Tendau and TitusRagoon VI
Precious few starships ever bothered to land on Ragoon VI, and even fewer of those that did could be considered truly space worthy. Unfortunately the shuttle that Tendau had used to reach the backwater planet could no longer be counted among them. Spores that thrived in the humid atmosphere had somehow managed to find their way inside of the engines, thoroughly clogging them along the way. The crew had promised repairs would be completed as soon as possible but Titus knew better. He'd seen ships that had fallen victim to the same spores idling on the planet for weeks as their crews tried to undo the damage.
With their deadline approaching and the number of ships dwindling as the wet season approached they had been working their way through the spaceport searching for anyone willing to carry them to Yavin IV, but so far their search had been in vain. Whether they feared the Jedi, the New Republic, or the Empire no one had been willing to set a course that would carry them anywhere near the Jedi praxeum.
A storm had settled over their spaceport driving everyone off of the muddy half flooded streets and into whatever shelter they could find. The bars and cantinas were doing a good business, and the establishment Titus and Tendau found themselves entering was no exception. People had crowded around the bar shouting orders at a harried looking MixRMasteR robo-bartender that was spinning like a top as it tried to fill orders. A rosy skinned Twi'lek woman was making her way between the tables refilling glasses and chatting with the customers. Most of the tables and booths were occupied by a plethora of species eating, drinking, or gambling. Mournful music echoed throughout the cramped interior as a Zabrak musician nimbly plucked the strings of his quetarra, although no one seemed to be paying him much attention.
JadoYavin IV, the Jedi praxeum
The thick jungle surrounding the Jedi Praxeum echoed with the calls of the countless creatures that dwelled within it. Jado sat cross legged staring out over the canopy sensing the living force in everything around her. A swarm of yartrails were skittering along tree branches in pursuit of a troop of woolamanders that leapt nimbly from one branch to the next staying just out of their reach. A python half as long as an X-Wing slithered along the shadowy jungle floor, its forked tongue flitting in and out of its mouth scenting the air. Three squat runyip feasted on the decomposing leaves gathered at the base of a tree. The loud grunts, squawks, squeaks, and sighs they made as they fed muffled the noise of something creeping through the bushes next to the runyip. A panther leapt out of the growth towards the smallest creature in the group who snorted as it turned to flee and Jado's eyes flew open.
Panting she leaned forward bracing herself on the sun warmed stones in front of her. The midday heat had baked the stones of the temple and left Jado's robes soaked in sweat. The distant song of a whisper bird coming from the Massassi trees soothed her nerves as she tried to regain her focus.
Raised voices echoed up from the courtyard behind her, glad of the distraction Jado rose brushed off her knees and walked to the outcropping overlooking the training ground far below. A group of padawans and younglings had formed a circle around two combatants engaged in a fierce duel using training lightsabers. A zabrak girl nimbly ducked beneath her opponents weapons as he swept it out towards her in a wide arc that'd been aimed at her midsection. Cheers rose from several of the spectating initiates as the girl knocked the human boy's legs out from underneath him with her own weapon.
The landed hard on his back, having the wind knocked out of him and dropping his lightsaber in the process. The tattoos at either corner of the zabrak girl's mouth curled upwards as she smiled scooping up the fallen lightsaber. She raised it over her head with an expression of furious pride, an expression which vanished as it flew out of her grip and into the outstretched hand of the Rodian Jedi overseeing the training exercise. Master Vollos curled his fingers around the lightsaber as he hefted the fallen boy back onto his feet.
"How many times do I have to tell you Bintio? This weapon is your life. Lose it in a real battle and you will get far worse than a few bruises." Master Vollos turned and held the weapon out towards the circling initiates.
"Why aren't you on the training ground practicing with the other padawans Jado?" The voiced coming from behind her caught Jado off guard and she spun around to find a grey haired Jedi smiling bemusedly at her. Although Oren Keth was no longer a young man he still radiated a youthful energy that made him popular with many of members of the Jedi Order. Master Keth glanced down into the courtyard and watched the zabrak girl squaring off against another opponent.

This place was so full of life! She was most comfortable dealing with people in cities like the one where she had been raised, where she could sense a person approaching well before she would see them. Here... it was like picking out a mosquito in the middle of a symphony hall.
"I fear I've done far too much learning in the area of how to fight over the past decade, Master Keth" she said with a small sigh. "Though at least I've been a pretty good student in that subject. Some days I feel like I should be sitting in on a remedial politics class or two with them, honestly."
He reached into the voluminous pockets of his robes and drew out a datapad which he offered to Jado. "We received a transmission from Chief Organna Solo herself, I'm afraid your journey to Coruscant has been canceled."

