Which of course did no end of messing around with the Kardashev scale...
Occasionally we'll have to move the lava pumps, but yeah, the tank of lava we had formed a wall of Bee Moskau's underground workshop. Both levels of it. I'd estimate that a single pump, assuming it wasn't sharing the same AoI as another pump, was drawing around 10,000 buckets of lava per placement.
Later on, Bee Moskau started transitioning to Steam Boilers and a MJ based energy system.
I have to say, Bee Moskau's power system was a great way to learn how to effectively convert and transport power since that was when we started moving to using Power Converters, and hit the EU packet limit.
Has anyone tried pumping lava into an ender tank from the nether and have another ender tank pump it out near your first base?
That's usually my second power after a butt tonne of sterlings. Use a nther pump and you don't need a chunk loader and stuff. Nether lava serves as primary power until I can get boilers

So here's my current 1.6.4 modlist:
BetterStorage
Applied Energistics
Ars Magica 2
Alternate Terrain Generation
BiblioCraft
Biomes o' Plenty
ChickenChunks
ComputerCraft
EnderStorage
Inventory Tweaks
NEI + Addons + Plugins
Project Red
Soul Shards 2
Tinker's Construct
Thaumcraft 4
Thermal Expansion
Translocators
Twilight Forest
Wireless Redstone CBE
Thing is, Thermal Expansion doesn't have any pumps. Can you guys think of a fluid automation solution, using only these mods?
My current thinking is ComputerCraft turtles and buckets, but I'd like to explore other options.

I remember draining that entire tank of lava into centrifuges and crashing the power grid! We did get a lot of copper from it though.
Edit: @AkimboEG Thaumcraft decanting golems maybe? Alternatively, AE can transport and store buckets. If there are liquid translocators, those hooked up to an ender tank would work too.

If you're trying to tap into world lava/water... nope, it's turtles all the way down. Thankfully, unless you want to use world lava, there's no need for pumps.

If I knew what I now know about power systems, I bet I would have been able to rig the power grid so that the centrifuges wouldn't have taken down the power grid.

Some kind of level emitter hooked up to ME net probably.
Actually, I would have done something similar to my planned low power buffer system. Buffer the power in RECs so I have redstone gating control and restrict the centrifuges to use only surplus power.

If Project Red has the blutricity system in place from RP2 now it might have a pump.
man, and here I was thinking I was being all fancy putting two sets of doors and some glass blocks for windows up...
Son, You aint seen shit yet.
We rend the very fabric of time and space, bend it to our will, and chain gods in our basements to do our bidding.
We also make stupidly overpowered things to justify the fact that we generate stupidly unnecessary amounts of power.
Then we use that as an excuse to expand the power generation system even more.
I really miss gregtech right now. Banks of centrifuges spinning out thousands of copper, electrum, etc a day. Industrial grinders producing insane amounts of rare materials, electrolyzers processing god only knows what into all sorts of crazy compounds.
But then I remember greg is an asshole who puts malicious code in his mod because he gets his panties in a twist over people having fun the wrong way, and I don't miss it so much.
When do you that because every time I've been on the server is empty =P
Or is that where the time and space bit comes into play.
We did it before @Takel put the idea in our head 3 months ago that 1.6 pack would be here "within weeks"
It will happen again once 1.6 FTB finally drops, and the glory of Moskau shall again shine forever more in the eternal flame of melted plastic and steel that was once a server.
As soon as 1.6 drops, the server population will explode..for the 3 days it takes to build everything and exhaust every tech tree and create a ME net that is self aware and capable of consuming skynet.
Easy Copper, Tin, Silver, Gold and Iron generation (spinning lava and the results can produce iron. Electrum is silver + gold)
Centralising power generation into one huge eff off reactor. A constantly running Fusion Reactor produces more power than I can feasibly anticipate in using for an extremely long time... It'll be enough to power a server full of nutters.
As soon as 1.6 drops, the server population will explode..for the 3 days it takes to build everything and exhaust every tech tree and create a ME net that is self aware and capable of consuming skynet.
All the while, everyone is camping out on some grassy hill because no one has been bothered making a house. Not even a fenced off area. And the cows are licking the boilers and oh gods is that a creeper in the pig pen?!

we lived in the communist communal cave and we liked it.
Instead of gregtech and his malicious code, Osviricorp is now dumping excess power into three laser drills. Also a storage system for the me-net that would rival the NSA's sekret storage facility :P
Still need to fix the steam power somehow though. Plenty is being generated, but the receiving steam tesseracts are screwy. A few (always the same few) are receiving the max 1000mb/t steam rate, but most only receive 53mb/t even though the amount of steam being produced is far in excess of what is being used. I think somehow the full-strength receiving tesseracts are all connecting to individual other tesseracts and the rest are all connecting to the same one? Or maybe there is also a maximum amount of liquid that can be transmitted on a single tesseract channel and we need to have seperate channels for every connection or something, I dunno.

