TSN still gets some regional broadcasts next year (i.e TSN Jets lives on), but Rogers gets exclusive rights to all national broadcasts of any game involving a Canadian team. HNIC will still happen, but Rogers somehow now owns the rights to the term "Hockey Night in Canada" and controls all content related to it, CBC makes no money off airing HNIC, and the format will likely change (i.e. sending Don Cherry off to a farm somewhere)
1) Silence 2) Books must be returned by the last date shown 3) Do not interfere with the nature of causality
coach's corner to be replaced by john garrett's snack food fun-time, in which he talks about the various featured safeway products he consumed in his mediocre career as a goaltender
a man can dream because a world where i have to listen to sportsnet commentators is a world where I start running a lifestream and just commentating myself

Sportsnet doesn't have a single commentator or analyst worth watching.
Their main hockey broadcast is hosted by Kypreos and Maclean.
Their draft day coverage is literally reporting what TSN breaks.
They're acting all smug right now but I don't watch anything on that channel other than Oilers broadcasts and pretty much everyone I know is the same. Game is over, change it to something actually good. Period is over, mute the tv or change the channel so we don't have to listen to Shannon or Spector vomit out idiocy.

i am reading a memo we just got at work regarding the sportsnet deal that reads as "we are currently negotiating with Rogers regarding CFL, NFL, NBA, MLC, NCAA, and NHL coverage for both of our existing client base"
which basically reads to me as "if you pull full hockey coverage from us we will just pull TSN and affiliates from you"
dig in the trenches kids this is gonna be a long one
Thornton should have gone after Neal.l instead of Orpik.
Both Neal and Thornton should get big suspensions.
If the Pens want to beat the Bruins they have to stop playing like they want to be tough guys. They seem to insist on playing right into Boston's strength.
Everyone knows that Thorton is piece of shit, but I don't think people realize that Neal is also a tremendous fucking asshole.
The best solution i saw was for Thorton and Neal to fight to the death, and then kill the winner.
Yeah, Neal is an asshole, but Thornton has never really been a shitbag player. He's always played his role of being a big tough guy, but I can't ever remember him pulling a Carcillo/Scott kind of goon move before.
Yeah, I was out all weekend (went to Chicago; we went to a restaurant and the 'Hawks game was on. Against Anaheim. flew 4 1/2 hours and caught a game I coulda watched at home) and so I just read this up this afternoon too. Holy fuck, what a bunch of fucking fucks. I don't know what to call them. Morons, idiots, savages, lunkheads, whatever. Fuck 'em. Let's just all go down to a rink and skate just to forget these shits.

Neal gets 5 games.
Lines up perfectly on the chart. Let injured or not dictate your suspension, great policy NHL.
Watching and reading Boston fans and media defend Thornton has been sickening. People trying to turn this shit in to a fighting in hockey debate are idiots.
'Oh if there was no instigator penalty then this wouldn't have happened!'

The flowchart demands this debate though. It is the way of things (curiously no mention of it in the Star today though, but I don't read it on Sundays so maybe it was there).
Thornty just lost it. From the reports it sounds like he surprised himself with what happened. He's never been suspended before (unlike Neal). Hell, HE'S not even defending what he did.

That was his gimmick until he got his suspension that hes fighting now. If you were really remorseful you wouldnt appeal.
But we all know that Bettman wont want it to go to an independent arbitrator so he will reduce it. What a joke.

I think you're pretty backwards there. Thornton's case is extremely weak and most analysis I've read gives him zero chance.
I wish Neal had appealed. I could honestly see the arbitrator upping his suspension.

I'm pretty sure arbitration doesn't exist for the phone call suspensions, but I haven't read the CBA.
My impression from Thornton's appeal is that it's the NHLPA/lawyers using him as a test case for both the new appeal process and how weak Shanahan's position is. So it's not really based on the merits of his actual appeal (of which I think there are none).

aww yeah.
the last time Rogers tried to cut Bell out of content was when they pulled Sportsnet from all Bell subscribers
and Bell's response was to pull all of CTV and it's subsidiary companies from Rogers subscribers
so
I bet TSN gets more out of this than is currently being shown (especially because Centre Ice is still a thing question mark?)

I think I'll cheer for the russians this year.
An interesting conversation about fighting in hockey. All involved fighting isn't getting taken out, but it's worth a listen/read.
That was worse than Cooke on Savard, by intent if nothing else.
Neal kneeing Marchand in the head.
Suspend Neal for 40 games. Kick Thornton out of the league like Schide said. Kill literally anyone who defends them.
Shoot PJ Stock in to the sun.
I give up.

(Edited for name spelling derp)
Because the NHL doesn't give a fucking shit about their players.

I never finish anyth
Wow just reading about this...what the hell man, did everybody just lose their minds? Both Niel and Thorton basically committed assault.

I hope Engo knows enough to take whatever punishment is given to him when his turn comes.
I feel the need to point out I was not credited with a hit for that in fantasy, which seems patently unfair. #FREEMARTYBERNIER
Don't mind if I do!