The good thing about being in the middle of this jungle was that serenity seemed easier to find, as the force flowed around and through her. She wrapped it around herself and used it to soothe away any misgivings or doubts about what might be behind the latest twist life was throwing at her.
"Cancelled, you say? And from on high, no less..." she calmly accepted the datapad and started to carefully scan the information displayed.
The old jedi nodded as the Twi'lek's eyes met his. She smiled in recognition as she made her way over, eyeing his Ithorian companion politely. "Good to see you Titus, been a while." She glanced at Tendau. "Never seen you with a friend before."
Titus grunted, but smiled. "It has been a while Alana." He inclined his head towards his companion. "Tendau and I go way back...seems he's come to catch up on old times. Even convinced me to get off this rock for a while to see some old..." He paused. "...family members." The twi'lek nodded curiously. "Family you say?" Titus frowned impatiently. "That's right...family. What, you're surprised an old gundark like me has family?"
Alana laughed. "What can I get for you two gentlemen?" Titus raised an eyebrow, considering whether having a few drinks would help them with procuring a ship, but decided staying sober would probably be best. "Information actually. You see, my Ithorian friend here did not maintain a reliable transport, and the planet has claimed it. You wouldn't know any fringers looking to make a few credits would you?"
Not sure if this is needed, but figured what the hell.
"We also received a transmission from the crew of Tendau Bendon's ship. They've been grounded by an accident but he and Titus are seeking an alternative to bring them here. If all goes as planned your meeting with the Chief of State will take place in two days." Master Keth smiled. "It seems we will be hosting an unusual number of guests very soon."
Jado Only
To: Jado Der'Merra
Due to the damage inflicted on the shuttle that was to bring Tendau Bendon and Titus Antares to Coruscant I have decided to journey to Yavin IV myself. Your mission is too important to be delayed any longer than necessary, and it is of the upmost importance that I meet with you as soon as possible. I have already left Coruscant and will reach Yavin IV as soon as possible. Please make any preparations you deem necessary by that time.
From,
Chief Leia Organna Solo
Titus and Tendau
Alana rolled her eyes. "Can either of you name a fringer who isn't just looking to make a few credits?"
The Twi'lek server pointed at a duros seated at a booth in the corner with his wide eyes glued on the door. He was watching Titus and Tendau suspiciously as he gulped down the steaming liquid filling in glass. "That duros has a bounty on his head, I'm not sure what he did to get it but that's why he's hiding out here. He might be willing to take a few passengers if they make him the right offer."
Alana tilted her head towards a human ordering a drink from the MixRMasteR. "He came in about an hour ago and he hasn't stopped drinking since he walked through the door. Apparently he borrowed credits from the wrong people and now they're looking for reimbursement."
Four tall insect-like who'd been conversing at nearby a table applauded as the zabrak playing his quetarra reached the end of his song. He tuned the strings of his instrument and began playing another more lively tune which drew further applause from the insectoids. Alana steadied the tray on her arm. "Those four are scroungers, they've been buying junked ships and scavenging them for parts."
Someone shouted at Alana from across the bar but she quieted them with an apologetic smile. "Let me know if either of want to order anything alright?"
She turned and worked her way through the crow with a dancer's grace.
Klivian Tendau can make a Knowledge (Galactic Lore) or Knowledge (Life Sciences) check to identify the insectoid scavengers if you wish.

He shrugged. "I'm not sure if it's still an active membership though...what'd you have in mind? I'm not too keen on having to babysit or make an extra stop to drop him off..."
The jedi holds his hands up in a gesture of placation. "Easy there," he says as they approach, "we're just here to talk son..."
The Duros glances around the room before staring at the duo again. "Then talk...and keep your hands where they're at. I would rather not shoot the elderly, but I won't hesitate to put you down where you stand." His hands still up in the air, Titus glances over to Tendau and cocks his eyebrow. "Kids these days...I tell you Tendau, no sense of respect for their elders." The Jedi flicks his finger, and the young Duros's blaster flies out of its holster and into the Jedi's waiting hand.
Tendau and Titus sit down across the table from the surprised youth, both leaning in ominously. "Now son...we need to discuss the matter of a certain bounty..."
Master Keth waited quietly while Jado read over the message. When the sparring initiates in the training yard were dismissed he spoke again. "Are you sure you won't reconsider Master Skywalker's offer Jado? There is a place for you here if you wish to remain."
Titus and Tendau
The Duros picked up his glass and gulped down some more of the steaming beverage, Titus could see his hand shaking as it held the glass. He set it back down on the table and wiped his mouth of his sleeve. "I don't know what you're talking about, you must have me confused with someone else. No hard feelings though, would you care for a drink? The bartender here makes a pretty good ice blaster."

