My previous, rarely-updated thread was from when I was a student, a mere child looking for a place to put his art-complishments...
Now I am a man, a graduate from an esteemed university with nothing to lose and everything to prove. It seems appropriate to create a new thread to honor this milestone.
Anyways, here's some slightly more recent stuff from the old thread to kick this off, along with an introduction for anyone that doesn't know already:
My name is Kyle and I am a graphic designer with a Bachelor of Science in Design from the University of Cincinnati. In addition to design, I like to make comics and other things over at www.rgbfame.com. I hope you like them too.
Awhile ago I was posting regular updates of my senior thesis/capstone project in an [Enrichment] thread, but I never got around to posting the final product. Well, here it is,
The Bachelor's Survival Guide in all of it's glory:

Please note this is not the entire book page-for-page, as that would be a little unnecessary and I may be doing something with them in the future. Stay tuned.

My only comment on the booklet is that the faded-out images behind the text are probably unnecessary, they'll just make the text a bit harder to read.
@wahay wait, you live in Hyde Park? I live in Norwood, WHAT!?!
And love the janitor bit, lol!

It's designed so that if you put two of them side-by-side, the pattern is seamless.
Here are some slight variations of the background pattern, please let me know if you think one of these options is better.
C)
D) (no pattern)
@iruka the faded hexagon pattern in the background is just slightly different in each one, and the last one has no pattern at all. Can you not see it on your monitor? I wonder if it should be darker.
Also here's some poster/t-shirt thing I've been working on.
Hopefully I'll post more shit soon.
Then I decided to take the same thing in a totally different direction...
Process shot!
Anyways I'm drawing a lot more, here's some sketches:
Thank you!
Also here's a new comic I posted on my tumblr: http://rgbfame.com/post/140205906058/rgbfame-for-22916
I'm getting more comfortable with figuring out my own process and using half-tones and stuff. Currently I draw everything out by hand, then I do a shoddy ink job and take photos of the panels individually. From there I convert it to Black and White in photoshop and begin the touching up process, sometimes drawing new lines if I have to. Since I don't have any fancy inking materials, I may try doing a 2nd inking digitally to get the kind of line-weight variation I desire. I get frustrated when I draw digitally, but I think that may just come from inexperience. For now I'm trying to divide it up between traditional media and digital, and then steadily go one way or the other as I become more comfortable and develop my skills.
Anyways, any and all critique is welcome!
