't just tell it to verify the local files because Steam thinks the game isn't installed yet.

    EDIT:

    Also, for the Friday crowd:

Elvenshae's Man This Week Sucks, 99-Page Steam Thread Giveaway of Cuteness!!!

So, yeah - this week sucks. A really nice guy I worked with died of brain cancer. On Monday, my wife and son were in a car accident on the way to the dr's office for his 18-month check-up (they're both completely fine, which makes the week suck much less, and it's the other driver's very obvious fault, so at least nothing out-of-pocket for it). While I was pulled over on the side of the road with them, the cop who responded to the accident wrote me a ticket (expired plates; my fault, but they somehow got out of sync with my state inspection, so I didn't even realize they expired last month and was congratulating myself for how I was renewing everything this week when I still had two weeks before everything expired). I'm getting contradictory and mutually exclusive instructions from my two bosses about an IT project I'm managing with a June rollout, meaning May feature freeze, meaning seriously not much time left to faff around, meaning the programmers are on edge.

So, fuck it - make me laugh at something cute. Prizes for the top 2 entrants. I'll probably make my wife help me pick the winners.

    Capitalism, ho.

Contest to run through whenever I feel like closing it down. :D

Haven't done it myself, but everything I've seen suggests that you can just install the game from Steam, and it should detect and verify the files you copied.

So, I did my first week of An Item Shops Tale.

That's kinda neat, I'm already feeling the day by day rhythm that Magical Diary had so this doesn't bode well for other, serious games about space and shooting mans.

Also sod the little girls 10% mark up is not acceptable levels of Capitalism.

Yeah, it's a great game to play in short bursts. If you don't have time for a dungeon trip, you can just clock in at the store, faff about around town for a bit, try to get Louie to buy something besides another goddamn muffler, and count your money all inside five-ten minutes.

    And dat catchy shop theme:

Louie is such a bum its hillarious.

Also keep in mind if this is your first time paying it you probably will fail at some point, but! you get to keep items you had for sale so its really easy to bounce back. I think you keep store upgrades also? It's been a while since I played.

One of the fun things that I realized when I started posting in this thread, was finding out that I'm not the only dad on here with four kids. Granted @jclast's are a different age than my four, but it's nice to not be the only one. Four is a good number, and my wife and I decided it was time to stop.

Well, apparently the only time we can beat 0.7% odds, is when it comes to children. There's a Shdwcaster 5.0 scheduled to launch right around PAX Prime. And while little 5.0 is probably going to screw up my PAX Prime plans something fierce, I figured what better way to celebrate my upcoming upgrade to father of 5 than with an appropriately numbered giveaway.

    signature.png

This is actually a giveaway for The Heroes Pack, which includes Dark Messiah, Heroes V, and the expansions Hammers of Fate & Tribes of the East.

Because someday, I will have five little heroes. And we shall be a force to be reckoned with in whatever game we choose to play.

    Congrats!

I know how you feel, two of mine came on those 0.7% odds! And in two weeks-ish I'll join you guys in the 4 kid party. Not sure if I'll keep up with you with 5 yet though. Four may hit my limit.

    Steam thread, I need advising!

I do not own nor have I ever played The Walking Dead. (yes, yes, I know, I should be ashamed.)

A friend has a spare copy in his inventory and has offered it to me for $9. I feel fairly confident that it will go cheaper come summer sale but - patience is not a virtue I am familiar with. Should I bite for $9 or hold out for summer? (keeping in mind that $9 represents almost half of ETS2, which is #1 on my wishlist right now)

Advise me, oh wise peoples! :)

I'm half-way tempted to pitch something like "The Family that Games" as a reality show. Hype the antics to 11 for TV purposes, ensure that one or two of the kids are constantly in costumes/cosplay, do some kooky family LARPing...