She lowered her eyes for a moment, and when she raised them again the smile was gone- replaced with a look of sadness. "Master Keth... Oren... would you mind having a serious talk for a moment? Some....things...have been weighing heavily on me for a long time, now."
Master Keth nodded. "It would be dishonest to say I haven't sensed your unease since your arrival, what is troubling you?"

I am a Jedi. I trust my judgement, and I trust that I will do what is right in any situation that I find myself in. But after what Palpatine has done, after the..other crises that have befallen us of late, how can I trust any council of Jedi or group of politicians to not steer my actions wrong? she lowered her head, a trickle of shame leaking through the bond before she conquered it and moved on.
I do not fear death, or dishonour, or anything, really. But I am deeply troubled at the thought that someone could take my gifts, and my desire to do right, and subvert it it all into something that harms others. I have been away for so long because I cannot answer that question. And I need to know... how do you answer it?
With the last words flowing through the telepathic link, a measure of peace returned to Jado that she hadn't realized was missing. It felt as though it had been gone for a long while.
For a moment Oren looked far older than he usually did. Jado knew he was not a young man, but somehow he never seemed to be burdened by his many years. "In the end though, he clawed his way back out of the darkness and saved us all."
Master Keth approached Jado and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Each of us must put our faith in the force and allow it to guide our actions. Even then we may choose to bestow our trust on the wrong people, but to trust no one is to be truly alone my young friend."

Stepping away from Oren with a flourish of her cloak she turned to leave, turning her head as she did to say: "May the force be with you, Master Keth. I genuinely appreciate your help and council."
Having no patience, Titus gets straight to the point. "Listen, kid, we're old..possibly a little senile...but we're not stupid. I know about the bounty on your head, and as a duly appointed representative of the Bounty Hunters Guild, it is within my authority to bring you in and claim the bounty." His eyes shifted over at Tendau, before looking sternly at the Duros. "However, we have other matters to deal with now that take precedence. So I've got a bit of a deal here."
He unclips his lightsaber and places it, not gently, onto the table between them. "I need your ship..." The Duros started to protest but Titus holds his hand up to cut him off. "Look kiddo, how do you think we found you? Your ship advertises to anyone with even an modicum of brains that you're nearby. "
"So let's make a little trade. You give us your ship, and we'll forget you're even here. I might even send a report stating you'd jumped off planet and we'd lost the trail. With your ship no longer here, and as long as you don't make too much noise in town, you can probably enjoy a pretty good life." He sees the Duros glance at the jedi's weapon, as if contemplating his next move. "Or you can try and take on a jedi and his very well-armed friend," Titus holds up the alien's blaster. "and you will be doing it without this." He presses a switch on the blaster, causing its power pack to fall out onto the ground. He places the unloaded gun on the table and slowly slides it back to the Duros. "Whaddya say kid?"
"You should take better care of your weapon, son. Looks like you haven't cleaned it in months. Sure would be a shame if it jammed when you needed it."
Persuasion: 1d20+7 16 - Aid Another
The Duros watched Tendau and Titus dismantling his weapon with a mixture of horror and awe. He picked up one of the components of his dismantled blaster and pocketed it.
"Alright, can have my ship on one condition." He leaned closer and lowered his voice so that no one except for Titus and Tendau would be able to hear him over the din and the music."Take me with you."
Titus started to protest but he pressed onward before the old Jedi could refuse him. "Can't you understand? I don't want to spend the rest of my life swatting off insects on this little mudball. I'm a good pilot and I'll get you wherever it is you need to go. Just drop me off when we land somewhere a bit more hospitable and you'll never see me again. You have my word on that. Besides if I'm with a member of the Bounty Hunter's Guild and someone else comes looking for my head we can always just pretend you're taking me in."
"What do you say old timer, do we have a deal?" The young Duros offered his hand over the table to Titus.
Jado
"May the force be with you Jado, I hope that you will find what you seek in the Unknown Regions." Master Keth watched Jado descend the stairs but he made no move to follow her.
Moving down the spiraling staircase Jado stepped out into the courtyard she'd been observing earlier to find it nearly deserted. Nearly all of the young Jedi she had seen practicing had vanished except for the Zabrak girl and a pair of Cerean siblings who were usually found in her presence. Trizia spotted Jado at the bottom of the steps and she smiled just as she had when she'd overwhelmed her opponent during their duel. Moving to block her path as she made her way across the courtyard the three of them approached her with broad grins, the Cerean brothers were still young but they were already so tall that they both towered over the older Balosar.
Trizia stopped and put on an expression of mock surprise. "Look it's the hero of Ohma D'un, did you gut any sea monsters today Jado?"
She circled around Jado leaving the Cereans to block her path Trizia flicked one of Jado's antenna painfully. "I heard a rumor that you'll be leaving the temple soon you little death sticks peddler. Did Master Skywalker finally kick you out?"
Both of the Cerean boys laughed loudly as they watched Trizia pacing around Jado, she brought her hand up to flick Jado's antenna again. "What's the matter didn't you hear me?"