It might take longer, since people will be working solo....ish.
Or at least that's the attempt.
I however will build the shit out of a thing. And people are welcome to reside in it.
And give me free power armor.
And elect me as their sovereign leader.
Also that cave was damn amazing. I thought the first week or two was amazing.
Plans getting larger...and larger...and larger.
@Takel I had to remove the REC setup you had on Ovsiri Corp's power setup. I couldn't see anything wrong with the design, but for some reason only one cell in each section was charged, the rest staying completely empty. The network saturation for the input was 100% and the output was 2.8%, plus I think the maximum output it could have was still well below the demand (possibly due to me switching the laser drills in the basement to be powered directly from the BC power line :P)
I've also added a few more biofuel generators as well as adding a few energy bridges directly from a couple of the boilers to the BC line, along with another laser drill. The laser drills are all going at high speed now, network saturation throughout is 100%, and possibly related, Ovsiri corp now has over 10k emeralds
Bees are fun.
On my private server I have Forestry+ExtraBees+MagicBees. I now have bees producing everything I need to make more alvearies, including some bees producing oil/fuel to power the carpenters/squeezers/centrifuges. My next step is to make bees to produce iron/gold/redstone/glowstone/diamond/emeralds, and then branch out from there into more useful unique stuff.
I have a pure bee base I use for every bee that has elongated lifespan, fast productivity, fast pollination, pollinates off of rocks, maximum fertility, the explorer effect, nocturnal, flyer, cave, with humidity and temperature tolerance at both 5.
Once I get a species I like, I breed it and use it in the isolator until I get the species serum, then get a princess/drone with all the stats above and apply the species over it. I'd like to get a bee with better productivity, and maybe see about mixing up the 'effects', but I don't really need many other ones and I'm not sure which species of bee naturally gets better than 'fast productivity'.
As far as mods go, I recently started using Extra Utilities, and I have to say I'm a fan. The pipes are solid and simple, and all the other blocks/items added are incredibly useful without being overpowered. I'd suggest it for any kind of server play, particularly since you can only use the 'peaceful table' if the game is in peaceful. The magnum torch is a nice semi-endgame goal with a huge benefit that, when you think about it, isn't really overpowered. Once you get to the point where you can craft it, you're usually killing mobs without any problems anyway. Angel blocks are incredibly nice for builds that are in the sky or whatever. A one-block redstone clock? yesplz. A sound muffler so you don't hear the stupid chickens constantly clucking? Yesplz. Spikes and cursed earth help make a good mob grinder without size being a big issue. I would agree that spikes making monsters drop loot as if they were player-killed might be a bit OP though.
Anyway, it's a fairly solid mod, and I'm a fan.
Look at me. Look at me. Look at how large the monster inside me has become. Crunch Crunch! Munch Munch! Chomp Chomp! Gulp!

Welp, new Thermal Expansion on the Forgecraft 2 server.
Edit: Ha, there's still a couple of small issues he's working out, mainly with how other mods interact with TE. One of the big offenders is Gregtech, and the only way King Lemming thinks those errors could be happening is if Gregtech is specifically breaking his code.
You know, I really wish people showing off mods would be less spastic in their movements. Especially at the beginning of videos, they have a tendency to run and jump around, spin in place, etc. It's fucking ridiculous and it makes me motion-sick.

I'm actually considering rolling a custom 1.6 mod pack for the server...
Core mods will continue to be TE/TiCo/Natura/MFR/BoP/TC/AE. I'm going to toss in stuff like HarvestCraft, Mekanism, EnderIO, maybe RotaryCraft.
I want to get away from IC2 and introduce more stuff that's more than just automation and world eating and more 'aesthetic crap'.
Comments?
As someone who doesn't play on the server and wasn't really planning on it, it seems like that would introduce the hurdle of having to install and keep mods updated to the server specs. Is there a way that you could create a custom FTB modpack or something?
Also yeah, disturbing lack of Buildcraft in there. I guess the Quarry and Pump are the only things that would really go missing, and one or both may be found in one of those last 4 mods that I've never heard of.
For the most part, how we're using the launcher is just getting the initial downloads done. My plan would be to use a different launcher to build and 'host' the pack, archive up all of the collected mods and config packages, then just let other people download and extract the folders.
Yeah, BC, Forestry, Railcraft MPS are pretty much shoe ins. Not sure about Twilight Forest though... apart from the Huge Hollow Hills, is there really all that much that's worth it in there compared to TiCo and MPS?

Moskau was capable of literally consuming a Mystcraft age that was nothing but lava 50 blocks deep.

Man, I remember moving that goddamn (dualpump?) setup at least 5 times. It might have been more.
And yeah, moving the pumps annoyed me enough to start developing the biofuel -> boiler chain.
If Project Red has the blutricity system in place from RP2 now it might have a pump.
Which is crazy to think about. Because I know the pump area that it draws from was....like crazy large.
