Apparently Tau Pulse Rifles are going down to 24" range, but cheaper than they used to be, but with an upgrade they can take that brings them back up to 30" range.

Also, apparently Kroot lost 1 attack, but have an upgrade available that makes the whole unit Sniper. Which is odd, because Kroot are now better fire support than in melee, and melee is why Tau appropriated them.

The new commander suits look a little bigger than standard so he should be around the right size.

I dug out my old tau. Turns out I have 2 basic suits, 2 converted suits and 1 forgeworld XV89.
My plan at the moment is to get an XV9 for my commander, another XV89 so those 2 can be his bodyguards (so, the whole unit on larger bases).
Get one more basic suit to bump the "normal" unit up to 3, and then convert 2 more so my converted suits are in a unit of 4.
Add in stealthsuits (which I already have), some broadsides and a riptide and that should cover my battlesuit needs.
I've also got 2 devilfish and the sprues to upgrade them to Hammerheads with a bit of hacksaw work, which I think I'll do.
I have....16 firewarriors and 20 kroot.
Not too shabby.
I'm undecided on the aircraft. I don't need them for anti air (broadsides) and I keep flipping on the mini...but I think it might be a case of bad photography throwing me off.

Moved into new house today... It is the size of Texas. I've finally got a 40k room again, and it's far bigger than my last one. There will be a giant BBQ/40k Extravaganza coming up sometime soon. All Florida PA'ers invited

What kind of conversions did you do on the crisis suits? I love checking out Tau conversions.

Nothing like a 500 pt game to remind you that indeed, St. Celestine is a _beast._

(In my defense, I'd built my list expecting to be facing 1k points of foe, and she was the only HQ I brought, so when I had to cut my list in half, she was the only HQ I had). VS 500 pts of CSM (from the Dark Vengance set, and when she got into combat with the Chosen, she challenged the Lord guy, who only had a power sword that couldn't carve through her 2+/4++, and whose own 3+ save was nothing vs her own 'always wounds on a 4+' power weapon). Still, if there'd been any terminators there, or the hellbrute had managed to get in CC for a turn or two, it would've hurt.

She actually spent most of the game dead, having been vaporized by an overwatched plasma pistol shot on turn two... she made up for it later on though!

Celestine is the closest 40K has to a broken character. It's just fortunate she's attached to such a poor army.

I can't remember - can Cannonesses still take jump packs? If so, she would have made a good proxy.

Dudes what of the new Tau should I paint up to eBay? Not sure if I go for one of the small base dudes, or the new crisis suits.

The giant mech and flying coat hanger are out of the question. I wouldn't be able to turn them around in time. Haha

The second one was meant to be a Broadside but I think I'll trim off some of the guns and run him as a regular suit now.