Trizia stopped and furrowed her brow for a moment, trying to process that statement.
"I speak now to you as a friend, or at least as one who has your best interest at heart. I have allowed you to behave in a way unfitting for any child in school, much less one that is studying to be a Jedi. Not just to me, but to many of Padawan. For the good of everyone including yourself, you need to start acting like a Jedi, and not a bully who can use the force."

"I believe that a Jedi is a Jedi because of how she chooses to use her abilities. It is easy to use my abilities to gain power, to enrich myself at the cost of others, and to use my abilities to bring others down. What I have learned is that the best use of my abilities is far harder- to support and enrich those that can change things for the better, and to bring others up instead of down. I challenge you- the three of you- to think on what I have said and meet me tomorrow at the same time and place. If you wish to continue unabated then I will gladly submit to whatever harm you intend to inflict on me."
And without waiting for a reply Jado sidestepped Trizia and slowly began to walk away, her back to the three youths.
Sighing, he gives the Duros boy a hard stare. "Look kid, I'll be straight with you. We're going to Yavin IV..." He let the implication of their destination sink in. "If you want to go with us, great. However, you're not just dropping us off. You've got a bounty on your head for a reason, and as much as I hate to be preachy, there's also a reason you ran into us...the Force works in ways even Master Skywalker can't foresee." He glanced back at Tendau. The Ithorian nodded back approvingly, knowing where this was going.
"So when we get to Yavin IV, you're staying there for a while, got it? I have no idea if you've got potential as a Jedi, but regardless, we'll find something for you to do there. Think of it as working off your karmic debt." He grinned at the boy. "Plus, you won't find a safer place to hide from bounty hunters."
"I guess the Jedi need a good pilot as much as anyone else does." The Duros gulped down the rest of his drink and rose. "My name is Herun by the way, my ship is berthed pretty close by. Lets get out of here before a storm hits and we're all stranded for the next three months shall we?"
Herun dropped a few credits on the table and moved toward the exit, but two Shistavanens stood up from another table and stepped in front of him. At a glance Titus could see that each of the lupine humanoids were armed with blasters and knives. He also spotted a third Shistavanen standing in the door, probably keeping an eye out for any members of the local security force. Herun glanced backwards at Tendau nervously. "Friends of yours?"
The larger of the Shistavanens seized Herun by the front of his shirt lifting him off of the ground. He bared his teeth at the Duros and snarled.
Drawing his blaster the second Shistavanen pressed the weapon against Titus's shoulders so that it would be less noticeable. "This one is ours."
Jado
The next day
Heavy rains had driven most of the temple's occupants indoors throughout the day, but a few initiates had slogged their way across the muddy training ground to watch the show. Emotions surged throughout the small crowd as Jado approached. Excitement, curiosity, anger, anxiety, and fear all vied for supremacy. Trizia had managed to get her hands on a training lightsaber somehow, she held the weapon tightly and watched Jado like a hungry Nexu. Only one of her Cerean shadows was with her however.
Trizia tossed another lightsaber onto the ground at Jado's feet. "Pick it up. I don't want anyone saying I didn't give you a chance to defend yourself."

"I told you that today I would allow you to inflict whatever harm you wanted on me, Trizia. If you truly want to strike me, you can feel free- all those present here can attest that I have said so. I will say, though, that I want you to think again on what I said yesterday... I am here to help you, and you seem to be here to hurt me. In this scenario, which of us is following the path of a Jedi?"
Jado stood with her arms outstretched, waiting for whatever would come.
She brought her arm back and then slashed down at Jado's shoulder with all of her might. Jado shut her eyes readying herself for the sting of the blow but it never came. Opening her eyes she found the second Cerean boy standing in front of her holding the blade in his bare hand a foot above her shoulder. Smoke curled off his skin and his entire arm was trembling with the effort of fending off the attack but he did not cry out. Staring down at Trizia he shook his head. "No more."

Not striking someone takes far more courage than striking in anger, Trizia. I do this because I believe in you, and see much potential in you to be a true Jedi some day. It will not be easy, but please think on what I have said, and on what your companion has just done. Everyone here only wants you to succeed.
"So take your pick. Incur our wrath or incur the guild's. Or walk away and we'll forget that you interfered."
